    Parse Bear form/Man form

I am in a group that is doing the epic content. After the big update made it nearly automatic to keep the rage up, I wondered if, in red line, it would be better to stay in bear form or man form most of the time. I looked for people parsing, but couldn't find anyone so I parsed a bit. My bear is only level 65, so of course there are plenty of differences between my mileage and yours.

I found it much better to stay in man form nearly all the time. The only time I switched to bear was to maul--after having done ferocious roar to crit every maul hit. I had the legacies for 10% bear damage and for 10% man damage.

In the first parse below that's how I played it.

In the second parse, I nearly always stayed in bear form. I only switched to man form to hit ferocious roar, then back to bear to crit the maul. The usual bear parse was not quite as good as the one below. Usually I found about a 30% bump for man form. It's only a 22% bump for man form below, but this was my best bear parse, whereas the man parse seemed more constant. I was dual weilding. I did try two handed, but my two hander was not of the same quality, so I'm not going to report that. I can't see how a two hander would improve the bear, relative to the man form.

Since Thrash is supposed to hit up to five enemies in front of the bear, that would increase damage in bear form for multiple targets. But I do not see thrash hit multiples often, so I wonder if thrash's arc is super small. Anyway, if you disagree with that, then Thrash's frontal AOE could make a difference.

As far as I know, only main hand weapon is used to calcualte bear form damage. So if you dual weilding, you basically lose all the benefits and stats from your off-hand weapon in bear form. Such thing does not happen to a 2-hander, so in theory (and it is really so according to players) your bear form damage will be more with 2-hander then with two weapons; though man form damage will probabbly go down a bit.

Arabani is right. The bear form damage depends only on the main hand weapon. If you are not using two-handed weapon, you are losing a lot of damage.

The dps is more about dancing between both forms in contrast to staying just in one. Thrash makes +15% dmg buff, switching forms refreshes the expose buff, you can stun enemies in bear form (which means no bpe for enemy during the stun).

Also, bash deals a lot of damage and bees deal more dmg in bear form.

It is probably correct to stay longer in man form to keep up permanent slash t3 dot and thus to give up on trash t3* but still, for the best dps you need to use more then just FR+RM combo.

*if there is any proper beo dd, I would be interested to know if it is possible with some attack duration buff to achieve both - permanent slash t3 dot and trash t3.

I can't speak for anyone else, but, for me switching between bear form and man form is a must for optimal dps. As mentioned above, you want to bring up the damage buff in man form, set a bleed with serated/biting edge, and also there are some other benefits (Slam trait in blue tree will give you a nice defense buff)...slash will also start a bleed. And, of course, you're building wrath in the process.

You want to keep your bees up 100% of the time. At your level (65) you are only getting damage. But, eventually, you will be able to get the debuffs from Blue tree (induction delay and added attack duration on the mob).

Also, and this is as you level up, you want to get Armor Crush from Blue tree. There are a number of reasons for this. 1. It's another interruption skill in bear form. 2. It provides another damage buff when used 3. It does moderate damage when used with minimal induction and cooldown.

Stats: Critical rating is almost as or more important than physical mastery. The final bonus on the Red tree adds critical rating in tandem with the amount of wrath you have. You can get it as high as 45%. That's HUGE and a nice advantage over other classes (I'm not sure how you managed 70% critical hits in your parse posted above...but whatever). On average, at cap, you are going to be around 40% critical hits during a fight if you keep your wrath up (which is another reason to switch to man form throughout). At cap you can expect some pretty significant damage provided you have your critical rating up. Vicious Claws will hit for over 100k sporadically. Thrash 3 will hit for about the same. Relentless Maul is your massive damage skill and is aoe. On average (with capped crit rating and mastery) you are going to have 3 or 4 hits over 120k each time you use it. As far as a dps parse. I've never gotten higher than 50k damage per second. But, on average I am in the 40k's against single target Scourges (Elite boss) in the Skarhald Resource instances. Prior to the changes it was about half that. Obviously, on large mobs you can get a dps parse much, much higher, but it doesn't tell you anything.

Tips and hints: Grab Recuperate in blue tree when you can. It's a self heal in bear form that they boosted. Some of the pulses exceed 12k to 15k...and it allows you stay in bear form as long as you need to. Proactive instead of reactive and all that. If you have extra buttons on your mouse/trackball, keymap both heals on a single button on your mouse so you can hit it whenever you need it. They have fast cooldowns and you don't have to bother yourself with searching them out on your board. It makes life much easier. You can do the same with your skin changes so you just tap a button on your mouse to switch. With those two things automatic you can concentrate on the skill you use better. Also, in blue tree there is a trait that will attach building wrath to using your self-heal in man form. It builds wrath faster...which is key in all three of the roles a bear plays.

    Hope this helps.

71k dps for 3 mins in solo dummy was my best parse on last bullroarer. Usually was 65-70k. Rotation is based on maintaining all possible dots and ofc FR+RM combo. Pretty good for our class, i think, and also interested how much wardens/champs/guardians can do
