I do not understand point of Legendary servers in first place

After i read article from last year.. i really don't get it why would anyone want to play and pay to have exactly the same content , why are they legendary?? i do not understand what is so special about them unless you play with different folks,.

there are 2 other servers with absolutely same game content and progression with even Monster play disabled

also about xp lock.. it can also be done on normal servers, im trying to think hard why were they introduced... why to pay VIP and call them legendary if there is not really nothing trully legendary about them :s

Correct me please if i m wrong , i m not trying to be smart*s or funny . its just you have a server obviously different named and only notable feature is having again same old content gradually added over months.. so ultimately is same?? stone can be still be used on old servers as well there and then player can progress they way he chooses too...

it would be better if they simply added 2 new servers or classic experience as it was before but i imagine such action was too costly or they cannot do it.

i got to legendary by myself and there is nothing new except players being 75 locked in isengard content *_*

I can't speak for anyone else, but the reason I play on them is I already sub anyway, plus I like the 60% xp, this allows me to go through all the content, but still see progress. I have used the pocket slot on the regular servers and it takes up an equipment slot and turns your XP off completely. I for one like to do all the quest, but still see my xp bar move and not out level an area quickly. That's why I play on there, if they had the story pace mode on the regular servers, I would probably just do that.

Because they actually made the content hard for OD and ToO. Also having the ability to be level locked at 75 WITH a pocket slot is also very nice, something I've been asking for for about 2 years now.

One complaint about this and other older games is 'how can I catch up with those that have been playing for awhile', the other comment you hear is 'I wish I had been there when it first started'.

Well 're-starting' the game like the Legendary Servers did takes care of both of those problems. Bummed because there's no one to run content with? Well hey! here's a way.

There are also those that wish to re-live if you will, those days when the game first came out, everyone was just starting out and no one had been buffed with gear from other characters.

Calling it Legendary was a marketing choice.

Also loosely based on the "Legendary Weapons" naming already in the game.
Everquest calls it "Classic Servers". (although just like Lotro, it runs on modern code)
World of Warcraft calls it "Classic Servers" as well.

There might be a few other games that have classic type servers, but its just a name. Essentially, that is what they are.

I was actually surprised as to how many NEW players joined the game on the legendary servers. In the kinship I am in on ANOR are plenty of people who are either completely new to the game, or they stopped playing when Moria was released or somewhere along those days.... and got to Mirkwood and Isengard for the first time in their life.

Population has dwindled a lot, which is a shame.... but I think a lot of people are playing Minas Morgul at the moment. Still, in a good kinship there are plenty of people to raid with, and doing content on-level is quite fun
