Should I be concerned - no characters on login page

***Edit: I think I know the problem. I was initially on the Vilya server waaay back when. What server was that migrated to?***

Just patched the game. I've played on an off since 2008. 99% sure I have the right account information. Logged in and the only option I have is to create a new character. My character list is empty. I had at least 3-4 characters before I unsubbed a few years back.

It might be a silly question... but should I be concerned? Am I missing something with the login process?

When I login via the LOTRO website, is there a way to check what email address is associated with that user? It is possible that maybe I'm using an "free account" or something and I just happened to remember the username/password for it. The options for managing my account on the website is highly limited: Change password, manage subs. That's about it. I figured there'd be some other options there.

There is a good chance you are logged into a new account. My best advice is to submit a ticket with as much information you have on your original account. You will need at least your email info you created the account under and your primary log in character name for that account. If you don't have this information or it doesn't match what they have then you may be sol.

This happened to me on another game I used to play and they were unable to find my account since they had no account registered under the email I had given them. They found my character but without the proper email info they wouldn't let me have it. I understood their position, I could have been from their view trying to hack into another's account.

    Anyway,
    Good Luck!

A bunch of servers were 'sunset' several years ago, that is taken off line, but they didn't migrate the databases.

Any characters that are on those now unreachable servers should be available to transfer to an active server for free, however SSG has been having trouble with Character Transfer for several months now and that service is not available right now.

There's been some action on the forums that the service might be returning soon (they were testing it on Bullroarer), but until the service comes back to the Live worlds those characters on Vilya will not be available.

Bad news, I know. A lot of folks who came back for the Expansion are in the same boat.

Once transfers are back again you can transfer for free off of Vilya onto any existing US server (Arkenstone, Crickhollow, Landroval, Gladden and Brandywine).
While you wait I would suggest making some test characters (don't use names matching the ones parked on Vilya) and check out the scene on each of these servers. If you were in a kinship, maybe they moved and are still around?

For the time being, you might try a new character elsewhere. Note that your characters on Vilya - should they become transferable - will have more room, because when the transfers began, all players received two additional slots. Still, it wasn't enough for me, because I had my characters spread over several servers, and one or two had to migrate to a British server.
