Cannot find old characters from Vilya

As the title mentions, I am a former player from years ago (before all the server closings). I have decided to come back to the game to see what has changed and Vilya has been closed!

I tried the transfer button, but to no avail. I've logged on to each US server to see if the characters had been automatically transferred, but I didn't see them...every server sent me to the character creation screen.

Also, my account used to accumulate the ingame store coins...are those gone too?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Lots of us that used to play on Vilya transferred to Crickhollow.
The kin I was in transfered to Crickhollow.

You would normally be able to transfer your characters to an active server (free, no charge) but transfers are down at the moment (have been for a while due to technical problems). SSG are working on getting them going again and hopefully they will be back "soon".

All your old stuff should still be there once transfers are back. If you're a lifer you'll have a nice stash of points to come back to.

All your old stuff should still be there once transfers are back. If you're a lifer you'll have a nice stash of points to come back to.

I'm really hoping it does work out. I spent 4 years in LoTRO from shortly after launch...I don't want to do the Mines of Moria again...lol

Some progress in restoring the transfers has happened. Within the last few weeks, copies to the test worlds were resumed. The first test had extremely high, and unacceptable for live, failure rates. I have not heard about the raid previews having similar copy failure rates. Nevertheless, when they have something to tell us, they will. The fact that copies are back is an indicator that it is likely going to be coming in the next few weeks. NB that Cord gets asked this question during his Friday streams. Nothing new was said this past Friday, if I am remembering correctly.

I had ALOT of upper level characters and items and currency on my old server and cannot access those characters. I had been playing for years since game launch. I don't really want to have to start everything from scratch or lose any previous progress.

Same thing here. Just found out I had a character at late Nimrodel and wanted to go back to it, since I spent many hours on him, Support answered my ticket by telling me to go to the forum and keep an eye out on the character transfer situation, as it is still under maintenance. If anyone has any news I'd also appreciate it.

I am in the same situation as many here. Was a long-time LOTRO player years ago. I was on Nimrodel. Reinstalled just to see what's up and the changes, but No characters on any server and no way to find or transfer my characters. What a bummer. No way am I starting a new character. So, I guess they really don't want returning players to come back.
