[EVENT:] Shire Search for the Queen of the May

Another year gone and tis time ter start the search once more!

Each year around this time, the Shire decides which of the brave lassies who come forward, will be ter next wearer of the floral crown. From humble housewife ter hard working crafters, the race is open ter all

Now, as the leaves on the trees change every year, tis only fair that ter Queen be renewed each year, otherwise we'd be keeping the same lassies and no giving others the chance.

So... Are ye a lass of the Shire? Do ye have what it takes ter be Queen of the May? Do ye know of someone who would do the Shire Proud? If so, then don't delay, send yer name to me, Nannie, and ye could be the lucky one!

Over the years we've many a fine queen of the May. Miss Acorne, Miss Amorey , Miss Dassa and our current holder - showing age doesna stop yer! - Granmama! ter name but a few. Will ye be joining their ranks?

So, lassies dust off yer dresses and pluck up yer courage - a wee dram may help with that one - Drop me a wee message via the Quick post - oh those laddies dunna like this coming month as they ken they'll have ter earn their ale! - or if ye see's me at the Green Dragon or market, let me know and ye too could be wearing the floral crown come May 2nd!

Now ah hope ye lads are no thinking ah've forgotten yet this year! Oh no!

The Kings crown has rested alone fer the past year, as no one came forward ter dare wear it

The question this year, we all are asking is simple.... Will we have a lad brave enough ter try this time?

If ye think ye have what it takes ter be the King o' the May, or do ye know of someone who would fit the crown? Then pass the name ter me, and we'll see what we'll see!

The search has begun to find our next Rulers of the May, all are invited ter try, who havena held the title before. Once we have some willing vict.... er candidates, their names will be listed here fer all ter see and then voting will be opened.

Ye have till the 17th April, ter get yer names in, then voting will open for those brave souls.

The event is open to all Hobbits of the Shire and beyond, results ter be announced at the party on May the 2nd

Right me dears! ah'd like ter thank all of ye fer nominating so many lads and lassies fer the race ter be the next Shire May Queen an King.

Now ah needs ter tell ye how ter cast yer votes, fer tis up ter ye all ter pick the lass and lad of yer choice. Then ah'll let ye know who ye've got ter pick from!

Voting is easy ter do. Each hobbit gets two votes - one fer the lass ye wants an the other fer the laddie.

Ye does this by sending yer choices ter me either via the Quick post or if ye see me, then just pull me aside and whisper it ter me. A note will be made and the deed is done.

Last day fer voting is Green Dragon Friday on May 1st, then all votes will be counted and made final with the results announced at the Crowning ceremony held the next day, at Shire Roses Kin hall.
