    Beorning guide (start)

Occasionally you come across the question for a beorning guide, but there has never materialized one. May not be the best bear, but a bear for awhile. Main example what i'd like it to get close to is a guide like Zon's guardian guide. For now i'm focussing on the most requested and game area that won't change with update 24.

I have a pretty entry-level beorning gameplay question: At high levels, do people actually shapeshift using the dedicated form toggles? While leveling mine I've been under the impression that the primary method of swapping forms in-combat is Thrash to get into bear and Slash to get into man, but reading some guides it seems that is not the case? Just looking for a bit of clarification on that point as using the actual toggles seems clunkier to me. Coming from a redline perspective so far.

You're probably reading older guides. It was in a relatively recent update that made using Thrash/Slash automatically shapeshift you. Previously, you either had to use the toggles or get turned from a bear to man automatically when you hit 0 rage. As far as I know, there's currently no reason to use to the toggles unless you're unable to make a melee attack to shift (or a boss mechanic makes it a bad idea).

I do use the toggles (i've quickslotted them into my rotations) to take advantage of:
    1) "Rush" in bear form - toggle man form - "biting edge" to hit & stun several trash mobs. If I were to use Slash, I'd be waisting my stun.
    2) "Ferocious roar" in man form - toggle bear form - "relentless maul". If I used Thrash, again, I'd be using my crit on just 1 hit, or on an auto-attack :/.

But, then again, I'm no expert Beorning.
