    Question about Beorning LIs

    Hi,

I have a friend who has joined the game recently and has worked hard to level up his Beorning, now at 124. I made him some FA LIs, a great axe and a carving, and took him through the imbuement process, but with the number of star-lits needed, his DPS is well behind now and he is finding it really slow getting through landscape. He doesn’t have a lot of time to play, so the LI grind isn’t really an option. Although I have been sending him a crystal or two each time I do Throne, there’s a loooong way to go.

I have heard that Beornings can get by at endgame with just a pair of crafted weapons. Is this true? If so, it would make life a lot easier and he wouldn’t have to worry about at least one LI and could maybe just level the carving for healing/tanking. Finally, what are the best legacies to choose? It doesn’t seem like the bears get as much choice as the rest of us. I don’t really play Beorning much at all, so it is hard for me to advise on these questions.

Thanks in advance for any replies

Beornings just don't have many options in legacies. They suffer from having imbued legacies with ratings designed for level 100 stat caps, but with level 130 stat caps those ratings fall behind massively. My suggestion for your friend is to start with the following swappies:

LI 1 -- (Unimbued) Carving of the Third Age -- "Fear/Rush Duration Swaps"
    • +10 Rush Duration
    • +4 Grisly Cry Fear Duration
    • all others optional/unimportant

LI 2 -- (Unimbued) Club/Axe of the Third Age -- "Durations Swap"
    • +10 Call to Wild Duration
    • +10 Thickened Hide Duration
    • +6 Bee Swarm Debuff Duration
    • all others optional/unimportant

For healing, you can get away with a crafted 1h axe (crit chance) for your main hand. Tanking gets a little bit more value from a legendary, but only a little. I would use the following weapon legacies for healing/tanking:
    LI 3 -- (Imbued) 1-handed Club/Axe -- "Healing/Tanking"
    • Bear form damage
    • Bee swarm damage
    • Bee swarm critical defense debuff
    • Chance for attacks to return wrath
    • Relentless maul damage
    • Vigilant roar damage
    • (This last spot can be anything, vitality, might, even Turn the Tides damage if you're picking it up from red tree for some reason)

For dps, you arguably could increase your DPS by swapping between using a 2H weapon for bearform and a 1H weapon for manform, but for the sake of simplicity I just recommend the following:
    LI 4 -- (Imbued) 2-handed Club/Axe -- "DPS"
    • Bear form damage
    • Bee swarm damage
    • Bee swarm critical defense debuff
    • Chance for attacks to return wrath
    • Execute Damage
    • Relentless maul damage
    • Turn the Tides damage

Since execute can only be used in bear form, the only difference between your 1H tanking/healing and 2H dps weapon is whatever runes/relics to slot; so if its all crit rating or offensively minded things in your 1H weapon you can use it for your man-form swappy in redline.

As for class items, I'd suggest
LI 5 -- (Imbued) Carving -- "General item"
    • Bond of Trust Heal Chance
    • Chance for bonus wrath from slam
    • Healing Potency
    • Hearten Heal Strength
    • Man form damage
    • Vicious Claw Damage
    • Thunderous Roar Cooldown

This one can be broken down into multiple class items for each tanking/healing/dps, but the difference between each is really small.
In Blueline, if you trait deep enough into redline for Composure you don't need the "Healing Potency" or "Hearten Heal Strength" legacies because they don't affect Composure (the traited version of Hearten), nor do you need Bond of Trust Heal Chance, so you could replace those 3 legacies with stat legacies (lol...) and/or "Cry Damage"/"Bear form critical defense" legacies.
In Redline you have the same issues as above, in addition to not needing Thunderous Roar Cooldown legacy.
In Yellowline you can replace Thunderous Roar as well, but there isn't really a great thing to replace it with.

Just to keep it simple for blue and yellow builds only, you can probably get by with just the LI 1 and 2 swappies at the top and LI 3 for a real class item. Sorry if I've complicated things here.

lol it is a bit complicated, but I really appreciate you taking the time to write everything down as I haven’t got a clue about bears.

So, if he is playing pretty casually (and I don’t think he’ll faff about with weapon-swapping or multiple LIs), I would take from this that he could just use the one carving (LI 5) and get by with two crafted one-handers for tank and heal? You said it was OK for healing, and the difference was only small for tanking ...

Basically, if he just sticks with the 2H axe and carving he has now, with the legacies you suggest for LI 4 and 5, do you reckon that will do? For just landscape and low-tier instances, can you manage with no LI weapon at all?

Actualy execute reduce your overal dmg done and also sink your SP. so better skip it.
Another little secret is that beor is the clas who can fulfil all 3 roles with 2 legendary items. Yes, healing line perform better with 1h, while 2h is optimal for blue and red. In pas we used 1h for yellow for faster wrath build. Now with wrath changes this is no longer required. Stil 1h is better for healing because of the stats offhander provide. Stil unless you push end tier raids or have extra mats for secind main hand Li i see no reason to go 1h. Ofc if you wana ruin your game experience you can go with 5+ Li.
Chimp is the only class who lose 30% of his performance if dont have 3 li to swap. Rest classes diference is like 5% and on beor is even less. Its you who decide.
    Have fun.

Thanks that’s really helpful. I’ll try and help him get hold of a couple 1-handers until his 2H axe is levelled up more, and help with grinding out a few crystals/scrolls. Good to know he doesn’t need multiple sets.

For healing which will be the easiest roll to fulfill two critter one handers that have vitality and crit will be fine. All of your healing lis are on your craving so that's what you need to invest in. The two 1 hander's are basically stat sticks so they are an easy way to make up for stats you're lacking in.
Tanking gets a little more complicated as mentioned but as for healing very very easy to gear

One of the reasons I picked a beorning for another alt was the simplicity according to these forums of their LIs, just one weapon 2H and one carving will do for all roles. So before going down the 5 LI route suggested here check some of the other forum posts, where someone provides simple 2 LI option.
Evernight - Walred (Champ), Walmur (RK), Walbert-2 (Cappy)

Don't worry, 5 LIs will definitely NOT be happening!

For now, I have made him 2 purple Ithil axes (realised really happily that these only take 30 ingots each, NO SHARDS!) and advised him to work on levelling up his carving. When he has enough crystals, he can start using his 2H LI as well.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions.
