I have found myself returning to your shores after many years, and wondered if it would be advisable to return to where I left.
Or if I would be best starting my journeys afresh?
I have several characters ranging from 40’s through to about 75 I believe.
But would I be lost at that level, or do you think it would be wiser to start from the beginning and I can always jump into one of the higher classes once I have re familiarised myself with the game?
I would also like somewhere to hang my travelling cloak and share some pipe weed or even create new adventures with a good group.
Any patient kinships looking for a new member, who is happy to jump on Discord, please let me know.
To be honest only you can answer that question depending on what you want from the game. I am guessing that the reason you were originally on Laurelin was because your timezone was either EU based or you enjoyed Roleplaying your character. If it is the latter then Laurelin is still the place to be and there are a good number of kins which still enjoy that aspect of the game.
There are also now multiple Discord channels in support of the game, the ones below are associated with RP and some of the ones I use. There are also some which deal with character builds and other gaming aspects, understanding the various race languages etc, and many more depending on what aspect of the game you are after!

Welcome back to Middle-earth!
I don't think it's ever useful to throw away a moderately leveled character. I'd definitely keep them.
If you happen to roleplay at all, or be interested in such, we'd welcome you with open arms to the Laurelin RP Discord! https://discord.gg/HxA6r4h
Even if you aren't sure about RPing, we're happy to help with questions about the game, questing, crafting, and anything else you may need to readjust to the game.
I migrated to Laurelin after the big server shake up, primarily as I am in an EU time zone and because I do have an interest in some RP, but I’m unsure how that translates into an online game. Only ever done pen and paper before.
I wouldn’t delete any of my existing characters, was more wondering if I would just be best starting over to find my feet. Or if it’s easy enough to pick up and I won’t miss much by jumping into a lvl 75 toon for example.
I’ll have a look though the Discord channel, thank you and I’ll get logged in and a few hours under my belt over the weekend, before I go looking for a kinship.

We have a lot of pen and paper and tabletop RPers who dip their toes in LOTRO RP Have no fear! It's not difficult to get started.
Looking forward to meeting you! If you need help with anything in the game; leveling, getting some new weapons or armor, etc, just give me a shout on my main character, Brynleigh.

No worries Dracon, I started pen and paper RP way too many years ago, back then there was no computerised options other then text MUDs!
The class mechanics have changed over the years some more than others, but the way quests work etc remains pretty much the same. One thing I can say and that is that SSG have at each expansion really pushed the boat out when it comes to the way they have created each new zone. So it is worth keeping at least one of your 75th characters so you can explore all these new zones which have come out since you left. A lvl 75 character will allow you to fully explore Rohan and its new housing zones.
The world player base is really nice as a whole so feel free to reach out in world chat or myself if you have any questions or need anything, or simply throw your question into one of the many discord channels.
Like you said jump into the world re-experience all Middle Earth has to offer and see where the journey takes you - have fun Dracon!
