    ...out of cheese.

The hobbits had sworn by the stuff; they'd extolled the virtue of cheese until it was considered well-nigh a universal tool. Not only could it harness recalcitrant goats, it could also be a tasty lunch in a pinch.

The dwarves, albeit the most brilliant inventors and sculptors of the land, had stayed up late into the night discussing the issue with some visiting hobbits. The fact that MUCH ale was consumed is almost certainly coincidental. Many dwarves awakened the following morning, and those who could remember anything at all, remembered that cheese was a mighty fine tool with which much could be accomplished.

Thus, many fine dwarven minds set themselves the task of turning good, old, hard cheese into the finest tools that Middle-Earth had ever seen.

The truth we know now is that the dwarves gave up on the venture eventually, and feasted many nights on the delicious results of their failed projects. However, dwarven generation after dwarven generation whispered of a rumour that would not die...a rumour of a vault filled with tools, deep within the halls of Moria so close to the heart of the earth that volcanic rivers warmed each hall. These tools, it is said, were magnificent. They were sharper than any blade, sharper than any in-law's tongue. Barely spoken of because of the fear of the blades and the shame of their loss, the word 'Stilton' nonetheless deeply resounds within many an elder dwarf's imagination.

    *****

LOL! Well, at least it made me laugh.

    With warmest wishes,
    Khally

Following extensive research Dwarf-folk determined that making tools out of iron was preferable to making them out of petrified goat droppings. While the droppings were left everywhere, and, theoretically, would get rid of a lot of it, the function part didn't really follow as a use for it

Following extensive research Dwarf-folk determined that making tools out of iron was preferable to making them out of Nori. They eventually decided to read from the left, so that they don't confuse one another anymore or scare the young dwarf everytime someone makes a mistake

Dwarf-folk determined that making tools out of iron was preferable to making them out of dragon's teeth. Iron was much easier to find.

    Cool Bird brained idea

Following extensive research Dwarf-folk determined that making tools out of iron was preferable to making them out of feathers. Although the tools were light and easy to maneuver they just couldn't get the job done.

Different feathers from an assortments of birds were tried but the bird watchers league protested in droves. Finally it was decided to use iron as iron was easier to spell as dwarves did not spell very well. In addition, Dwarfs lifting the extra weight showed all of Middle Earth how strong they really were.

    Dwarf tools...

Following extensive research Dwarf-folk determined that making tools out of iron was preferable to making them out of petrified goat droppings. Moria could more an enough supply the demand for petrified goat droppings but the tools created never quite felt, or smelled, right...

They should, like, combine Pizza and Nachos and call them Pizznachos. Man, I could really go for some Pizznachos right now.

Following extensive research Dwarf-folk determined that making tools out of iron was preferable to making them out of their enemies. While they have many enemies, such as orcs and goblins, they've proven as useless as tools than as enemies.
