Please bring back being able to redeem codes for expansions!

I would love it if this was somehow brought back as an option for purchasing expansions and/or VIP codes.

    My reasoning is simple -

Sometimes, it is great to buy these for friends as gifts.

It is a lot easier to purchase the expansion, get the code and then give the code to the friend to redeem rather than the current method of giving them the funds to get it themselves... especially with the VAT not showing on the advertised price.

Just something to consider as it will probably increase incomes rather than reduce

Yeah that was a pretty 'bold' marketing move just before the holiday season.

There definitely needs to be some way to be able to purchase in the store items as gifts intended for other players.

Only if the code is an option. I loved just having the expansion go straight into my account.

If this is brought back, I hope that the "trading codes for in-game gold" practice is not also brought back.

I remember seeing the prices in AH escalating as the demand for gold to buy many items needed for playing and crafting (SoE/crystals/required crafting items that were only instance/raid drops) also increased exponentially. The items would often be bought up and relisted at a higher price to drive up the demand for gold - you would often see more than one page of items listed by one or two names of sellers all selling at the same price so it was very apparent what was being done.

Then, once the need for massive amounts of in-game gold was established, people would purchase these VIP/LP/expansion codes using real money from LOTRO market or other places and then trade them to other players for in-game gold that was needed to craft gear or be able to improve your weapon enough to play the game.

The game has changed drastically now as the new Items of Legend do not have the insatiable hunger for SoE and crystals that the Imbued LIs had and the damage output depends on reforging at certain levels rather than using massive amounts of scrolls/crystals - I am glad for that!

I have not had a chance to see how the crafting for the higher levels will be handled with this new expansion. I hope that crafting also changes to a format that is a little bit friendlier to those who do not raid and and raid/instance drops are not required for basic sets of level appropriate armour as has been the case since level 115 armours were available.

    Just my opinion :-)
