Thank you devs for continuing to work on the housing!

Just a few words of gratitude! Seeing that the housing decoration system got a little attention in the upcoming update is very reassuring. The yard hooks have also been consolidated into a single type slot! It's great to see that the decoration system is given the attention it needs, and for that I am grateful! And I am sure I am not the only one. Hopefully, the work continues and we see more useful changes.
    Thanks!

    Ditto!

And really like the new minimalist set-up with task boards. No more riding between the board and the chest!

However, it's a little fiddly to actually select that right piece of paper! The titles overwrite each other. Maybe make the boards a bit bigger so the papers aren't so crowded? Also, my U key can't toggle between papers, doesn't select them at all (Have U set to select 'usable item').

Just a little more tweaking and the new boards will be perfect!

Agreed! I made a post here with some detail about that:
    https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthr...-Housing-Areas

If I might suggest something that you might find helpful not only for the task boards but while playing in general: Go into your OPTIONS->KEYBINDS and change your keybind which is currently set to "select nearest item" to "select next item". On the first tap of that key, it will work exactly the same as "select nearest item" but subsequent taps will begin cycling through other items nearby, starting with the closest and working outwards in a radius from your character. This makes it possible to select what you want instead of only the thing that's closest to you.

Yes, that's actually how I have it set up. That key is so helpful for finding quest items, etc. Have another key set to select next npc, and then a key for using, all next to each other. Makes it possible to select and use items/npcs with one hand!

Housing has become my passion feature over the last couple of years, and I'm dedicated to doing what I can to help improve the system within the boundaries that we have for it. The task boards were, for me, a cumbersome system that ate up a lot of real estate in the neighborhoods - what's live now helps some of that, and I am going to continue polishing it as I discover ways to help address some of its usability issues.

I noticed a few days ago that Model of Orthanc got fixed so that you don't clip right through it anymore. A pint of ale to you, Mr. Scenario.

I can't take any credit for that. But I'll send the thanks along if it was something someone did indeed address.

Yeah, this change was quite nice. It will make it easier for a doofus like me to play around with the housing

Messed up TaskBoards in Housing Area

OK I accept that the older taskboards were not great and more space was needed for higher-level tasks going forwards. But why the HECK put them as tiny notes, posted on top of each other so that if you want to use the click method you have to mess about in 1st person or mess around with keybinding to make it next rather than nearest item. I also guess I missed the announcement about this new messed up system. Surely there was space to have the notes placed further apart to prevent this overlap issue?

This change snuck out earlier than anticipated, and because of that, final polish was not complete. I apologize if the usability isn't spot on as yet, but trust that I am working on it.

A big ask, perhaps, but any chance that there will be plans for players to own more than one (ordinary, not premium) personal house?

It's something we are interested in investigating but outside of that I don't have any other information to share.

Don't get me wrong, I know there are plenty of other things that are being prioritised. It's just something that could certainly do with an update, especially for those with alts of multiple different races (so, a dwarf house, bree house, etc).

Maybe Scenario will see this and can provide an answer: what is "Mobile Yard"? Under the decoration category on the item tooltips, it says "Yard, Mobile Yard".

that would indeed be a nice addition. it would also provide a (albeit small) additional gold sink for non-premium housing enthusiasts. and a place to put all that furniture that sits inside the housing chest.

on topic: really love the changed yard hooks on my old dwarven hut in thorins hall!

I think the issue with this is that considering the rather cheap prices for houses, about 130 gold would buy a single character an ENTIRE neighborhood. There would be nothing left to claim if it was an all out free for all.

Perhaps a happy medium here would be the option of purchasing a second "house slot" so to speak with lotro points. That way you can "unlock" a second house, a third house, etc.... and after the unlock buy a second house for in-game gold, but it would prevent people to just buy out entire neighborhoods.
Moved from Riddermark to Arkenstone on 9/29/2015!

That was my concern as well. However, one per housing area should suffice both to satisfy players who want multiple standard houses and prevent that potential problem.

The travel home skills for standard housing areas could all share the same cooldown.

Thank you so much! LOTRO's housing is one of the best in the MMO market imo, and changes like this only continue to sell me on it huhu.

Some trickery was needed to make the exterior hooks for Erebor housing function correctly. Yards in that neighborhood will have a set of hooks that operates more akin to interior hooks in order to avoid weird "snap to ground" behaviors. I'm not super happy with the terminology "Mobile Yard" but I wasn't really sure what else to call them.

I have my keybindings set so that all of the selection keys (object, PC, NPC, target, etc.) also have the same corresponding keys to cycle forward or backward. I use SHIFT for forward and CTRL for backwards. So DEL selects nearest object, SHIFT+DEL cycles next object, and CTRL+DEL cycles previous object. Having a uniform selection format helps me keep my hands on the keyboard and not fumbling with the mouse.

Is it required to have the word Yard in it; could you call it Lawn, or Terrace, or Garden or something like that?

I posted this in another thread but doing so here too that it may get a better chance to be seen by the devs...

I went to turn in some tasks in my neighborhood but I cant seem to get the desired task list to even show up even after several attempts to painstakingly pick it off the board. The ranges between 61 to 70 and 71 to 80 I can never get to display. Some of the others are intermittent especially after several attempts to open. Hope this gets fixed soon.
