    Microsoft trying to buy Blizzard

Any big shift like this will obviously affect the whole of the industry...

    Talks of a new metaverse.

It is not only Blizzard. It is all of Activision. Maybe they thought, after the subpar performance of New World, they'd rather leave this work to the specialists. (to anyone who is confused: learning from others works in many ways.)

Have to wait and see what affects this will have.

But Microsoft will have a lot to do plus this doesn't all take affect until an estimated date of June 30th, 2023: https://activisionblizzard.com/newsr...ing-the-future

Transactions like these can take a long time to complete. Until we receive all the necessary regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions are satisfied, which we expect to be sometime in Microsoft’s fiscal 2023 year ending June 30, 2023, we will continue to operate completely autonomously.
We've seen in other Industries where Groups basically building a Monopoly have had certain transactions such as this shut down or stalled to the point that they haven't occurred yet. Nvidia trying to acquire Arm, a Semiconductor maker, has seen not only USA but China pushing Regulatory issues & concerns of how this would negatively impact the industry.

But if it does go through, Microsoft's XBox Game Pass Ecosystem will likely see a big boost but they are taking in a Group who has a very bad reputation and has seen an exodus across it's games granted even when such occurs folks will still play certain games such as those under the Call of Duty Franchise, Overwatch, World of Warcraft, etc. There will be a lot of cleaning house if this actually goes through.

Did I start this thread in off-topic?

I wonder why mods moved it considering all the other off-topic stuff gets left in General? Even more suspicions haha

There is talk that all Activision Blizzard titles would come under the microsoft game pass and therefore certain titles will be available to the client under that model.

Hard for others to compete but great for the consumer.

Perhaps because it had nothing to do with SSG/LotRO?

How can paying a single sub and now not only have access to microsoft canon but also activision blizzard content not be relevant to any of us?

It technically has nothing to do with LOTRO or SSG.

It isn't formalized, Activision Blizzard is still their own entity until such is fully allowed by Regulations, etc and LOTRO & SSG aren't being affected by it indirectly or directly.

LOTRO isn't apart of either Microsoft's or Activisions Blizzards Ecosystems pending LOTRO "possibly" coming to the Microsoft Xbox Series X/S Consoles at an unknown Date and even then there is nothing to say that it would have anything to do with it. It would be doubtful LOTRO would have any Xbox Game Pass elements as it is a Free to Play Game, has it's own Subscription Service, etc.

Which as it stands we have no clue if such will ever be a possibility.

SSG still hasn't given their 2022 Development Plan and haven't spoken a word about EG7 & Daybreak's Plans/Goals for LOTRO.

This may be fairly short-sighted in that this industry has a very fine margin to give consumers the feeling of satisfaction for their money.

Currently we don't have a server environment that works and most of last years development is broken or unfinished and now we may get two behemoth of a myriad of games of all types - mobi-console and PC and offering it all nicely packaged under one basic transaction (there will always be addons) and you think this doesn't affect our game?

Not only does it hold a barrier up to new players looking to spend wisely but also those long standing players who are faithful to the subject but are getting sick of seeing all their hard earned and spent cash being wasted by terrible decisions.

I see no other reason to hide this away as quickly as it was and in the not well travelled and hidden areas.

I understand the logic behind blind ignorance... it is a protection, right? No acknowledgment = no problems

Even though that purchase might affect everyone, strictly speaking it is no news about Lotro/SSG, so the off-topic category is spot on. I don't think we have to assume a conspiracy there. And: I make it a habit to check "new posts" whenever I call up the forums, so see - it can be found without a problem.

And just a question: What kind of acknowledgement on SSG's part did you expect? "Yeah, we read this, too."? I would suppose as much, so I don't need a comment from them about it.

Ok, I'll tell you why it's moved here. The description under general discussion is "General Discussion and feedback about LOTRO."

Last I heard, Microsoft and Activision are not LOTRO.

How is it hidden? Off Topic is an open part of the forums.

And just a quick question: Where did I ask SSG for a comment? Says more from where your mindset is. We are not all blue name trophy hunters.

What it does do, is open a conversation where the community can discuss the impacts other games should and do have on Lotro. Regardless of whether the decision makers take any note will be borne out in due course.

Why would anybody keep paying for a broken game just because they love the source material. We've all done it for 15 years but there comes a time when paying less and getting inordinate amounts more should make any business think now and act soon.

I can't really put it any simpler and as we are buried down here and there is no dialogue to be had then roll on Actisoft and there meta-verse

The discussion was clearly of interest to the wider gaming public but had nothing to do with LOTRO or Standing Stone Games. So, the appropriate place to make such a post would be Off Topic. I moved it due to common sense.

And stop discussing my mindset - you know nothing about it. If I didn't understand that sentence the way you meant, then the only reason is that English is not my native language. Now why would you insult me because of that?

This is even off the original topic of this thread. I can share your opinion on this, but: Is this what you wanted to talk about all the time?

I am not allowed to disagree in dialogue so I will acknowledge your acknowledgement (I bet you only replied because I said I didn't seek you blue bods to chime in and so touche!)

You seem to be doing a good enough job of insulting yourself. I have no issue with you or your designation - it is you who had the issue with me bringing up this story.

Lol, no, I was trying to explain why this would be in the right spot in the "off-topic" category and obviously I didn't understand why you had such an issue with it being moved.

But I think we don't have to take this any further. We could just agree it was a misunderstanding :-)

Where did the 'report spam' function go? Because ^this necro^ post is exactly that, and should be reported.
