So I've got a few dropped items that can be turned in for tasks in lieu of being sold for money. I am currently in the Lone-Lands. How do I go about doing this? Also, in other regions of Middle Earth, how is this done? Thank you!
There are several ways to go about this. There are few I know who find the task boards as they venture through the area. They will appear as little feathers on the map. You can get the quests when you pass them. This way, you know what you are looking for as you explore the region. However, many actually dislike the fact that it updates when you collect them. The only way to prevent them from invading your current quest objectives is by locking the ones you want to keep on your screen.
The second thing you could do is simply do a search. Just going to the wiki page - https://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Tasks_Bulletin_Board - and type in the item into the browser search to find where you can turn it in. There are some tasks that can be turned into several locations, some of these will reward you with the faction's reputation. Helm's Deep is probably the only area where they also reward you tokens. As time goes by, you may want to plan ahead as some of these task items can be bartered in the very next region.
The third thing you could do is visit the Task Board in a housing district. Many people don't realize the full potential of having a simple home you can port to with services, task boards, and a far-reaching stable that can take you places normal stables don't reach (like Party Tree & 21st Hall). Although the task boards have been condensed to three small boards with flyers on them, you can still browse them by region and level.
So how do I turn in 50 blackened sword-sheaths in the Lone-Lands for tasks?
In this example, I went to the website and did a Ctrl + F search. There are two locations you can turn them in at. One is at Bree and the other is at the Forsaken Inn. You can go to any housing district, find the task board that is close by a stable, get the proper quest from the board, then turn them in (generally the chest right next to it). But know that just because you find items in a specific region does not mean you turn them into that same region.
Task items tell you in which region they can be used when you hover your mouse over them.
Then go to a larger settlement in that region and find the task board. Pick up the quest there and the quest will tell you where to hand in iirc.
Handing in varies by region. Sometimes you hand in at an npc, sometimes on the task board itself, most of the time at a chest at the foot of the board.
However, many actually dislike the fact that it updates when you collect them. The only way to prevent them from invading your current quest objectives is by locking the ones you want to keep on your screen.
There is the option "Automatically add tasks to quest tracker" that governs whether or not task quests are added to your quest tracker.
You might find this easier than locking quests in your tracker.

That's cool. I wonder if that was there this whole time. I never concerned myself with the issue because I liked going to a board after a session and having the objective come up temporarily to double-check when I accept the quest from the board. I have encountered a few who do like having them added to their quest objectives to keep track of it. At least now I can pass on the knowledge of the option if anyone ever complains about that specific issue.
