[Event] Vanimar's 14th Grand Elven Ball

Vanimar presents you all… the 14th Grand Elven Ball!

“On its FOURTEENTH event, The Annual Grand Elven Ball awaits you. Please do as you have done kindly in the last thirteen years, consider that this event is aimed to be an elven themed event and every non-elf you bring would make it seem less elven. If you are not particularly invited with your Dúnedain, Men, your Dwarves or Hobbits and if you have a proper elven alt, it would be very helpful to attend with them instead of your mighty humans, dwarf lords or hobbitses. Still it's up to you! (If you want to explain your presence to the cold Hammerites.)

We do kindly await the arrival of you and yours at the event. Some of you have received in game invitations and some have not. To clarify things, we want to declare that this is still an open event with some racial limitations and any Elf who wishes to come to see the biggest and largest synchronized dancing display won't be turned down.

The guest band will be The Bullroarers, performing in the Ball for the first time.

OOC: “As usual we consider that the event actually is taking place in Rivendell indoors despite the Falathlorn address, so let's all pretend that our kinhall is a venue somewhere in the valley. This is due to a measure towards containing possible grieving attempts. In a real venue in Rivendell we have no buttons to contain a bad situation, and Falathlorn is a bridge too far. So no need to perform a two week long pilgrimage to dance in character. If you are in Rivendell, come! If not, come again!”

1st Ball

It all started with a naive attempt to dedicate a Ball to the elven roleplayers a decade ago. An event to set aside all disagreements and be united in a lighthearted dancing event, also a celebration for our kin anniversary. Without much expectation we gave it a go...

Few of you might still remember the First Grand Elven Ball back in November 2008 :



It was a nice event! One of the first of its kind. You did all honor us by joining to our humble event in such numbers and as a result, we made it an annual event next year, properly titled as The 2nd Annual Grand Elven Ball, in October 2009 as some of you remember :

Second event is still considered to be one of the best in the kinship in the terms of spontaneousness, improvisation and the quality of music. The attendance were greater than the first and overwhelming for us. We had but no option to work harder for the 3rd, October 2010 :

Third event was very rich in artistic taste. Since we were more experienced in such events, we knew a bit better what the audience were capable of if directed properly in a synchronized dancing event. Costumes, quality of dancing, roleplaying and the general sense of a ''Ball'' was much more genuine than the first two. We had to work harder to surpass the Third Ball.

5th Ball

In the Fifth Grand Elven Ball Landroval-Laurelin dual server band Andunië rocked at this event. The musical quality had been elevated to such a level that few would dare to reach that high. The dances were not any lesser than the music either.

6th Ball

Then next event, the sixth, unleashed in 2014 after an interval year. This time we had chosen a non-elven band for the first time. Amorey and The Hobbit Heart played their wonderfully arranged scores all night. It must have been hard to play so long in front of a never ending feast and dancing. Anyways the dances were exceptionally well timed last year also thanks to our new dancemistress Eliriael. You can still access the last year’s invitation thread here.







7th Ball

Seventh event portrayed yet another great coordination with the band and the dancemaster. The big dance circles were particularly grand in this one! Also the richest menu of the Elven Ball history was served to the visitors.

8th Ball

Eighth event was unleashed in November 2016. It was one of the richest in music score of all Elven Ball events thanks to the contributions of the Vanimar's own music band The Lindamar. The rich banquet menu has also become the annual event's highlights next to the dancing. In this particular year a Hobbit lady have earned the first ever "The best dancer prize" from the clutches of .. well a million of elven dancers. Well done Miss Rilla of Shire!

9th Ball

The Ninth of the Great Elven Ball series was held in November 2017. Again, Norlirel as a dancemistress showed great skill and the music was shared between the hobbit band The Shire Rose and Vanimar's own band Lindamar. Was a memorable event by all accounts.

Finally in 2018 we reached to a DECADE of these Elven ball events. It was the only year which portrayed an outside fireworks show. It always eluded me why elves have been stockpiling explosives in the neighborhood. Glad they were disposed in such a nice manner. It was yet another grand dancing event!

Thank you to all who joined in on the fun on 2020! Thank you to the bands, of course! But a special thank you goes out to our friendly and helpful kin members who sacrificed many a night to prepare for this evening! Without you all this would not have been possible. And of course, thanks to all our wonderful guests who enriched our evening with tales and exquisite dancing!

One week to go before the Ball!

The wear is formal and the banquet menu is now available.

This event is also for the 15th anniversary of Vanimar but in nature the Ball has always been an opportunity for a night of merriment and to create connections with the Elf roleplay community in Laurelin, known as the long standing RP server.
