Server Transfer from Treebard/Shadowfax to Live Servers

Dear SSG.

with the waning of player numbers on the remaining legendary servers, especially after exodus related to the unannounced Isengard release, I request to open up server transfers - even paid ones - from Treebeard/Shadowfax to other servers. Some of your paying premium customer want to get their chars off the "dying" legendary servers and are stuck.

They don't open transfers when Anor have 20-30 players in prime-time, why they need to open them right now?

Hey!

I think SSG should allow players the option to move their stuff to live servers. Unfortunately for me and a lot of people I know legendary servers turned out to be a bit of a let down, as the servers have been neglected quite substantially (loot tables not adjusted, instance difficulty not adjusted, reward track of live servers on legendary servers, loot drops for char levels we will not reach for months or even years,….)

The legendary servers are what they are and that is fine, however players should get the option to move chars they spent time and money on to live servers as SSG does not put the effort into legendary servers to keep the player base healthy.

People on legendary servers are all VIP status and should get a fair choice to stay or move to live.

They have already addressed this in several streams over the past few months, as the question has been asked before.

This was their answer, more or less:

1) Shadowfax will close this year (3rd Quarter) and free transfers will be expected some time before that. Shadowfax will reach 130 in March, and 140 in June so it will most certainly close within 2, 3 months after that.

2) Treebeard will not get any transfers for some time. If Treebeard gets the same approach as Anor, it won't have any paid transfers till it has reached level 130, and free transfers when it reaches cap level. The problem with Treebeard is that it is the slow server, so it won't reach level 150 (assuming that will be the cap by end 2023) before 2028, and by then the cap will likely be at least 160, maybe even 170, or "crunched" to a lower comparable level. Only if they decide to close Treebeard prematurely, they may open up transfers sooner, but that is currently not in the cards.

What I can see happening is that by the end of this year a NEW, "regular speed" Legendary Server will be launched, with about 4 months per expansion like Anor/Ithil, and when it reaches the same level as Treebeard (somewhere in 2025 then), they may close Treebeard and move everyone over to the new server at that time. But this is pure speculation.

Either way, TL;DR: Shadowfax will get transfers this year, Treebeard not for many years.

Some people, myself included are attached to their characters. While I understand that I could simply make another toon on live and quickly level, I still want to play my chars I feel attached to.
Moreover I spent real money on carry alls and some expansion gimmicks are stuck in treebeard as well!

As for myself: When I made my chars I checked the “server transfer” page that is linked on the launcher. The link leads to an outdated old page that is not up to date any longer. From the page I assumed I could transfer off Treebeard as only Anor and Ithil are mentioned to be locked for transfer to live. I could have researched more for sure, but the main info as a returning player I got when I looked up transfer guidelines from the launcher link are misleading. I think SSG should at least allow paid transfer from leg servers to live, as there are people like me that have been mislead by the link from the launcher. And please update the launcher link!!! It is still not updated!

A lot of people have been misled by legendary servers, you aren't the first. We were told over and over again that there are no plans to shut down any legendary servers, and then Severlin let it out that every legendary server will close and in fact new ones will be released (which will be horrible for the existing populations). We still have new players joining Treebeard every day expecting this to be a real server, but SSG's mindset (I'm quoting from Severlin here) is that legendary servers are not our 'main' servers and that we would go back once the experience is over.

If SSG does anything with legendary servers it should be to focus 100% on the one they have now, make it a better experience for players and draw more new players to it. Drop this mindset that these are temporary escapes from live servers and realize that people built main characters, kinships, and communities on these servers and poured a lot of time and money into them.
