    Middle-earth Feedback: Ost Forod

In the northern reaches of the Lake Evendim region, treasure-hunters following rumors of lost treasure established a town and trading post in the ruins of the old fortress of Ost Forod. Recently, a less savory element has entered the ranks of the Men of Ost Forod in the form of brigands and tomb-robbers.

Nicely designed. The first view of the place that you get, generally from the south, is quite striking, with it's location up on the hill. I was especially fond of the NPC conversation (including a lady of ill-repute!) and the small gladiator pit on the eastern slope.

All I can say is... I want to use Uppercut on some of the unfriendly men there!

Put a bank in this location and make it halfway useful. Better yet how about some fast travel to get there?

I think that was a Book 11 addition, but you can now get from West Bree to Ost Forod.

Ost Forod, like Tinnudir, seems to be missing a minimap waypoint. With as tightly packed as enemies are in that area, bringing up the big map to orient yourself can cause trouble, but there are no gold arrows to point out the quest centers.

Other than that, I found Ost Forod and the rest of Evendim pretty enjoyable. The wood trolls of the Twisted Grove are somewhat overpowered (or maybe just overpopulated) for the quest level, and the relic recovery quest in Men Erain has a respawn rate that is too fast for that to be a reasonable solo quest.

i hate that whole region with a fiery passion, as a lvl 32 dwarf champion. I can't even travel on the roads without being shanked by packs of wolves, robbers, and angry deers that stun me and let the rest of the enemies catch up and kill me, not to mention that the wolves give me a limp so i'm horribly slow

    Re: Middle-earth Feedback: Ost Forod

I liked Ost Forod in two different ways. The first was the "Wanted" posters to capture the local fugitives. Nice touch with a different feel to the typical NPC -> Quest -> NPC schema. I also liked the fact that "If I had time I could go nab a bad-guy."

Second is the feel of the town. Not quite that you were welcome by all occupants. Something I expected more of from travelling to different towns in Middle Earth (even Bree). It felt Tolkien-ish.
