    So no mechanized ostrich, huh?

Ok, let's have a compromise: Hobbit mounts. i.e. a pair of hobbits that you can strap to your feet like shoes, and they'd carry you around? It would finally give a use for those little ferrets!

    You win!

I would prefer dwarfs as the manly screams and free ale cupholders would be better than hobbit mounts wandering off to find pie.

    • We've learned that players like a healthy mix of monster moods on the landscape.
    • We've learned that elite monsters within mixed spawns are a bad idea.
    • We've learned that players aren't fans of roads with heavy monster patrols.
So happy to hear those from you And will be more happy to hear complete notes soon

Sounds great! I'm interested in seeing how this cold/warm things works out. I just hope it doesn't turn into some type of nuisance system. Could be interested when tied together with the hope/dread system though, as long as buffing yourself against the cold actually lasts for a decent amount of time (ie 30 minutes to an hour).

Devs DID say there was going to be a new mount that would "go where horses wouldn't dare" at some point, but devs have since said there will be nothing but a different kind of horse in this book. Maybe the one dev mispoke or let the cat out of the bag on a future (not book 13) mount.

There's an interview floating around the internet that states plainly we won't have footsteps in the snow... no user controlled boats... and no user controlled sleds. Tried to remember what i googled to pull it up the first time but no luck so far

How do you arrive at this? Strange, I am playing this game on a pretty outdated system. The system is four years old and makes some of the systems players have look primitive by comparison. But it still runs the game fine and there has been no "decreasing performance" over the course of the last few updates. In fact, I'd say the game performs somewhat better now than it has in a good long time.

Some people just can't be happy about anything. I've got no clue why they even bother to play when they are so unhappy.

I'm excited about this new zone. Everything I read in the dev diary (thanks Scenario!) looks good. I'm not a big fan of desolation, and would not enjoy it if too many desolate zones start popping up in the game, but the shots of this zone look good, and they look COLD. I love the idea of cosmetic temperature effects. I never thought I'd see the day!

I hope you guys can keep this up. This is great stuff. I am loving this game like I haven't loved a game in a very long time!

No, I don't think it was a mistake, but SOMEHOW, players got the two different parts of the announcement crossed in their heads: 'New variation for Bk 13, and non-horse mount for some time in the future.'

Anyways: Zone looks fantastic; can't wait to see the Aurora in person. I'm hoping it won't be static.

because they are ignorant to computers, and probably have about 2,000 items of spyware bogging down their system. Ive actually seen people complain like this, and their whole computer would be hijacked by spyware (Desktop and all), and have about 20 items sitting in their system tray. Just flat out ignorance in most cases like this.

Maybe a dogsled? In one of the pictures previously posted, there was a sled (although it did not show the dogs, the sled certainly looked like a dogsled).

One thing I miss about SWG was being able to earn faction (reputation) with one particular group that may one day help save your behind from a tight spot when battling mutal enemies. That was another way to use the "environment" to your advantage.

The addition of cold effects sound like an interesting change to the game. Using the environment as an enemy sounds pretty cool and gives a chance for further use in other 'hostile' zones.

I know that equality is certainly a nice goal in games like this, but it would be interesting to see the cold affect different races to different degrees. Dwarves and Elves, for example, should be much more tolerant to the effects of cold than Men or Hobbits.

Of course, youall know this means we can expet to see HOT as a detrimental enviornment effect too in places like Mordor, and some deep places in the world.
    And perhaps in burning buildings?

Kind of a fluff question, but what about new costumes for new environments? Furry parka, anyone?
