No lottery when F2P starts?

I was just wondering if the lottery will be discontinued once F2P starts up. From reading post about the DDO store, a lot of what we get in the lottery is stuff that we will have to buy in the future. Anyone have any thoughts about this? Turbine or Devs, any info you can pass on? Thanks in advance.

They have a lottery for DDO. LOTRO lotteries aren't likely to be going anywhere.

^What they said. DDO has lotteries. I personally have won quite a few of them. I'm certain LotRO's lotteries will continue.

I'll shed a bit more light on this. DDO's lottery system went live after the game went Free-to-Play. I've seen the next version of the lottery system the team is working on. It gives us a lot more control as to what we can put into the system, and in what quantities. So not only will lotteries continue, I expect them to get better!

Yeah lotteries were a very recent addition, pretty sure added since I started playing in the last two months. The items on the lotteries, in fact, are largely store items (healing items, experience boosting potions, guest passes to adventure packs, etc.).

So will we get Turbine points from the lotto too or just items we can purchase in the store? I hope the other fun lottos don't go away just because there are store items. I like getting fireworks an beer in the lotto. It's made my hobbit a walking party!!

I think there is another misconception in this post which needs to be addressed (whether it be on the side of the OP or on the side of myself).

Items such as morale, power, wound, fear, disease and poison pots that are available in-game now will still be available through the same methods as before, as well as now being offered in the LOTRO "store" for purchase with Turbine points, correct?

I bring this up because of the phrase "have to buy" in the original post.

What happens with the chances of winning a lottery when free players start loading up on entries? Should lotteries be a VIP perk only? I'm not sure that fits the business model, though, since lotteries can be another flytrap, keeping free players entering with the promise of getting some goods. On the other hand, if they enter and win and never use what they win it's as bad as session players winning, which screws over everyone else.

I'm sure they will be able to set lottories for each group, just like they can for race or class or craft. I'll have to go check the DDO lottos. I didn't know they had them, but in retrospec, should have. I would not be surprised to see lotteries for just F2P, just Premium, and just VIP, or any combination.
