    Re: Forum Signature

Well, my characters finally showed up to choose from for a signature but now, nobody's sigs will show including mine. All I get is the dreaded red X in the box.

It's odd. Seems the sigs are off one day, then on the next. Off during one part of the day and on another. They're on for me again this morning and last night, but Thursday afternoon I couldn't see them. *shrug* I dunno boss, I dunno.

    Re: Forum Signature

There's definitely still a problem. My current signature has a character and it is working fine. The format is

    http: // lotrosigs.level3.turbine.com/[ALONGNUMBER]/[ASHORTNUMBER]/signature.png

However, if you try to go into settings to get the URL for a different character, the URL is in the format

    http: // lotrosigs.level3.turbine.com/[ALONGNUMBER]/signature.png

The short number is missing, and as a result I think that is why we get the red X instead of the image.

    Re: Forum Signature

I still get an error when I visit the "My Character Settings" tab to view my characters. The signatures also don't appear working, so I'll just keep waiting. I hope F2P will be able to post signatures.

Well, now I see some people's signatures but not others. It's strange that all the ones that do show are for level 65 characters. I don't see a single one for anyone under 65. Mine still doesn't work and it does have the long and short numbers.

The ones that do work are images/URLs still cached by our CDN. As they start expiring out of the CDN, they disappear because the URL our CDN fetches from is currently down. We have a fix coming incredisoon(tm) though.

Good to know it's being worked on I'm just glad I can post as Iolana again, instead of my alt account. Good job.

For the forum admins: As an example of signature image links not working (as of 20 Sept), the link below worked on the old boards but is now nonfunctional.

    charsig=http://lotrosigs.level3.turbine.com/04208000000017642/01003/signature.png]Beaumaris[/charsig

Add brackets at the front and back ends to complete the link code.

    Re: Forum Signature

I recently tried to bring up my signature again, and I have like 100 characters that are a bunch of jumbled letters and numbers that won't seem to delete themselves. I am not getting a message that I have too many characters in your signature because of it. It's not a big thing, but I'm glad that the Dev's are working on it.

My signature, my kin page, my character stats - Nothing works since they rolled out this LOTRO Community Beta. I'm very frustrated and disappointed.

Well, at least it still has the beta tag and they haven't removed it prematurely like I've seen done so many times by other vendors.

If you try to recreate your sig, too, you'll find that the '01003' segment is gone in the newly created URL.

    Re: Forum Signature

Under my signature portion of the forum settings, I can only select my Landroval character, which I just created yesterday. My main is on Riddermark unfortunately. I have not tried to see if the sig would show up or not, but will keep checking every now and then. At least the character stats/log are looking to be working correctly.

My sig finally died. . I'm hoping that after I've re-set it up that it will work with this post. I also uploaded an avatar, but never seen it yet...

EDIT: Avatar - Nope. Signature - Nope. How soon is "incredisoon" again?

Although I think Duwis said, incredisoon(tm)

Note the lower-case i, the lack of quotes, and use of (tm) although technically is should be ™, but we'll get to that later

When we run it through the translation blog we can infer that:

    1. Since calendars are printed 6 months prior to the new year and generally only run for 12 or 18 months then we are talking about a time frame of 18 months at most.
    2. Since they "found the calendar" it implies that the calendar in question had been misplaced for "some period of time."
    3. This means they a) had an older 2010 calendar or b) as it's October, have a shiny new 2011 calendar.
    4. If it's option "b)", that shortens the period time to 15 months but for most of us this is unthinkable, so we'll go with option "a)"
    5. Since were talking a 2010 calendar and since there only 86 days left (at the time of this post) that is the time frame for this incredisoon
    6. Addressing capitalization, specifically the lack thereof; The use of capitalization is relative measure, so having 0 (zero) capitals means that we should infer the shortest possible time frame. Keep this in mind, it's important.
    7. Finally, the use of ™ denotes a "longer period of time than the word or phrase would otherwise represent". Since this is still limited to the 86 day time frame, then incredisoon is the latter half of the 86 day period rather than the near half...unfortunately...HOWEVER ...
    8. Because of the Capitalization rule we can infer the shortest possible time frame in that latter half, which is 1 day beyond the half-way point, soooo....
    9. The answer to how soon is incredisoon(tm)? In this case? It's 44 days out, or Nov 19, 2010, but since Duwis used (tm) rather than ™ there may now be a rip in the time/space continuum, so figure it's on or about that date

OK! We’re done messin’ around. We have a date, we’ve found the calendar we wrote it on, and we are going to tell you. Like right freakin’ shortly! Seriously!

    . . .

Modifiers, adjustments, and other fun stuff.
    Capitalization
As a general rule, capitalization will tip you off as to a measurement’s place in time. Capital letters denote a longer period of time than lower case letters. This applies to all uses of capitalization when dealing with time. Thus Soon is longer than soon. Like wise, MoreSoonerish, Moresoonerish, and moresoonerish are all incremetally shorter periods from longest to shortest.
    TM and its uses
The notorious ™ has very specific meanings. It denotes a longer period of time than the word or phrase would otherwise represent without the addition of the ™.
    Quotes
The use of quotes, like the use of TM and Capitalization has specific meaning. It is another measure of extending the noted period of time. Though it denotes a shorter extension than either ™ or Capitalization.
    Combined notation
When you see a combination of modifiers (™, quotes, and capitalization) you must consider the impact of all modifiers on the base measurement. The more modifiers, the larger the expansion of time from the base measurement.

My Problem lies a little differently
I have 7 Characters and 3 Monster Play Characters on Landroval [My Only Server], and the List is only showing the first 6 Alphabetical, And not even the Monster Play Toons. This is how they are Ordered:
    Dejaren
    Karnaz
    Stayne
    Staynian
    Tharnaz
    Thorvahad

    Ugluuck [MP]
    Uzurug [MP]
    Wulferic [Main Character]
    Wulfery [MP]

The Problem is, I would like Wulferic as my Signature... and it's not showing on the list...

How do I fix this problem to show Wulferic?

That is odd; nothing you can do about it, but we are looking into the issue.

    Unhappy Re: Forum Signature

I didn't have time to look through the entire forums, so will someone please answer this for me real fast?

Is there a way to have more than one character signature in your forum signature?

When I cut & paste the [charsig http...yadda, yadda]undefined[/charsig] from one character, it works fine, but when I put two or more in the signature box, it only shows the first one.

I just want to know if it's possible and it's just borked atm...or if it's not possible, so I don't waste my time trying to get it to work.
