Undelete a character. Thank you!
I lost a 65 Champ a while back. I've started to lv another champ and got him to 53 but I just put in my ticket for a $20.00 65 geared out Champ.
Thank you!!

Seems a reasonable paid service that would help a fair few people who hastily deleted some good toons.
However, they can undelete characters.. but they can't restore characters, or restore items on characters for people who've been hacked?
Makes sense. I guess.
It would be nice to know how far back they go. I am sure there is start time before which the character data is no longer available.
Unless stated otherwise, all content in this post is My Personal Opinion.

Turbine will now undelete a character for $20.
Quite a good idea i guess if you accidently delete a toon or your account is hacked?
My question is... does this mean we are one step closer to being able to transfer our characters from one sub to another? I have been waiting for this service for a long time. There is a very very long thread requesting it too.
Please turbine, it would make my week...
Any devs able to shine the light on this?
Thanks

The undelete service is unrelated to transferring characters to other accounts.
We are simply allowing players to restore a character that previously existed to the exact same state (and account) it was in when it was deleted.
As the posting points out, the character is exactly as it was when deleted. Meaning if you gave away all your items or sold them they are still going to be missing.
I boggle somewhat at this. It's neat and useful, but... but... is the demand for this service really so much higher than so many other things. I take this to mean there's a large community of deleted toons, on the order of hundreds or thousands that need resurrection and proper compensation to the coffers?
I want to know the stories behind this army of fallen deleted souls! Lost a spar? Got nerfed? Drunken delete? Vengeful spouse? Just like to type your toon name into boxes because it's really whitty and makes you laugh when you see it, "Noobosaurus, lol, enter... wait, NOOOOOO!"?
Share! Inquiring minds want to know!

Be Excellent To Each Other
Might just want to start an 'Official Discussion Thread' for this. I'm thinking there may be a lot of feedback on this given people's feelings about the account hacking issues et al.
Before asking for the service i have a question :
- my character deleted was on Gladden long long ago
- actually i have all my characters on Landroval.
I am very tempted to ask to undelete my old character, but i would like to be sur that once it will be recovered you will allow the transfer on Landroval, because i have no interest to get it back on Gladden.
I think actually all transfers to Landroval are closed. Or with this new service did you open again all the servers ?
*This is a simple question. Nothing hiden or conspiratory*
Thank you

I can understand the account hacking issue, but are that many people really accidentally or haphazardly deleting their characters? I mean it's not like accidentally hitting the wrong button. You have to actually put in some effort to delete a character.
I think it's great that you're offering a new service.
But add my bafflement to the group's with the addition of this service as opposed to a "roll back your character to before it was completely hacked and left naked" service. That seems to be a much more common complaint.
Granted, this is a step in the right direction, so I'll remain optimistic.

I think the explanation of why this doesn't affect hacked accounts is summed up, here"
"This process will return characters as they were at the time they were deleted, to the server they were deleted from, so if you “donated all your worldly goods to charity”, the items will still all be gone. "
You can get the character back, but if someone's hacked it and sold everything...the gear is still gone.
What about characters on accounts which the fraud team can determine were hacked and deleted? Can these be restored at no cost?
All in all, very good news!

Thank you for the fast answer
I understand it perfectly.
Who knows may be one day, in some years.... hope what would we do without hope :P

I would just like to point out that the character undelete is entirely different technology from a roll-back-to-pre-hack.
With the deletion of a character, all that happens is the character is flagged as 'deleted' in the game's database. The data remains unchanged. If you later what to un-delete the character all you (Turbine) have to do is change that flag in the database. Simple (and simplified, but close enough).
With a roll-back-to-pre-hack you are talking about Turbine keeping multiple copies of your character in their database which requires a LOT of overhead and some fancy coding.
So it's not a simple either-or type situation. The character undelete is a service they can offer without too much added overhead while the roll-back will require more development time and resources and overhead once in place.
Pretending that something didn't happen, doesn't make it so.
AND the money. This will help those that deleted their toons, not those who had their accounts hacked. Last time I checked hacked accounts tended to only have their gold cleaned out and the person's vault and armour vendored the gear - the player would not be deleted.

Thank you Nod, this was the first question that popped into my head when I read of the new feature. I would be terribly upset if I found out my account had been compromised; doubly-so if I was told I had to spring $20 per toon to bring them back from beyond the digital ether. I have ten characters on my main account, another six on a secondary account, and the notion of having to cough up $200-320 to restore them if some clown decided he was going to run roughshod over my 4 years of hard work would be quite unsettling indeed.
Weeeeeeee're baaaaaaack! :)
Took 55 minutes.Thank you for your purchase. We have processed your character UnDelete request. Please note if your character's name has changed, you have been provided with a free rename. You can access this rename by using the /changename command in game. If you have any further questions or concerns please reply to this message. Thanks!
OMG you guys rock. You have no idea.
Background on why this means so much to me.
Selenia, is my 8 year old daughter. She made this character 4 years ago, something for her to mess around with. She wanted a 'princess' so we made the champ a female elf with a tiara and everthing.
After she lost interest in the character I just leveled it as my own. After the character was deleted she OF COURSE started to ask about the toon.
She still thinks to this day Turbine (Or Dads game) made her ingame because she's so special lol.
So ya, thank you, so much.
Even I have a heart![]()

Glad to see this service offered now. Too bad characters that have been transferred to different servers can't be undeleted.

Vastin: "But whenever we take feedback on most game systems, such as character builds, economics, or especially anything to do with PvP, then we are forced to read very carefully between the lines of any and all player feedback, as it is all inevitably skewed by self-investment, self-interest, and a deeply subjective viewpoint that increases in direct proportion to how long or successfully a player has occupied a particular role."
As some have pointed out, restoring a deleted character is somewhat different from restoring items lost as a result of a compromised account. However, this service is only one piece of new tech our Account Support team has requested. It also happens to be the first one to be approved.
We'll have an announcement next week regarding other improvements to our Account Support tools and we think you'll be very happy with what we have to say.
