Lately I've been doing deeds and more keys than boxes have been dropping - perhaps they increased the drop rate for keys? at least they stack nicely in my bank.

In the interests of collecting hard data...
[03/23 10:16:59 AM] You have acquired a [Steel-bound Lootbox]
[03/23 10:19:19 AM] Using the Sturdy Steel Key with the Steel-bound Lootbox.
[03/23 10:19:19 AM] You have acquired [20 Morale Potions (Tier 7)]
[03/23 10:19:19 AM] You have acquired a [Large Vegetable Garden].
(Time is given as GMT)
Luckily, I had fireworks & dragon's breath ale from a recent lottery win, so I was able to celebrate in style.
**EDIT**
I forgot mention that the box dropped in the Rushgore marshes area from a turtle.

That was actually listed in the update news at some point.
More boxes drop and a lot more keys drop.
I think it's actually quite balanced, it's just that people won't take a 2nd look at a low level box but keep the key if they find one from low levels.
I think during my playtime I found about 6 boxes so far (most for lower levels) and just as many keys. So I have more keys now then boxes because I don't want to waste them on low level boxes.
Sounds like we need more waffles in this thread!
Thanks for the heads up, Sapience. Good to see this has your attention. Still many questions unanswered, but at least we know you know we know and stuff, and waffles (see what I did there?)
Well 1 thing is sure Turbine is lost with the lootboxes.
In fact it seems lootboxes have gained a will of their one [put in sound track from TwilightZone].
"Boxes inside boxes. Boxes that contain the unimaginable. Boxes that have unleash themselves from their creators to haunt the innocent and the weak. Maybe just boxes looking for a brighter future in the TwilightZone" [Deep voice off]
It makes us wonder how something that was so much a side kick in the game as gone so out of control. Turbine created a monster...
Now imagine some boss from an instance figures the way to outside the instance... not reseting by the gates as intended![]()

I wish I could but I had to hand it over to some strange knights I met on the edge of Fangorn. They wanted a shrubbery at first but when I told them all I had on me was a vegetable garden they mumbled something about 'knees' I think, took it & wandered off.
Oh well. Easy come, easy go.
really now...do you ppl still bother with lootboxes? i hope not
Sapience a simple solution?remove them from the game
There are other ways to make money by doing smth that doesnt require randomness and luck
I understand how hard is to find some bugs especially when commands are changing with unique ways to open em
But seriously i would suggest removing them..its a waste of time and money and then again...
You dont want that
We dont want that
So i suggest just remove em...both sides ..freep and creep world lootable
You just paid 49g for a crimson dye and a headband. Maybe it's a special headband: maybe you can use the crimson dye on it.
I'm sorry mate. I opened 4 boxes before U6: just pots. After U6 I opened another 6 boxes: 4 earrings with will, agility and fate on them (not really useful for a champ. Did anyone mention these items are bound on acquire?) and yet more pots.
I have 2 boxes in the bank waiting. Did anyone even get a worn symbol after this last update?

There are no other systems in LotRO that I'm aware of that pre-generate loot like that. I don't understand why they would generate the loot table upon creation. Why carry that extra data around? As far as I've seen, standard enemy loot drops, landscape containers like backpacks, and LI legacies all are determined at the point of use, like when the enemy is looted (although maybe quest drops are set at time of kill?) or the backpack is opened.
This whole thing seems exceptionally more complicated than it should be, and why? We've been rolling on loot tables since P&P AD&D in the late 70's. Why try to re-invent the wheel?

Here's a quick fix. Remove all the trash loot and replace it with a total chance to summon a war troll with 250k morale.
Increase the chance for good loot by 5%.
Please make Troll have an infinite aggro range, never to reset or disappear until defeated.

Not sure if low level pots(and no other items) from a 70-75 box counts as WAI or not, but I've gotten two of those AFTER the update. I did not hold onto older boxes... both of them dropped from 75 mobs in the new land.
I hope everyone is submitting bug reports. Please remember that while we're happy to try to offer up insights here, bug reports are the only method we have of tracking the actual bugs and reports. As you can see this thread is filled with comments, commentary, and asides that don't help and slow down the process of rooting out the issue. So please, if you're seeing something you feel is a bug in your box, follow the proper bug reporting procedure.
I opened my box, got one Token of Freedom....
That's it. I bugged it. At least I didn't pay anything for it.

PLUS, posting how turbine is stealing money from us is way too public, while bug reports are nice, clean and ignorable. Disable the system, or address your costumers in a major way in order to educate them about the 100 TP gated vendor trash boxes. You ARE stealing from us and I'm personally EXTREMELY fed up with this.

While I agree that there should be action (or at least better communication to the players) if there is a big issue with the boxes and people are paying real money to open them, note that Sapience never said not to post here. Just that a bug report is the way to get the information to the correct people.
As long as the thread stays civil, so far I don't see any indication they are trying to keep it quiet.
Disabling the lootbox system altogether at this point would be an honorable choice.
Otherwise, anyone uninformed or dumb enough to still open lootboxes at this point in the broken state they're in...is just getting ripped off by contents that'd barely be worth the joke 'gift' boxes of some festival. But at least if you paid attention to how those boxes were named, you got that the 'gift' was intended to be a gag gift.
Seriously, disable the system WHILE you're working on understanding the issues and/or a complete overhaul type fix to the lootbox system. I know, I for one, won't be bugging a thing, as there's nothing to bug when you're not opening any more boxes in the state they're currently in.
However, if Turbine would like to replace my time, in-game money and turbine points wasted on boxes and keys that I still have left, then sure...I'll be a guinea pig, opening and bug reporting. Somehow, that seems unlikely to happen though, doesn't it? In the meantime, those boxes and keys will just sit there gathering dust.
Nobody likes to be conned, ripped off or made a fool of. And in the current state of the lootbox system, who isn't feeling these things, especially those of us fool enough to have kept trying for longer than evidence suggested one should?
Joe "Jwbarry" Barry: "... because there was a thread in the book to hang ourselves from..."
"We will not sell end-game gear. "
Orion: "Something needs to go here"
They never have been very forthcoming on the possibilities, have they?
The only two things according to what I've seen Sapience say that shouldn't be in them "for sure" are allegedly dyes (although that does not include house paints...although why those are lootbox-worthy are a mystery to me) and looting lootboxes within a lootbox.
This!!!
If boxes are able to be openned there is no real bug unless we get absolutely nothing from openning it.
Moreover the way they are giving always the same things just get someone on your testing machine with the current game version (yes... I am not talking about the versions u have stored somewhere... get a copy of the live game) and try it. And dont change the drop rate just grind till you get the boxes that way you can test the drop rate the hard mode like every player and check if it is WAI.
