NPC Leofrun in Thornhope does not talk to me. Is there a way around it?

    Hi,

I am stuck in Thornhope on the quest Dreams of Fire and Giants.
The NPC Leofrun whom I am supposed to find and get a new quest from does not react to me at all.

So now I am stuck and I was wondering if there is a way around it or to make the NPC talk to me?

I hope I am not stuck on the quest chains and will have to only kill monsters for my remaining four levels.

I couldn't get him to talk to me either, but that doesn't get you stuck on the quest. You just have to "search" for survivors - sometimes it appears you get credit for "searching" in areas of the town where there aren't even any. Follow the rings on your map.

No rings anywhere, I am afraid, and it feels like I have run all over the place in that village (and close to it).

There are only 8 NPC's hiding in the destroyed town: you can save 7 and receive further quests while finding the hiding boy and looking at two empty spots will complete the saving villagers quest.

Ran around like a damsel myself trying to find the right spots for the quest to finish ... leaving this boy stranded within the ruins of his former home didn't really feel very heroic to me.

That child is apparently not a part of that quest, the lore book says he gives a quest for elves only (strange). There are some hard to find spots you just have to travel near to get quest credit for (no corpses or npcs visible). I found the last one by using the map and getting close to the ring that showed. I still have to jockey around a bit to find the exact position.

I don't know what his current status is supposed to be, but I know that in Beta he at one point did give a quest like the other survivors, but then later he quit giving it. When I went thru there on live he didn't give me anything either, but it counted as "finding" him. I suspect that the quest he was supposed to give had bugged out and subsequently been deactivated, and may or may not be repaired, or might have been repurposed (the elf only comment is interesting). But he doesn't stop progression, so if he is "broken," it won't hurt you for now to leave him stuck. I plan to check back after every update/patch and see if he ever becomes "savable" tho. Leaving a kid in that place just feels so WRONG, I hope one day we can save him again!

    Exclamation

I can confirm that Leofrun talks (and gives quests) for ELVES ONLY. I finally got that info squeezed out of GM a couple of days ago, after that usual "working as intended" comments. So if you are not an elf, he does not talk to you.

Whoa that's &&&&&&&&. I just spent half an hour running around looking for him, because I remembered I rescued a child and got a quest to find his doll on my other char. Stupid!!! This cannot be WAI.

I had trouble getting the 10th one. Ring on map outside the fence. Moved all over the place, inside and out. Finally I ran the fence and got it, just as I was about to hit the entrance north of the ring. Only took an hour!

The 10th seems to be hidden in the tower so run under it will trigger him.

    Evles only ... great.
Well, I suspected something like that, since when we counted, me and my girlfriend had the same number of NPCs at the tree, but Leofrun was not there.
I guess I had another she didn't have.

Leofrun is a girl, not a boy. So, elves only, eh? That explains why my captain cannot get her to talk.

    Yes, she's a little girl.

And yes, she only talks to elves. My elf lore master did the quest the other day with a friend who's a captain. The elf got the quest, her human friend didn't.

It's odd, but since both the interactions with her are only a part of the quests to find survivors and to find their lost possessions, it's not as though elves are getting a whole quest that other races can't get.

Not true; in fact, elves get TWO quests because of this that other races do not get. The first one is "A Frightened Child", that you get when you find her in Thornhope, and turn in when you talk to her outside of town. Then there is follow-up quest "Little Comfort" where you go back to find her doll. Those two quests do not give reputation though, only 3 + 3 silver tokens and normal XP + IXP.

Still, it's a bit odd that one race gets two extra quests, at least back in Enedwaith where we also got racial quests, each race got their own quests.

NPC Leofrun in Entwash Vale still broken and will not respond.

NPC Leofrun is still not offering a quest, looks like either it is truly bugged, or it has been disabled. Too bad, but it still counted as "finding a survivor" so i am able to move on. I just hate not being able to "complete" if that is what this is.

Just checking... Is your character an elf?

Whoever said this was WAI was wrong. If she (yes, it's a she) only speaks to Elves, it's a bug. (I can say that emphatically, because that's my quest.) Fortunately, she only blocks one optional side quest, so it's not huge, but it still needs to be fixed.

Iam pretty sure she talked to my human champion, so it has nothing to do with ignoring non-elves.

In which case, it may have something to do with the direction the players are coming in from...if you come in from behind her, you might miss the hotspot that triggers her quest.

Don't know if this helps or not....

My Elf Minnie got the quests
    My Hobbit Burg did not

I ran the same circut with both through the area, so i do not think it is direction related. But the exact position I was at could have been a bit different. You should get a lacky (hmm quess it's the wrong time of year for the summer intern, darn) to try it out different ways and see whats up.

I did not get the quest on my man LM (the only character I brought to Rohan). I did run circles around her trying to get her to talk to me...

Both times I've done this quest my character was an elf accompanied by a human. Both times we took the path up and across by the Mead Hall then came down at the north end of that path and approached Leofrun from the north. Both times, the elf got the quest and the human didn't. I don't remember which way she was facing, so not sure which direction is "behind her."

That seemed like the logical route to follow, and I believe it's also prompted by Goblns just up the path who attack you.

I have done this quest three times. My two elves get the quest, my human did not. My friend playing with me on his 3 hobbits did not get the quest.
I love my computer because my friends live in it!
