    I can haz patchnotes?

Downtime scheduled in advance and still we wait until the middle of the maintenance period to even know what issues the hotfix is supposed to address. It'd be nice to know in a little more in advance. And its just another example of us not really being told what in the heck is going on. To be honest, it looks sloppy. Talk to us Turbine!

I always wondered why they don't post what the hotfix addresses in advance. Not like this one was an emergency hotfix with no time for a post.

    Maybe we're all getting Unicorns!!!

In all seriousness though, The only thing I've seen is that it should help fix issues folks are having completing Volume 1, Book 10, Chapter 5 in the epic book. So they at least have an idea what they're working on But we sure don't!

They've stated multiple times that they wait in order to make the patch notes as accurate as possible. Last minute things tend to always get added to the updates, I guess.

Additionally, since hotfixes commonly fix exploits, the game devs don't exactly want to say "Hey, we're fixing this mistake, so make sure you take advantage of it before the game goes down."

That's a bit of a cop out in my opinion. I'd much rather Turbine come out and say hey, we're planning to fix X, Y, and Z this Wednesday during maintenance. And then have them turn around and reiterate that Sorry, complications arose and we were unable to address issue Y. But please enjoy X and Z.

As far as exploits go, I don't think anyone expects them to point fingers at those. But there is a fairly long and embarrassing list of known issues with update 10 that they may or may not be hoping to address with this hotfix. And it would look GOOD for them to come out and say which, if any, of those issues they're hoping to resolve with this maintenance.

Fine but the games been down for an hour now. Still no notes. They should simply say that notes will be available "sometime" during the downtime. Then no one would need to post here at all.

There was an exploit that I don't think anyone knew about - T1 Erebor raids were dropping 1st ages. BUT FEAR NOT IT IS GETTING FIXED!

Tier 1 of the Flight to Lonely Mountain, Fires of Smaug and Battle for Erebor instances will now give 2nd age symbols, in place of 1st age symbols. Tier 2 (and the Challenges of these spaces) will continue to give the 1st age symbol.

Hope you farmed you farmed your backsides off.

That's what they say. They don't say "at the beginning" or "as the game goes down" or anything, they just say during the downtime.

    And yeah, notes are out.

And surprise surprise! They included something in the notes that would have caused people to farm the &&&& out of instances even harder if they had known about it beforehand.

This question comes up often (in fact, every single down time), and often with the same incorrect information. Notes are up as of 8am. 1 hour into the hot fix, not the middle.

Considering this his has been policy for 5+ years (and again this question is answered literally every time we do a patch), it should be fairly common knowlege by now.

Patch notes are never posted prior to the downtime (with the rare exception of expansion pack relesae notes when appropriate). Simply because we often fix exploits and posting them ahead of taking the servers down simply encourages more exploiting.
