    "My Characters" Issue(s)

None of my characters are displayed
If the lottery page shows no characters, you may need to switch to a different subscription. At the top of the page, look to the right of the "Logged in as "; if you see a drop-down arrow there, mouse over it and select the other subscription listed. This will switch you to that subscription and should have your characters listed and allow them to enter any running lotteries they are eligible for.

I have been a VIP player on Brandywine for 3 months now. I only have this one account with a subscription (I use the exact same username/password to log in to the website here as I do in-game). I have never been able to view any of my 6 of 7 characters from the server on the website here (Main toon is 85). I was hoping the new revamp of the site would fix this, but apparently it didn't. I have no "drop-down arrow" next to "Logged in as" in the top right of the page, so what do I need to do in order to have my character information(s) populated to the website? I would really like to participate in Lotteries when they become available.

You will notice the new lottery page now tells you explicitly whether there are lotteries running or not. NOT whether or not you have character eligible. So when it says "No active lotteries" it's because there are no active lotteries.

When we do start lotteries again, maybe tomorrow, you will notice you will be able to see any lottery, whether you have eligible characters or not. You simply won't be able to enter lotteries you aren't eligible for. Instead of a list of eligible characters it will show the lottery and the comment "no eligible characters" next to it.

No more guessing if there are or aren't active lotteries. The message is extremely literal now. No lotteries, means no lotteries.

    Thanks for the reply.
So disregarding the whole Lottery thing, is there a way for me to view my active in-game characters somewhere on the website?

No. The my.lotro.com functionality has been discontinued.

    My Characters

I must say, I regularly used that feature - being able to click on my characters and view them all at the click of a mouse button. I'm not enjoying this new forum setup - so now I have to view my characters actually in game?? Do they not realise how annoying that is when you have characters on more than one server???? ~shakes my head~ Epic FAIL.

Well, today the apps I've downloaded still show my toons (and I was able to add more to LOTRO Herald, for example). Not sure if the back end taps that the apps (I'm using iPad) use are still there, or if the forum revamp means that LOTRO Herald just has its last frozen update available, with no further updates coming (I presume they synced daily or so).

It took quite a bit of wrangling, but the community team managed to convince the powers that be to keep the feed for LOTROHerald live. It may not be the most up to date info all the time, but it is still functional.

I guess my question is, are you just leaving up the rest of the character API feeds but turning off some of the data exports? (Notably the leaderboard exports).

There's a lot that we could still do with that data.

Because I fought for what I could get. It won't be improved upon, new items won't be added, and it will eventually be turned off. For now, it's what I could save.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you !

I really appreciate your team's effort to save this small part of the LOTRO experience.

Question for clarification, do you mean that the equipment item information query will not receive any updates ? If thats the case I can still work with that hurdle, it just means it's time to get creative to fill in the gaps.

Yes, that's correct. And if we add a new stat or something similar it won't get updated in the feed. I do know that some enterprising DDO players managed to play 'fill in the blanks' with some of the data still available from their feed.

As for leader boards, I believe the dark appendage leader boards should still work if they were taking their data from our feed. Again, not sure how complete the feed is and I'm pretty sure parts of it will fail to be updated as we move forward, but I think things like renown/infamy gains should be mostly intact for them. At least I think so.

Thanks, Sapience! This is super-helpful when you want one crafting toon to make updated armor, etc. for several other toons in a monster crafting session. Logging back and forth and taking notes is no fun.

The AltViewer plugin would fix that if only the lazy developer would stop playing with maps and get back to what's really... ooh, look, a shiny!

(the Equipped Items panel should be ported from the old AltInventory sometime "Soon" now that TerrainMap is more or less fully functional)

EDIT: A bit of testing exposed a client crash bug in the GetEquipment() API call. Since equipped items can not be accessed without making the client unstable the panel won't be ported to AltViewer until the bug gets fixed - probably months if ever

@Sapience: Is it possible to get the documentation for http://data.lotro.com/ again? The link on the site isn't supported.

    Question

So exactly what is still available from the old forum modules/features, and, how can we get to it to use them again (if it is even possible anymore)?

I've been looking through here (the new forums) for a while now and can't find any information about how to get any of it to work with again.

I saw that their was mention of "data.lotro.com" in this thread but,
1: the "Documentation" link on the resulting page goes to a page that doesn't exist anymore, and,
2: Being a non-dev makes it look like I'd have to take a class or two on programing to make use of what is there even if the "Documentation" page had... well whatever it had to offer.

I understand that most people may not have used many of those features but, I did regularly for myself and my kinnies and now... well frankly I'm a lot lost as to where to go from here to continue helping them as well as I used to be able to with those old forum features.

Like, are their any external and/or support features of this forum that serve to provide any of those features still?

    Please help!

The link was broken long ago. Documentation was in the Lorebook instead.

All the "documentation" is at the data.lotro.com site.

The lorebook-entry had just a bit text around it. See here.

Is their a version of that page that is in English?, and,

How do I make use of it to have access to any and/or all of the old forum features?

I don't understand. This page *is* in english.

There is no access to the old features. My link just goes to the google cache of the old lorebook page. (as long as it's there. Because the lorebook no longer exists, these pages will be removed from google cache eventually)

You're talking about the head of the page, wich comes from google. Ignore it or change the "hl=de" to "hl=en" near the end of the link address.

The content of the page is english...

    Thank you very much Amrundir.

So how can/does this help to provide me any of the old forum features?

If you are a programmer, you can write your own app or webpage.
There is an app called LOTROHerald for iPhone, and one for Android.

I started programming a website a while ago when mylotro was broken for european characters (but their data was already in da.ta.lotro.com). I stopped, when mylotro was fixed and because our kinship data (like other old kinships on the Ex-EU servers) is not available.

So send me some stacks of time and I will start thinking of making something like "myLotro Charactersheet".

I'm just looking for that content in a normal browser format on my home/laptop computer. Would be nice if those features were available where the new account page is (Ex: "https://www.lotro.com/en/account"). Seems like a perfect place for our character sheets, stats, game contacts, etc. pages to be displayed?

Just saying, its kind of a real big waste of a page, and time to navigate through, just to have 4 links in a little box shown on that page if that's all that's going to go there.

Also -even if its not something we can have hosted/displayed on the lotro website, it would be nice to have links to the module interfaces to use/have hosted elsewhere online so we can still use them. Maybe the devs from lotro can work with the guys n gals over at lotro-wiki (or some other fan-based lotro dedicated website) to help them provide those modules. Would be doubly cool for the devs to also transfer the Lorebook data over to lotro-wiki (instead of just junking it completely) so they can still provide those player support features for lotro's players with that info still included as we/they used to.

I'm one of the editors for lotro-wiki and I can tell you that the loss of the Lorebook has really hurt a lot of the work we'd done up until the Lorebook interfacing capabilities were lost.
