Lightbulb Avatar Updates for Update 13

There have been some adjustments made to Character Avatars for Update 13. These are slight and can be best seen by comparing a current live character to a copied version of that character here on Bullroarer. Different Race and Gender combinations will reveal different changes in character shaping and movement. We are very interested in your feedback on these adjustments and any bugs you may notice in relation to these changes.

    Thanks!

By Avatar, you mean the whole character, or just the little picture in the health bars?

Bleh. I was going to update Bullroarer to check these out, but I can't find any my old copies of the client. Guess I'll leave this for someone else to look at. Edit: Oh wait! I think I found a copy on an old hard drive!

Couldn't find / see any difference between live and BR versions. Except the running animation of my dwarf. Now he's runs like a two legged potato!

So, this so called update means we can see some major upgrading of our avatars? More modern faces and bodies, better combat animations? Please say yes.

Thank you so much for (at least partially) addressing the absolutely *terrible* male Elf pose. On live they sort of bend outwards for no reason, and it really looks unhealthy.

There's still an element of that here, but the improvement is readily noticeable to me now that it's pointed out.

Didn't notice much a difference on my Human Male, though my Human Female appears to be standing up a bit straighter. My male Elf is also no longer doing that chest way out pose and looks much better as a result.

I can't really tell much difference in any model changes though.

One issue I've noticed on my Human female is that the running animation after jumping is a bit stuttery, feet moving really fast for a half second before adjusting to the right speed.

I agree. This is definitely a subtle, but fantastic improvement.

I'd love to get an updated face : )

I haven't noticed a single model change. Are they that subtle or are they perhaps DX10/DX11 only?

I'm running DX11, so I don't think that will be it. It could be that I'm just not hitting the right race/gender combos, or even the right customization options. The only change that's super obvious is the elf stance. I'm guessing this could be more about their animations than their models.

I would really like to see the change to male elves because I'm one of those people who really like the pose they have on live. Anyone mind making a little video?

Thanks xRaina for the opportunity to provide some initial feedback. I personally feel like the legs on the Bullroarer Dwarf avatar are too skinny. Much prefer the current Live avatar. The new "skinny" legs feel very disproportionate to the rest of the body. My vote would be to keep the current live Dwarf avatar or shoot for a compromise somewhere in between with the next build.

My female elves still run as though they're about to trip--little stutters in their run animation every few steps.

Don't know if it's anything to do with the changes xRaina is talking about but I made a human male champion this afternoon and noticed him rather often fighting without his weapons. He hadn't been disarmed--there was no notification about not having the right weapon. He just didn't take out his two weapons to hit things. He's dual wielding an axe and sword from the gear given out in the Tavern. As far as I could tell, he was still doing the regular damage as though he had the weapons out, just without the animation showing the weapons in his hands.

There was a bug that could cause this, which was fixed in U12.3. Maybe it accidentally got re-introduced?

I copied a couple dwarves over to Bullroarer. On the dwarves that were wearing shirt/pants combo, I saw little to no difference. The dwarves that were wearing onepiece outfits (i.e. robes) looked...well, the best I could come up with was they looked like they swallowed a hobbit whole. The rear end stuck out even more too. I'll get screenies here soon to illustrate my point.

Other than that, the differences I have seen have been favorable. My man-race ladies seem to look a little tidier. Can anything be done about the female elf's hip problem?

Could someone perhaps take screenshot of a male elf seen from the side and the front and compare to the elves on live? Please?

Ahh, answered the question. Was wondering if the female elves still had broken hips.

Yeah, the Bullroarer dwarf on the right looks a bit lacking from the gluteus maximus on down, like he needs to wear suspenders to keep the cuisses from sliding off like pants on prom night. The most un-hip dwarf I've ever seen, if you catch my drift.

...but seriously... Definitely too skinny. Missing the muscular chunkiness of a dwarf. Missing the "looks thick, like a granite boulder that's about to crush you" appearance. Not stocky. Not quite right.

As promised, here are the pictures of one of my dwarves. Left screen is Bullroarer, right screen is live. If I had wanted Bombur, I would have made Bombur.

I thought when I'd logged on the Bullroarer that I'd distorted my screen - turns out that it was because of this update. My man guardian looks ridiculous skinny; updates need to be made to the faces, rather than to the body, as the changes make men look more cartoonish.

That dwarf's rear end looks rather unnatural...

Apparently the new Dwarf model is based on Bombur.

It would be awesome if we had the option to adjust our body size using the barber. The new avatar adjustments would be more fun this way since we would be able to tune them on our existing characters.
