    About combat skills

I've been playing for a few days but am still scratching my head about this one.
How does a free user go about getting more combat skills? Do I have to wait until I have 95 points to select a class trait tree or are there other ways to get more combat skills?

So far I only have those 4 beginners skills and that's not enough for me.

As soon as you get to level 6 (I believe, it may be lv7 as well), you can choose your specialization in your class trait trees. Doing this will automatically give you some extra skills to use, which may or may not be offensive skills, depending on the class and specialization you choose. Apart from that, you will get one point to spend in the trees for every odd level (so one point at level 7, one more at level 9, and so on), as well as points for some specific things you can do in the game (at early level, these will mostly come from deeds, you can find the class deeds by pressing shift+L, clicking the class/race/epic tab at the top of the panel, and then the first 'button' from the left at the bottom of the panel).

Apart from those general notions, if you can specify which class/what level you are, then people will without a doubt be able to help you further to check if you are missing something!

    You were correct.

The first time you can access the trait panel, and thus chose a spec, is lvl 6. You'll earn your first point to invest at lvl 7.

You say you have "been playing for a few days"... What lvl are you? Because you earn skills the same way everyone else does.

    a) You will automatically be granted new general skills every few levels. While you don't need to visit a Class Trainer to acquire new skills, you can check the show all box at the top of the training panel, such that you can see all the general skills you will learn and at what levels you'll learn them at.

    b) Once you have chosen a class spec, you generally get one or two skills. Though, some specs (such as the Blue branch of the Lore-master) only give passives.

    c) As you invest Class trait points, you'll either earn new skills or modify existing ones.

    d) *Every 5 points you invest in your chosen spec, you'll reach a tier in that branch. Some tiers grant abilities.
    * This is the only time that getting abilities is affected by your account status.
These tiers are automatically unlocked for VIP. F2P and Premium have to pay 95 TP per tier.
Do I have to wait until I have 95 points to select a class trait tree or are there other ways to get more combat skills?
There is only a total of 65 Class trait points.

    • 45 - You get a point every odd level for lvl 7 to lvl 95.
    • 8 - You get a point from completing the 8 Class meta-deeds. Each meta-deed consists of 3 of the 22 deeds that are advanced by using certain skills so many times per day or your class your lvl 15 and 30 class quests.
    • 7 - You get a point for each of the old Legendary traits.
      • 3 - You get a point from finding all the pages for each of the three Books you can purchase from your class trainer at lvl 39.
      • 1 - You get a point from your lvl 45 class quest.
      • 1 - You get a point from your lvl 58 class quest.
      • 1 - You get a point from reading the Book that's purchased from the Moria Guards, once your reach Kinship reputation.
      • 1 - You get a point from completing Epic quests Volume 2, Books 1 - 6.
    • 5 - You get a point from completing the quest lines in each of the five areas of the Helm's Deep expansion.

You say you're lvl 11... What class are you?

Press J to open your Trait panel. This will allow you to choose a Class specialization. Then, invest the points you have (it should be 3).
Press K to open your Skill panel. When you get new skills they should be automatically added to your toolbars. However, if you accidentally deleted a skill from your toolbar, it can be retrieved by dragging and dropping from here.

The first time You can open and use trait panel is at level 5 or 6, when you can choose your Specialization, so it can be done in the intro instance already. It imediately gives you some listed goodies. At level 7 and every 2 levels afterwards you earn 1 point to put in the trait tree, so you can strenghten some more aspects of your character.

Thank you, Turbine, for listening and giving us an opt-out of FE! Good work!
