It's been almost two weeks and they haven't even done sever maintenance in awhile. The last one was on the 28th last month. In fact, I haven't seen any blue names on the fourms recently. Kinda unsettling.

At least part of the time, this week (2/6 to current) New England -- especially the Cape area (i.e. just south of Boston) has been under a Blizzard watch from the National Weather Service.
I don't get Boston or Providence news so I don't know how bad things were. All of the coverage has been about New Hampshire -- which is west of the Watch area.

I have the flu. It has ravaged my whole family. I'm guessing it's hit the Turbine staff too. It's just a guess, but it would explain why we haven't seen a lot from them publicly, lately.
Just FYI.
I live about 20 miles from the Turbine offices. We had a winter storm advisory for Mon Feb 8 with up to a foot of snow predicted and potentially a blizzard. People were urged to stay home, schools were closed, many offices closed or worked at home. Ended up only getting 5-6 inches of light fluffy stuff by the time it died down around 8 PM. Everyone should have been back at work today since the roads were fine.
Snowstorms can be very unpredictable around these parts. If the storm path tracks 20 miles to one side of the prediction we can get hammered while 20 miles to the other side means we remove the snow with a broom.

A weed is an invasive plant that you do not like. Can't possibly be a weed if you like it.
My front "lawn" is covered with dandelions. Each spring there will be one week when the front is a solid sheet of bright yellow backed by the pink of the azaleas. The next week is a sheet of misty white as the azalea flowers die off. Then the lawn stays green all summer, no matter how much sun beats down upon it. No watering needed.

Turbine shuts down the servers to try to fix lag, people complain about downtime. Turbine doesn't shut down the servers, people complain they're not doing anything.
I live in Minnesota (the state that is next to Wisconsin on the left), and like us, Wisconsin has the plows and resources to handle big snowstorms, while the east coast unfortunately does not. When we get a foot of snow, our many plows are able to clear it up quickly and our pretreated roads help keep it less icy. Sure it can get a little wild, but we're toughGenerally speaking, schools close when wind chills are around -40 F.
I'm not really complaining. I just found it kinda weird about lack of downtime. Since Turbine is always on top of it when it is the case. I'm not one to complain. Just a little curious and worried.
Some changes and adjustments that we make to the server do not require a downtime. We are continuing to monitor and adjust things when needed, but as of right now none of the changes we have made recently required us bringing down the game worlds.
Ah, Thanks Frelorn!
Lotro has been running well for me. Even in Minas Tirith. So I don't really think the severs needs maintenance. But it is sad to see that there are those who can't even play the game because of lag, crashes, etc. Hopefully Turbine will find a solution to this. Because I know how annoying it can be.
On a server performance note, I wondered if Turbine was aware of the greatly reduced performance, resulting in skill lag, in instances during peak hours for EU servers? Our kin tends to raid/do fellowship instances at 8/8.30GMT (on Evernight) in the evening, and on multiple occasions, we've been prevented from completing various instances due to skill lag of up to four seconds for all players in the group.
This doesn't affect player movement at all, just skills, and as it seems to happen across the raid, at what I assume are peak playing times for EU servers, I wondered what solution Turbine had for ensuring there's enough power for us all to play without a hitch? Or, if there's no solution as yet, it would be great to hear that Turbine are aware of the problem.
Welcome back Frelorn
I guess I'm in the lucky minority experiencing minimal CTDs (except whenever entering and exiting Minas Tirith in whatever way since the first hotfix to U17) but the lag (both FPS spikes down to as low as 3 and skills not firing) has rendered the Moors unplayable and I've taken a break from freepside playing odd creeps in dead hours.
More communication is needed.
Regards
yep. FIESTA! [i am kidding]
same. i haven't had many CTD's, but when they do occur, it's usually during a loading screen when moving out of a building or using swift travel. i've had a couple during combat, where i was fortunate not to have died when i relogged].
i do agree that more communication is necessary. it does lessen the amount of these types of threads and gives most folks some reassurances that things are being worked on.![]()

Glad to see you back and feeling better, but now you are here perhaps you could do something about the increasingly unreadable forums?
The dev tracker is mostly empty except for MoL and his affection for Bingo, posts are (rightly) being locked with no explanation, and we never seem to get any updates on well anything.
Logging in every morning to wade through 12 pages of spam is making them a just a bit pointless.
I can't believe that there is no one else in the office capable of managing these forums?
If this continues you might as well just get rid of them altogether and just stick to Facebook and Twitter which at least someone from Turbine visits regularly.
