Dwarf Allegiance Question for MoL (SPOILERS)

    Hello again,

    First of all, SPOILERS:

MoL, I'm so impressed regarding the Dwarf and Gondorian allegiances- but the Dwarf one especially had my heart-racing. Fantastic! Magnificent. Moria really had me going- what would happen? What was lurking in the depths this time now other than the late-Volume-II-hints of the inevitability of Gwathnor coming back again? And then, of course, how the Iron Garrison got ousted from Moria. So exciting!

The only faces we saw, however, were Bosi and Brogur (RIP Brogur!). The rest were generic Dwarves. Wafi and all the rest of the named Dwarves from the end-of-Volume-II-epilogue laying Zigilburk to rest were missing. Are they all presumed dead? Yet it is not so much Wafi and the others with whom I'm concerned- although I certainly have fond memories of delivering lunches and picks (I'd be inclined to presume them all dead based on the state of things- yikes!).

What happened to Bori and Broin? We endured quite a long ordeal concerning them- from discovering Broin with Zigilburk and fighting-off the Watcher for the second time, to the whole effort of the Hidden Guard and the Malledhrim to rescue Bori from Gorothul and the Nazgul in Dol Guldor. So it felt striking to me... that... well- they had conspicuously vanished! Its strange that, if they were dead, that Bosi wouldn't have referred to their deaths (at least back in Erebor in the aftermath of the escape)- its his son and nephew after all... and most of Volume II Books 4-9, of course, had concerned them closely. Its also doubly-strange that, if they yet live, that they were not present among the "evacuees" in our rescue mission in the First Hall. We know from the VII Epilogues that they had most certainly returned to Moria- Bori was back in the Chamber of Leadership in the 21st Hall, and Broin was back on his cot in the Peaceful Path.

So... ? You've got me- the writing's fantastic. Please, do tell us if you can... are all of the Iron Garrison save Bosi and his few survivors... dead? Are... Bori and Broin... dead? Has "The Glorious Tale of Broin the Mighty," alas, reached its ending? Or... shall we... "stay tuned?" ("Stay tuned" will prevent spoilers if there are future plans concerning them XD) ?

Thank you once again for your time- and thank you and all the Team so much again for making this game so compelling and fun to play- especially story-wise I can't thank you all enough

Glad you liked it! This is one of those cases where you've properly guessed that the answer is Stay Tuned.

More SPOILERS for the Durin's Folk Allegiance storyline below:

The longer answer is that the list of survivors after the Flight isn't as tiny as it seems from the folk you see afterward, but it's still not very long. I'll be adding more in future updates, just to make it a little more robust. One of the dwarves you see there was actually added in a panic right before the deadline, when I realized that if I left him out folk would assume he was among the dead. I thought Bori and Broin might have been given the benefit of the doubt, but Spalvi might not have had that assurance.

Thank goodness for that - I feared that was all that remained of the Iron Garrison! Hopefully we'll be able to head back into Moria as the dwarf allegiance storyline continues (I've completed the men, dwarves and elves and they all seem to have scope for expanding the allegiance system). I'm curious to find out what the cause of the exodus from Moria was, who survived and how the dwarves are going to go about reclaiming it. With that and the creation of Gimli's colony in the Glittering Caves, the Dwarf allegiance doesn't seem to lack opportunities to be developed further - and I hope allegiances in general is something which you'll continue to include in future content updates.

On a separate note, to be expanded elsewhere, other things that could be added are:

Gondor - Grey Company returning to Eriador, reasserting control for Elessar
Dwarves - Moria and Glittering Caves
Elves - Dol Guldur, preparing for departure (visiting old sites of elves)
Hobbits - not completed yet, but chasing up Saruman's cronies would be part of it, maybe following up on the bits of Frodo and Sam's adventure that we missed (eg Emyn Muil?)
Rohan - add a new one in! Who runs Rohan with the death of so many reeves and thanes?
    - Taravan, R12 Captain - Tirian, Tanking Guardian - Telperon, Completionist LM -
    - Afranius, R9 WL - Tolobain, R7 Weaver - Vargan, R6 Stalker -

Ex-Leader of Lost Realm of Imladris - Evernight - Co-Founder of Beauty and the Beasts

Everyone should boycott the dorf "allegiance" cuz dorfs are fat and stinky. And they're NOT people.

    SPOILERS:

Dorfs are abominations created in an act of sacrilege, intended to steal Middle-earth from its rightful inhabitants (the children of Illuvatar, a.k.a. us).

Their creator, Aule, was so disgusted by what he wrought that his first act after seeing the fat, stinky dorfs was to try to wipe them out of existence.

But, alas, they were allowed to live (undoubtedly as a warning to the other Valar not to screw up like Aule did).

Aule had two powerful Maia underlings working for him at the time. His closest Maiar buddy was ... Sauron (called Mairon at the time). And after Sauron showed his true colors and went to work for Morgoth, Aule's new favorite was ... Saruman (known as Curumo at the time). Was it merely a coincidence that the two most infamous Maiar of all time just HAPPENED to be working for the guy who created a race even more foul and corrupt than orcs? I don't THINK so...

(Orcs are descended from children of Illuvatar, and deserve pity. Dorfs are not, and deserve none.)

And on top of all that, they were mean to Bilbo. Bilbo!

./unsigned ; them Elves must've turned-tail and run out of Moria as soon as Bori got rescued from DG- all a lovely, pleasant show of good face to we wandering strangers. We left the Elves and Dwarves in friendship. They were going to help the Dwarves maintain control of Moria. We left for Eriador, Dunland, we came back, didn't hear a peep from our Elvish kindred about Moria, got sent down to GR and then to Rohan... Ring gets destroyed... and we come back to find... No Elves Defending Moria. Those stiff-necked.... gah! (and most of my alts are Elves, so I can say this ) Galadriel didn't even have the decency to sick the power of her Ring on Gwathnor and any remnants of the Nameless before the Ring was destroyed! Hehehehehehehehehehehe I guess Gimli was the -sole- exception to their norm concerning Dwarves!

LOL- I'm joking of course- all in good fun

Of course they couldn't handle keeping Moria on their own- with enemies from the Ancient World and all still causing trouble Dwarves are good with axes- not with undoing ancient evils drawn-forth by fell powers (and I'm wondering if its actually -we players- fault: if there was a relic of Gorothul still hiding someplace that the Epic didn't tell us about so we missed it ). Hehehehe

I forgot about those Elves! Are they dead too?! Did they indeed leave after Bori was rescued from DG in order to fight that battle with their fellow Elves? I'm curious to see if ALL of Moria was affected by this and that almost everyone in the entire Mines of Moria is dead. If the Elves are missing but presumed dead, I could see some Elvish involvement in further Allegiance storylines.

I would love a return to Moria to try and sneak around and investigate what happened. Just me, but I would LOVE for it to be dark like Moria in days of old

Moria Revisited would be an interesting PVE expansion. Start from the east side, and work our way in, gradually taking back territory.

Heck, even make a PvMP version of it. Use the PvE map from the above. Start with the entry area (and perhaps have the next be open, too). The Dwarven Allegiance fights to take over the first area's control points. Once all control points are taken, the Creeps have a short period of time (couple of days to a week) to retake. If they don't, then the first area .permanently becomes a non-PvMP area, and the second area becomes the focal point of the conflict (with a third area beyond that opening up).

The goal is for the Dwarven Alliance to retake all the areas.

    SPOILERS:

The story that dorfs tell about "Durin's Bane" is all a huge lie.

The truth is that the sneaky, greedy dorfs went LOOKING for the Balrog, and tried to make a deal with it to conquer and enslave Middle Earth for them.

But the Balrog laffed at them and (to his credit) decided to kick their fat dorf butts instead.

I'm doing Moria with an alt and it makes me quite sad to know that it will result in a massacre when the Ring is destroyed (from what the allegiance storyline seems to imply). I would hope that lots of it still remains intact and not almost all of the dwarves and elves there died We did so much work to make it a better place too! I want more explanation as to what exactly caused what happened, and I hope we learn more in the future! #RIP

That story is propaganda to keep us out of Moria and away from the Mithril. I know this because I personally killed every creature down there at least three times over.
It is logical, in view of the times in which we live. But to be logical is not to be right, and nothing on God's earth could ever make it right!
