PAX East attendance check?

I'm curious how many people would be interested in an informal hangout on the Friday of PAX East, April 6th, after the Exhibit Hall closes. Looking to get an approximate head count.

That's a bummer! I've always wanted to go to a convention like that, but just can't seem to muster up the courage to actually go. Too much of a homebody who hates traveling.

You could keep something like this in mind, and kinda have a live stream around the office at SSG and how your designers and devs etc. bring lotro to life (by life I mean life always enjoy the graphics on Lotro). I see alot of madeoflions posts how a designing lotro works, and it is just a thought it would be cool to see how the office is.

instead of live, could you not just record some walkabouts, interviews etc and then edit in the following week?

Speaking as someone who has visited game studios in the past and is still under NDA for them even years later, I can say that filming walkabouts is extremely tricky because there is always unreleased content visible in the background. It's sooooo much work to either hide the stuff everyone really wants to see, or to carefully curate such a walkthrough to protect those details without completely leaching away any value it would have to the playerbase. Since most MMO studios are working on stuff months ahead of their live content, they go through contortions to avoid revealing stuff prematurely in case players fixate on certain things and then get upset when something changes (as it invariably will) or is phased out during the iterative process.

That being said, and to return to the topic of the post, I too will be at PAX East at the meetup, as will my fellow LotROStreamers PositivelyEvil, McVeganPants, and the Tolkien Professor, Corey Olsen. Depending on the internet situation at the meetup location, it might be possible to do some kind of brief livestream such as on Periscope or the like from someone's phone. We'll see.

I think that they were talking about film walkabouts at PAX East. I hope that is a possible alternative!

We have some seats set aside at Wagamama, within walking distance of the convention center, starting at 8:00pm Eastern on Friday, April 6th. Seating is limited. I know about 8-10 people who are going, plus a couple of SSG peeps, but there's room for a few more, so if you know you'll be able to make it, PM me.
