We can move around yard decorations!

I drop in and out of playing, so I don't know when this happened, but we can move yard decorations around the way we can move around furnishings inside the house! What a nice surprise. I'm going to have to put serious thought into my landscaping now.

Yes that was a welcome upgrade.

One of the best from U23. Now the cow stable isn't sunken in the ground anymore.

Hopefully we can get more hooks outside, too, once they sort out that resetting.

Are more hooks a possibility? Be still my beating heart.

It was one of the things I pleaded for with Cordovan on the Extra-life charity livestream. I took him on a tour through mine and Noodly's housing neighborhood and showed him what could be done with the limited stuff we have now. I pleaded to him to thank the devs for the housing changes and also ... to get us more hooks!

Is anyone else experiencing yard items not staying put when you change their position? Move items just a little bit beyond the box (but still within the yard and obviously within the distance of the controls) and the save button becomes grey for me and the deco won't stay where I put it. Happens sometimes inside house too, but not as often.

You'll have to use the new 'save' button to keep them at their position. And it has to be the/an owner of the item, who moves it around.

My Windfells goat (property warden) is now nibbling at the twigs of Old Man Willow.

That's why the save button was added: to communicate to players that the position is invalid for the decoration. If you can't press the save button, the position will not be remembered, but the temporary deco object will stay where you left it so that you can continue to reposition it if you want. If you have another player present, they will not see the decoration move until you press the save button.

Remember that outside objects can only be moved between their hook point and the house (up to 10 meters), or anywhere within that same radius. Inside decorations do not have that limitation, and therefore, you should not be seeing the save button grey out indoors.

If you're seeing behavior counter to the above description, please give us the address, /loc of the hook point, and deco item you have slotted so that we can take a closer look.

K but from my experience this isnt working across all yard items. Some of my trees I can move right the full 10m and some I cant move at all, IN ANY DIRECTION, they always revert back. Im not sure Im understanding the whole "Between house and hook" thing...cause many yard items I can move directionally AWAY from my house...and they stay where I put them. So which part isnt WAI?

I have bugged as many items as I've found not behaving properly but now Im not sure what "proper behaviour" is supposed to be. If its in fact intended that we can only move yard items TOWARDS the house - then 90% of yard items for me arent working that way. LOL I moved lots away from the house. And yet others I cant get to save at all, either away from or towards.

P.S. I like that we can (currently) move items AWAY from the house, it makes for a far better yard. Restricting them to towards only is ridiculous. I understand the whole RP thing behind it but really, no 2 houses are closer than 20 metres together. And at least on my properties, even 10 metres away from the house still doesnt allow me to put anything on the public road for example. Its fine.

For some reason I'm having real trouble inserting screenshot. I took several where it shows a yard item moved just slightly when the save button stops working. Most of them I didn't even move outside of the glowy box before the save button greyed out. One statue I was actually trying to move closer to the kinhouse but the save button greys out. Every single item was still within the borders of the property, if I can assume that as long as I can still see the glowy boxes in deco mode that I'm within the yard. And it's not just certain items. It's every item. The hooks in the yard are just really messed up.

More outside hooks for Bree/Thorin/Shire are needed, with all the crafting stations there just is not enough room outside. Would be nice if we could increase the range of each item, when moving them around homestead area.

The Save button was an adjustment, but I haven't had too much trouble with unexpected behavior.

I have not tried to adjust the position of exterior decorations I do not own, but I have moved my kid's decorations to different slots at her house, which I have permission to do.

    Yes to both!

Would like to be able to change the height, too. On some terrain things fall down through the floor following some unseen ground Level.

I ran into some problems with the Save button not really saving position, too (inside and outside). It wasn't greyed out and seemed to work at first. The items seemed to sit in the changed places on their saved position when leaving decoration mode but when another char walked up to the Yard or into the house they had reset themselves nonetheless.

Will do some testing and bugging later (after end of Festival since there will be new items to be placed then).

It doesn't check if you are Still in your yard, it checks whether you moved it towards your house or not. If the final destination point is not closer to your house than the initial point was, the move is not allowed and the save button stays grey.

If you move your deco and then select another piece of deco and start to move that, the first one will revert back to its original Place since you forgot to press the save button. Just remember to click save button after every move and they should stay where you put them.

I saved the new position (closer to the kin house) and yet it jumped back. Maybe it has to. It is the Mirror of Galadriel, and when it has been moved, peering into it is impossible, because you are too far away. It will only work in its traditional place.

Nearly two years later, and the "Save" button on outside housing decorations is still buggy as all get out. Half the items we try to place won't allow us to move them where we choose, and it doesn't matter whether those items are moved closer to the house or not. Some can barely be moved at all, in any direction, while others we can move anywhere - closer to the house, further from the house, to the furthest reaches of their sliders. As stated above, the Mirror of Galadriel is particularly troublesome.

We've played with this until we want to tear our hair out, moving different items to different slots because some work in a particular slot and some don't. We've abandoned numerous outside deco plans that *should* work but don't, at both Premium houses and Premium Kin Houses. As it stands, outside housing deco movement is extremely limiting, would really like to see this get fixed. Thanks.
