modernize the forums?

so i bet this question have been asked by someone at some point, but is there any wish from either the devs or community to update the forums?
i myself, think it really could be better. like a more modern ui, cleaner design or just easier to navigate.

As I understand it, they've mostly decided what they want to do to replace the forums, but it hasn't made it to the schedule for release.

One big issue is that their best options won't have any way to import the vast archives of this forum, so they'll need a way to make it available and searchable. Also, forum accounts will no longer be game accounts (I think). There's also the issue of things like folks losing their custom forum titles and whatnot. Not THAT big an issue in the grand scheme of things, but I'll shed a few tears for mine.

I'm all right with this old format, honestly, except for the fact that PMs don't get notifications. I guess my need for sophisticated forums is not great.

Yes, updating both the forums and the web site is something we want to do. In the case of the forums, it will largely be a new launch of new forums rather than an update to the existing forums, since the existing forums suffer from severe technical limitations.
