Due to the fact, that there is no update today... is this a sign, that the midsummer is the same as last year?

Could be an extended maintenance today as well. I noticed the announcement yesterday didn't include the usual "8am - 12pm Eastern" time frame. Rather it just says they will be down from 9am. Hopefully everything is ok as Cord mentioned there are 4 new items in this years festival.

There are four new items for this year's Midsummer, and we'll be publishing the guide today ahead of tomorrow's launch of the event at 10:00 AM Eastern.
If any content was added today, there would be a noticeable patch download and release notes and such. Typically they try not to wait till the last minute, but bring in any festival updates to the game a few months ahead of time, so while not mentioned in any patch notes, it is likely that the new additions to the festival AND any change to the festival had already been patched in with one of the previous updates, and the festival is ready to go already.

Hold back on that Gold Hobbit present pull 'til later tomorrow?

I was amazed by this guide. As you say, this type of detailed information has never been a strong point of the game. I've always relied on 3rd-party sites to come up to speed and post something on events like this. I'm guessing they want to help new players along and not leave them dangling with cryptic quest drops and no idea what to do.

I was confused because there wasn't a single new item for me available at the barter. Then I saw that all the "new" items are from last year's hobbit presents and I already got them in 2021. So nothing new for me! Very dissapointed, because SSG said there will be "new" ones.
Positive: No new gambling mechanics in hobbit presents and that's good!
Definitely disappointed to see yet again another festival without much of an update, especially for one as great as midsummer.
The Fall Festival & Spring Fest were repeats. That I can at least understand, considering they were working on Gundabad in the fall, and the new LI track and other updates for Spring. Yule was fine, and Anniversary so-so. But it's been pretty consistent for Midsummer, and to really only have one "new" item (the other three being from old hobbit gifts) is just extremely disappointing. Especially when it's not communicated at all until just before the festival arrives and all that excitement is just gone. Fool me once...
I guess I'm just wondering if this is to be the state of festivals now. I know when the game first came out festivals didn't have new stuff for a long time. Is it because you guys have made so much free in the game now that this stuff is going to fall on the wayside? There were quite a few years where festivals would get a decent amount of new items. I'm just wondering why now, with all the "big" updates more or less done, stuff like this just gets ignored. It really saddens me because I do genuinely love these festivals, and its one of the few ways to get new cosmetics and housing items. Maybe I'm making a bigger deal out of it than I should, but it makes me not even want to look forward to festivals anymore if it's just gonna keep happening

This game.. so much potential still, yet it has terrible travel, lag, and anniversary is just quests to do more quests, but the quests are so spread out I don't have time to waste, putting it down for got I guess, too bad really I kept coming back but just wasting time traveling everywhere.
I think there's supposed to be 4 new items.

These four new items are somehow ... hardly worth the effort. I would have hoped for new cosmetics, a new mount, or maybe some items for the houses. Instead, the fireflies, which are barely visible anyway, the fireworks, which some have earned anyway, a Gondor kite, and this hobbit dais, which could hardly have been more boringly designed. A flower-wreathed hobbit pavilion or something would have been really nicer. Have you fired all your creative heads, or what's going on there?
What are you actually working on in the background? Certainly not new rewards or additions to the festivals, which are essential for many players. The Shire expansion was great, but since then you haven't really tried to please the players. On the contrary, you have angered them by removing the reputation tokens from the skirmish camp.
I'm disappointed once again and I don't feel like playing this festival either because the rewards are just sad.

Not really the point of this thread but I wonder why this festival has a cap on tokens? Doesn't really make sense to me...what's the point? Esp if there aren't new things to spend tokens on the cap seems like a disincentive to actually do the festival.
