Re: Middle-earth Feedback: Rivendell's Hall of Fire
I love Rivendell and much of the world LOTRO shows me. It's beautiful and I think Tolkien would have been very pleased. However, for me, The Hall of Fire is a big misstep. It's beautiful, but kind of like a big echoing, Elvish... conference room. As it's one of my favorite places in the books, I searched this out to post my 2 cents, in case the feedback is helpful.
The Hall of Fire from the books was a place that seemed darker to me, with lots more small areas, nooks, and gathering places (not one relatively empty room with a few benches or a long table). I also pictured it as being cozier. It's a place to go sit beside the fire and think, after all, and to doze while dreaming of adventures and the most famousest of hobbits and heroes.
My suggestion on the Hall of Fire would be to add more NPCs to it, to give it a feel of gathering or community, and to add music in a corner or two. If there was anyplace in the game where I feel actual vocal songs should be heard, it's here.
It would also be nice to add a few NPCs talking quietly, drinking flagons of wine, etc. It's where the elves of Elrond's house gather, think, sing, and dream. Right now it's so empty it's kind of disappointing.
I also think Bilbo should not be just standing in the middle of the room, but instead should be off in a corner, or over by the fire, listening to a tale or telling one, or even writing in his book.
