It is about six week before Rise of Isengard begins its take roll. Turbine got to start doing maintenance to prepare for the launch. Some of this maintenance is going to be changing the server clusters in order to the configuration required to run Isengard.
Unless stated otherwise, all content in this post is My Personal Opinion.
I think there is a holiday on that day.
I see I'm not the only one to think of a pre-emptive strike...
So...for out European friends...remember to adjust the times based on the official announcement.

Odoacer was proclaimed Rex Italiae on August 22 in 476 AD.
Mourn or rejoice as suits you.
August 22nd is
The birthday of the Cadillac (1901)
National Punctuation Day (no one here will celebrate that)
Peppermint Patty's Birthday
Be an Angel Day
National Tooth Fairy Day
Take your pick and practice your rant for Monday.
You guys know it's just the myaccount site that's going down, and not the game... right?![]()

The forums are not an accurate representation of the thoughts and feelings of the whole player base. Those who like a particular feature are in the game enjoying that feature. Those who don't like it log out to mention it on the forums. It is a relevant but biased source of feedback, and any claims of community desire should take this fact into account.
[.sarcasm] You mean you wont take my money, GTC or RoI Code? *gasp*. You'd think they want to make money right? Right?... [./sarcasm]
I'm sure it'll be back up in working order as soon as possible, hopefully this is enough notice to minimize its impact on anyone.
Honestly, I hope that one of these days I'll hear the billing system supports Non-VIPs in Palantir finally.

ROFL!
Lucky for us Turbine is US-focused. They wouldn't dare have a downtime on the anniversary of jazz trumpeter Louis 'Satchmo' Armstrong's birth!*
*During his lifetime Louis Armstrong claimed July 4th, aka 'Independence Day', as the date of his birth.

I don't see how those marking various things that fall on 22 August could have missed... The death of Richard III, last Plantagenet King of England.

MUCH more importantly its MY Birthday!
22/8/1973
and the first person to make and old man remarks will be hung up by their gonads from the nearest eucalypt!
old fart is acceptable![]()
Inside every old person is a young person wondering what just happened
In some ways, perhaps. He was the one responsible for getting Parliament to pass the right to a Writ of Habeus Corpus, which is an underlying principle to a lot of US law. And, of course, Shakespeare wrote a play about him.
He may not have ruled very long, but he was far from unimportant....and his replacement--Henry Tudor--was a real SOB.

Make sure you aren't mixing up your Henrys. Henry VII (who was Yorkist leader at Bosworth, where Richard was killed) was the first Tudor king. He was something of a hard case (and tightfisted with it), but he was having to do some fairly fast talking and dirty politicking to substantiate what was actually a fairly flimsy claim to the throne. His younger son, Henry VIII, is the one with the multiple spouses and an unhealthy liking for the headsman's axe, whom everyone has heard of.
I'm sorry but this down time is unacceptable. It is a slap in the face from Turbine

It's Henry VII I'm thinking of. In contrast with Richard III's pushing the right to the writ of habeus corpus (a judicial proceeding in which the state has to show cause or let the accused go), Henry VII invented the Star Chamber...the classic method of judicial murder--secret trial on trumped up charges with a previously determined outcome.
So...yes, I do think Henry VII was an SOB.

They usually have a downtime every other Monday.
I think they took the summer off from that.
