Update 5 Developer RoundTable Discussion (While waiting for an official thread)

    http://www.lotro.com/gameinfo/devdia...per-roundtable

Nothing really strikes me as new, but it was certainly interesting to hear some of the thought processes. To anyone who wasn't already experiencing the content on Bullroarer there will be much new information.

Thanks Turbine for the look into the creation process.

+JWB, excellent job with the raid. T1 struck me as an accessible space for people to be drawn into, while T2 should present the challenge myself and lots of my friends were looking for and found lacking in the Draigoch raid (which was clearly designed to be a 'gear up' stop, and accessible to EVERYONE).

Do we have server handles for Derek Flippo or Worldbuilder Dan Ouellette?

The very first thing I noticed--"Update 5 for The Lord of the Rings Online™ is coming soon, and it adds five new instances to the game."--the wording is different from the constant (attempts at) clarification on Turbine's part that Update 5 and the RoI expansion instances are separate, where VIPs get U5 free but must pay for the instances like everyone else unless they already bought the packages through the store.

    Cue--increased/additional player base confusion. /ding!

    WTB better copyediting.

    Otherwise.... moving on.

"The other thing we're doing for this series of instances is, players can "craft" their own necklace through pieces they get inside the instances, and they'll basically be able to level-up the rarity type as they collect shards. We're going to create our own little forge in this public lobby. So players can come back to this forge and build this necklace that will eventually create a legendary-quality necklace."

Wait...what? They made LIs for jewelery pieces now?

Nice article. There's a lot of detail about the instances for those who haven't played on BR. The new content sounds fun and the mechanics seem original, especially for the 3 mans. Can't wait! Now if we could just get a release date....

Wait...what? They made LIs for jewelery pieces now?
I'm assuming they mean incomparable piece of jewelry and not a new LI system...

No. It's a barter system. You get these barter items (sigils of the white hand?) from doing instances. You then forge (right click) those items at the forge in the new instance hub area (there's a special forge aura you need to be in - just like crafting forges). It changes the item to the actual barter item you then turn in to a necklace barterer and they give you a necklace with no stats. You then barter that necklace + some more barter sigils to get a necklace with stats. You can then barter that necklace with more barter items to get an even better necklace.

The first necklace is white with no stats.
The second necklace is yellow with low stats.
Third is purple with decent stats.
Fourth is teal/cyan with really nice status
Fifth is orange with uber stats. This necklace requires the special barter token that is used to upgrade Draigoch cloaks. The barter token comes from the raid only.

I think that's right... I have pictures of them all at home but I'm at work right now so can't spend time posting the pics

Yeah. It's just a barter system where you can turn a bunch of sigil pieces into a necklace, and then a necklace into a better version, and that into an even better version. There's several different stat versions of the necklaces though, so should be something for everyone.

Where is this new instance hub located? Inside the ring of Orthanc?

It is in a sewer under the ring. The access is a portal near the existing sewer portal. The portal is quest gated.

For those of you familiar with the exiting portal that Quickbeam opens. Instead of turning west toward the ring wall and crossing the ford. You turn east towards the hills, that form one side of Quikbeam's grove.

Technically its in the hills, the sewer just provides access.

Additionally, we now have an official thread (Finally) So I'll direct you all there! and ask for Turbine to perhaps merge this thread in

I'm pretty sure the final jewelry upgrade item is a different item than it takes to do the draigoch cloak upgrade, but I'd need to log back in to BR or see some posted screenshots to check. *anxiously awaiting BR to open*

The access portal is in the hills. Its location - it is open to discussion. It is a good question as to how far the Saruman's underground goes. In theory you go into opening the hill follow the tunnel to the instance hub from the hub you walk into the instances which are part of Saruman's facilities to annoy and drive the 'man' crazy. Thanks to Instance Join and the Star Trek style teleporters - it is hard to tell. I keep expecting to hear Scotty say "Where would you like me to beam you this time Bunny?" I want to travel to Tuckborough and save the Hobbits.
