The Balrog lives!! Oh, and give MECCG a try.

Is this Skyrim? I really hope not.
Seriously though, this reminds me of how they dumbed down the TES series.
Personally I'm fine with this addition being a store focused item, because for me it really does pass my take on the 'convenience not advantage' thing, and it seems well designed. My negative comment is that a UI option to switch the icon off would be nice for those who don't want to use the feature. LoTRO does suffer an excess of store links in an otherwise pretty and functional UI.
Also, I think the dev diary was well written and I enjoyed reading it. For what it's worth I'm appreciating the new devs efforts to communicate with us, and I get the impression they really do care about the quality of the product, so I'm listening to them with an open mind.
My thoughts exactly. As a VIP we should receive the full package of "convenience". Not making use of this and no longer paying for a sub. When I started this game 3+yrs ago at Codemasters we had a vivid and dedicated community, guess how many of us are left. And the number is forever dwindling.
Show us a gesture of good faith and good wil and give this on a cooldown to every VIP. It's Christmas after all!
Edit: it's both amusing and frustrating at the same time how many subscribers share this sentiment. Good job Turbine, way to give meaning to your "Powered by our fans" credo. Thumbs up! Btw, had te log back in to make a simple edit. Perhaps add forum functionality to the store as well, perhaps that'd be a "convenience" item I'd actually be willing to pay for.

I think as long as this is available from another source that doesn't require TP , I'm fine with it.
Just another VIP expressing his annoyance at this being "only store" brought!!
Should have been free to VIP. Distasteful trying to sell stuff in every chance to already paying customers.
I've posted a somewhat longer rant at the Yule Festival thread. My impressions (positive and negative) are valid for this one as well.
Permanently retired. Was Kibilturg, Guardian of Imladris (then Landroval & Crickhollow) and ~40 alts.
This new feature is a good idea. But having to buy writs from the store to use it is a little "over commercializing." I won't use it, but there might be some in the game that will, so.....
And yeah, I'm not VIP, but am surprised it's not free for them.
Not only do I like this feature, I find its UI to be just right. I will use it *more* with my VIP accounts than I will for my premium accounts, because of its convenience and reasonable price (for me). BTW, I also use the skirmish soldier on the landscape tokens too. Having these sold by skirmish vendors would be a wonderful addition and/or dropped from gift boxes, lotteries, etc.![]()

On planet Earth, there is a try.
Indeed, in a world and life full of change, the only constant is human nature (A is A, after all :P).
We old vets need to keep in mind those who come after us.
I do not intent to use this and I also would like an option to remove it from my sight.
More store buttons and new ideas (better to not name those) about the store I see... *sigh*
''Sell'' what you have, 'Lord of the Rings'. Find ways and new features that all/most LotR/Tolkien fans (and of course this game has many, as you already know, no doubt) would like to see in-game or have. This, imo is the direction the store should go in a game like this, if you want others to look at it in a possitive way and maybe even use it more often.
[Oh and another thing: advertise LotRO.. it is certain that at least WB has what it takes for that. I am surprised that there are no adverts about this game at all now with the Hobbit..]
Just my thoughts - peace.
