....About the inability to get into game 4 hours after it was meant to be back? I foresee another 500 TP's coming our way...............
Still cannot get past the server selection.....if I get that far.

Do they even know what they are doing? Seriously the last few updates have all had issues! I know of no other game that this happens to sooo often!

The following just appeared on Twitter.
** We are currently investigating an issue with the patch servers. We will update you with additional information when available. #LOTRO**
Unfortunately this brief statement doesn't begin to address the myriad other issues that people are experiencing. I wish they'd take the whole mess down, roll it back, and return the new content when things are working properly.

We should all be a little more understanding of the Turbine developers at this point. I mean- it's obvious the game is being held together by duct tape- lots and lots of duct tape.

Turbine is not interested in this situation as well. Believe me, there is some people hard at work right now, trying to solve the problem.
Turbine does not have a reputation for being informative in these situations. I think they choose to concentrate on solving the problem. However it would be nice with a little progress-update now and then
Hope to soon be back in game

yep, i wonder how many devs they even have working on it anymore. the help screen in the patcher is the help screen from the beta patcher that says "internal use only". the preferences.ini files, including all your individual character settings files are no longer in the "my documents/lord of the rings online" folder. they are now just dumped into your "my documents" folder as of this update. the connection error messages are no longer being made end user friendly...they have coded messages in them.
so many little details get skipped or missed and pretty soon they turn into a huge mess. and thats where we are now.
should i expect this from now on when ever there is a patch like this?....and lotro forums is not working for me also if i click refresh page or just when ever it wants to it will say this site is down for maintenance then i refresh it 7 more times and it comes back on
Why they cant do something properly? Amateurs!
The community staff dont fix these problems, they are the link between Turbine and the players. They managed a tweet about the problem, they have managed a post on Facebook but so far nothing on the official forum.
edit: both the Facebook post and tweet were over 25 minutes ago.

It is a bit frustrating though...
4 hours to patch the game and then 2 hours to install updates only to get to the point where it tries to reach the patch servers and can't.
Thinking it was my computer, I do a quick restart, have it bsod for the first time in months and then auto-restart again - only to bring up the lotro launcher and find that the problem was indeed with their patch servers.
I'm sure they're working on it, but some sort of news feed at the top of the forums would be splendid when stuff like this happens.
That's not true.
UserPreferences.ini in your documents folder is used by the the launcher only.
It does not contain any game settings. Those are stilll saved in the Documents\The Lord Of The Rings Online\UserPreferences.ini file
The settings for the old launcher were saved into xml files in the Appdata directory.
But yep, this file should not be there.
We continue to investigate an issue with the patch servers. We do not have an ETA at this time.

I wish Turbine would be more informative when it comes to sudden server crashes like an announcement on the forums to let us know what the heck is going on. If they don't know then tell us they don't know. At least say something so we will know they are working on it!

It used to be at this point that I would come in and say something fair-minded about Turbine and its staff and essentially stick up for them.
If I might be self-indulgent for a moment. . . I'm done doing that.
Too many disappointments (Hobbit Presents being the final straw) and too many indefensible, intentional "digs" from official channels directed at those expressing sincere, polite, well-reasoned concerns about the game's direction and integrity.
Patch after patch they maintain their poor technical abilities. Seems they don't learn or they create new issues.

We're investigating an issue with the patch servers.
We have been having intermittent issues with the forums here in the building so posts here have been slow. I encourage everyone to check our twitter and Facebook feeds when issues like this occur because when we have issues preventing us access to the launcher or forums those sources are always available to us.

Some of you may understand how things like this happen. The fact is the developers are probably hushed by corporate big head haunches'. They push and push for more content, and more options for them to make a buck. I have seen this many times in my world of gaming, Devs forced to put a product out in beta stage before they want to, or even worse forced to release it because they have no say. They simply work a job, and someone dictates there decisions. The fact the don't update us in a traditional manner is a bit absurd. This is why I choose to have a premium account with this game. Id rather grind my way through deeds etc... to open new stuff over paying the 10$ or 120$ a year for a game that is fun, and great, but just isn't worth it IMO.

Only reaction from Turbine that i have seen this far is deletion/closing of several posts that were made troughout the day with ppl just seeking a way to fix their problems with the *new and improved* launcher.
I, however, managed to get in to game by solving the "grey-button" bug - i had to set proxy settings to "no proxy" in the launcher settings tab.
