Turbine logo for threads that a Turbine representative posts in

Hi there, newly transferred former Codemasters customer here

I just wanted to put down a little suggestion for the forums. On the forums that us EU players have been using all this time, there was always a little logo in front of a thread that had an 'official' reply in it, whether from a Codemasters Customer Service rep or a Turbine developer (rare). Made it easier sometimes to see whether the thread was relevant to you or not. I'd love to see that here as well!

I know it is not exactly the same, but one thing you can check out is the Dev Tracker. It has links to Turbine posts in the different forums and you can often use it to easily scan for recent answers or new information.

Ah yes, I'd heard about that, thanks! Am I to understand that every thread a Turbine representative posts in is displayed there? Or is it a selection of some sort?

Sorry for the n00bish questions, just trying to find my way here

I believe they have a way to mark some of the posts to not show in the tracker, but it seems to catch most all from what I can tell. Comes in especially handy when a dev is answering questions in a feedback thread.

And hey, keep asking questions. I think all the questions and answers this past week benefit all players, not just the ones who came over from Codemasters.

A Turbine employee can decide that their post will not appear in the Dev Tracker. I do not know if all them have this capability or not. I believe it is only the Moderators that can do this.

Posts are not linked are posts that are not interesting to the general population. Typically it is things like - This thread has derailed into fighting between forum members - Thread closed.
Unless stated otherwise, all content in this post is My Personal Opinion.

The dev teams posts always show up in a thread. They cannot disable them.

The Community Team can choose to not display their posts in the dev tracker. Mostly because we tend to participate in fun threads as much as we answer serious questions. I don't think it's of pressing importance that everyone see that one of us has commented on our favorite pie.

Haha why not? Pie is of utmost importance, especially the British savoury type

Thanks for the answers and for the encouragement! I guess I'll be focusing on the Dev Tracker then - although I still wouldn't mind that logo I suggested :P

Really nice to be slowly finding my way btw and so far I truly think the community here is great! I may feel very much at home here before long

What is the default? Post displayed on tracker or not displayed on tracker? Is it department specific? Are only developers posts 'always show on tracker' or does this extend to any other teams?

The default for the dev team is to always show. They have no option to disable it.

The default for the Community Team is also always show, but we have a check box that lets us turn it off on a per post basis. For example I'll turn this one off.

In reverse that means that Orion is not allowed to comment on his favourite pie ... mhhh

On topic - I think it would be a nice indication - again there could be an option for CM to turn this on or off, depending on wether it's a pie-matter or not

I would also like to see this feature and I'd take it a step further. I'd like to see any thread with a Turbine representive response marked, and I'd like to see each reply have a link to the next Turbine representive response.

The World of Warcraft forums have both of these features and I find it very useful. As we all know, a thread can sometimes wander off-topic but those replies "near" a Turbine representive post are often very much on-topic.

    Regards,

    Brad

That's a great addition yeah! I actually thought of that a while back while browsing Codemasters' forums but never poked them to put it into action. Would be a very handy system since, as you say, you often have to wade through mounds of irrelevant, repeating or 'side-discussion' posts to get to the ones that are important - those tend to be around 'official' posts indeed.
