Yep, it is in fact 68% speed 250 morale. And it's account wide, and applies to future characters, what a deal.
Edit-bit of a graphics bug, the saddle is place way too far back on the horse's body, the player is barely sitting on the front edge. Yes, I /bugged it.
Its is a bit odd though, that this freebie is faster and tougher than the horse included with the RoR expansion pre-order. I mean, I'd think that offering an account wide 250/68 horse would be a pretty good incentive for RoR.

All I want is the code. I created a temp STEAM account and bought the game. Installed the steam client on a mac. Updated. The app isn't in my library. I go to the app in the store, it says I own it. I click on play. It says I'm not on the correct platform. End of options according to STEAM. I have now paid for the app and installed the client, but can't get the code over a ridiculous technicality. Any thoughts/options? I don't believe I have a PC to install this client on and all I need is the code from it.
I did this too, installed Steam on my MacBook because it's a lot more convenient than sitting down at my desk where the PC is. Found out what you did, that because Lotro is a PC app, it won't show up on the Mac client.
However, you must be playing Lotro on something, yes? However you access Lotro, install Steam there. The only problem would be if Steam won't run on that platform. In that case you could have someone you know with who has a PC open your Steam account, start the download and get your code. Or contact Steam Customer Support and get a refund.
Also, you can always delete the Steam client once you get the code. You don't need it to run Lotro, though you can if you so choose.
On a side-note, do all horses have that steam blowing from the nostrils effect that this new horse has?
You could also try installing the STEAM client in a VM, using VMWare or VirtualBox. That's what I did with GameStop's client in order to get my Mithril Edition code. (although I'm on Linux, not a Mac)
I just wish they had told us about this before I bought the revelers pack. A nice account bound horse for all toons at this price would have been too good to pass up.
Not that I have seen, except during weather such as rain or snow (in which case your character has the effect as well, unless I am mistaken).
I've been waiting for LOTRO to be available on Steam for quite a while now. Besides how nice it is to be able to have all your games manageable and launch-able from one place, the Steam overlay is wonderful. Being someone that dislikes the in-game voice chat and has always chosen to use an outside program (such as Vent or TSpk), I'm glad for another alternative.
The only thing I dislike, in fact, is that in order to get your game actually properly supported by Steam, you have to completely re-install using Steam, which is quite a pain.
I have attempted to "cheat" the time it'll take to download & update by copy/pasting the files from the full install I've already got (running Windows Vista x64 w/SP1: C:\Program Files (x86)\Turbine\The Lord of the Rings Online) into the Steamapps folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\l ord of the rings online)--making sure that Steam was completely shut down when I did this. But nothing so far has worked, which really blows, seeing as Steam tells me the approx. time I've got left to download/update is 15hrs 8min. :|
I'll keep messing with it--hopefully I'm just putting things in the wrong place or something--in the hope of cutting down some of this time back from 15hrs.
If anyone has any ideas/suggestions/solutions, please please please let me know, and I'll continue to check this thread!!
As listed above, I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium x64-bit with Service Pack 1, and I can currently run the high-res client I already have perfectly fine at top graphics settings.
*throws confetti at you* It's okay I'll rez.
DarkRose,
You don't have you reinstall the game in order to get Steam Overlay to work. You can add LOTRO to Steam as a non-steam game by visiting the "Games" menu at the top of Steam and selecting, "Add a non-steam game to my library." When the next box comes up, choose to add Lord of the Rings Online. Once you do that, you can play LOTRO through Steam and have access to Steam Overlay and Steam Voice Chat. The only difference is that your Steam Communicator will say "In non-Steam game" instead of "The Lord of the Rings Online."![]()

So if I'm brand spanking new to LOTRO am I better off with grabbing the Steam Starter Pack or the Mithril Edition? Or just wait for RoI to go on sale again?
Thanks! :-)
Ah yes, alright. Well, I knew that, actually. That's what I've been doing for the past few weeks. It just urks me considerably for Steam to not recognize it, haha. xD
Oh, and if you're still sticking around listening to us chatter, Celestrata, I was wondering if we can expect any sort of changes to the voice chat already built into the game. An ability to individually adjust people's sounds--like in Ventrilo--would be fantastic.
Yes, I have to agree. If you're brand new, you won't really be using RoI right away anyway, while the Steam Pack will really get you started into the game. Welcome to LOTRO, by the way! ;D

Are there any plans to add Steamworks and have achievements? I have often wished for steam achievements attached to LotRO and this is a step in the right direction.
I bought the Steam Starter pack today applied the code to my Account Turbine and DID NOT RECIEVE a mount....
Followed all instructions got the TP Bonus but did not recieve the Exclusive Mount the Nobel Grey Steed on any Characters.
Checked Bags Checked Mail Checked Character Panel Skills Mounts...... Nothing any place it might be.
Wonder Now if I got the Quest Packs as I an VIP so I can not check the store to see if they still show up as available for purchase for me.
Steam Starter pack also does not show up in version history at My Account Turbine.
Anyone else not get the Mount Properly or how did you get your Mount.
It comes in a box with the XP stone.
A spaceship from another star / They ask me where all the people are
I tell them I'm the only one / There was a war, but I must have won
I bought both for my second account. Two different mounts (though the Steam mount is better) and at least with the Mithril edition, all my toons got the riding skill for free when I activated that. Plus the 2000 TP and all the zone unlocks for $19.95 is pretty darn cheap, especially when you see how much all those zones cost in the store.
You do not get free Ridding skill with activation of Mithiril Edition.
Zone Unlocks What Zone Unlocks?
You only get the Fellowship of the Ring Quest Pack That also comes with RoI.
The Steam Starter Pack offers 3 Zones Northdowns, Evendim, and Misty Mountains.
That makes Getting the Steam Pack which is cheaper and Waiting and getting RoI when closer to the proper Level
the much better deal especially for NoN VIP
So, I'm riding the Noble Grey Horse, and even though it says +68% speed, it seems like it's only 62%. Anyone able confirm it really is 68%?
Else, I'll conduct an experiment this weekend.
Cheers.

I followed Celestrata's instructions, but Steam cannot find LOTRO on my computer. So I have contacted Steam Support in an effort to resolve this issue.
Good luck.

I doesn't find even close to all games properly every time, into that first listing. You can, however, browse to TurbineLauncher.exe or TurbineInvoker.exe manually, and add it to Steam as shortcut. That will work as well.
Also, I'm not sure what Celestrata meant with the only difference is that your Steam Communicator will say "In non-Steam game" instead of "The Lord of the Rings Online" part of the post, but it seems to me that Steam's friends system informs my friends about the games I play based on what the shortcut name is in *my* steam client.
At least that's the case for any non-steam stuff so far. For example, I added my IRC client shortcut there just for the fun of it, and started it up after editing the name just slightly. I got some funny messages when my friends saw the pop-up: "**** is now playing Multiplayer Notepad"... :P
I had LotRO there as well at some point, when I was leveling up an alt. Back then, friends saw me playing "Lord of the Dings Online"...

As a long time steam user (almost my entire catalogue of pc games are on steam),
I am thrilled at the news of Lotro on steam, given my install just corrupted somehow
and now requires me to download it again, it seems a good time to download on
steam :-)
I bet the anti-steam & anti-turbine trolls are giddy from not-joy now and foaming at
the mouth lol
