We actually did discuss the reason we delayed Riders of Rohan -- our beta participants identified a few issues that we wanted to take the extra time to work on and correct. You can find out more in this letter from our producer: http://www.lotro.com/gameinfo/devdia...f-rohan-update.
And our team is still looking into the issue, everyone. Will post when we have more information.

Still can't log in. I'm getting an error message or I am thrown back to the log in screen after choosing the world...

Same problem here too, Retry 1/2 goes through and poof, back to login screen.
Good ol turbine, always boggles me how you guys can mess things up the way you do.
If I get past the login step (Retry x of 2 as often as not), then I can successfully get past the Subscription selection and Server selection screens (although it did fail to get to the Server selection once). However, after Server selection the login service is apparently unable to hand-off to the game server and I end right back at the first login screen without any error message.
So keep trying. Good thing you did this maintenance today and not next week (which I'm sure was the plan, in case problems like this happened).
Both my wife and I can't login to the game. I can get into Bullroarer but not any other server. Also noted that when I move off the forums and come back I have to log-in again despited saving my login.
I just tried again, this time it accepted the log-in at the second attempt, selected my subscription, selected the server then it went back to the log-in page.

I managed to get to the character select screen but it wanted me to choose between 3 of my 4 characters. I upgraded to VIP yesterday but cancelled the sub a few hours later after logging in with all my characters, and creating a 4th (to unlock slots, etc). It was my thinking I would still have VIP priviledges for a month.
Is this right? Or part of this login bug.
Far too many posts from people who clearly have no idea about computing or business or, at times, politeness.
They do update after update with no problem and when they do have a problem the "always the same" comments come up. It's clearly NOT always the same because it doesn't happen every time! So irrespective of whether the issue should be happening or not, it's an unusual circumstance you can be VERY sure was not part of Turbine's plan. If there anything like me (I write modules for a 24/7 internet service) they'll be running around like headless chickens trying to get it sorted. But of course they'll probably be a lot more professional about it than I usually feel, and get it fixed quicker.
It's not some "hello world" program they're running here after all.
And those complaining it happened on a US holiday.... all updates happen on Mondays, and almost all UK holidays are Mondays, and for us it's 11am to 5pm so it's a much more normal playing time than 6am to midday.
It'll be ready when it's ready - soon I hope but I (we) just have to wait.

After repeatedly attempting to log in with all the problems listed above I finally made it to character selection, chose my toon and waited about 10 mins or so then it timed out grrrreat! I know these things happen but when your already waiting half a day you dont wana be adding to it huh!! I think you all need a little patience. The ROR is coming out with a mounted combat system that no one else has achieved. They are trying to do tests on live servers to make sure that everyone is happy when the new release comes out. Maybe some things went wrong, but if you know the magnitude of what they are trying to do, then you should understand. Ok, that said, everyone log off the servers and don't try to log in till tommorow so I can log in

Okay then.
I have been trying to log in for about 1 hour and 30 minutes now. This is what I have had so far:
1) I log in using the correct username and password.
2) I get a retry 1 of 2 message (sometimes 2 of 2)
3) I get to the 'select subscription' screen.
4) I get to the server selection screen.
5) The launcher gives the 'Bring game to front' message.
Proceeding every step makes the chance smaller of getting there, it seems. After each of these steps I have crashed at least once, not necessarily with the appropriate error message (so I can't show you any - i'm sorry).
I can note that my error messages from logging in because the login server was not up have gone now.
I do hope Turbine gets this problem solved today...
P.S. Thanks Celestrata for letting us know that you guys are on it. There is hope yet!
Tell me about it. I'm off Mondays and I just started playing again... I remember now why I had trouble playing it before: It was always offline whenever I had time to play. And today the game's offline on a federal holiday. I don't understand the logic of daytime maintenance. Why can't they do this at night like every other game on the planet?

There is a possibility that if you cancel your VIP subscription within a day of getting it that it will be cancelled immediately. It's because of how we do our payment processing. However, if you call account support or submit a ticket to them through http://support.turbine.com, they can help you out.

Well, I succeeded in logging in on my second try. But I didn't get error messages on my first try; I got something else, rather strange.
Open launcher. Watch it go through its checklist. Get login screen.
Type password. Click "Login." Get "select account;" which is easy because I have only one.
Get message "Connecting ... "
And get login screen again.
This was just after 10 AM Pacific/ 1 PM Eastern, and the server I was trying to get onto was Elendilmir.
The second time, as I said, I was able to log in (though the wait time, with the black screen with nothing but the cursor, was longer than usual).
