    Lightbulb March 21st: Secret Event

But how did you deduce it would be an event? "Something secret" could be some thing to which access is being granted - an object, a location, an objective. And therein another question - will it become available for good or for a limited time only? If it is secret, will we even know it is available? The "Good luck!" implies it won't be a gimmie to figure out. But the speculation is fun, and here it begins

I immediatly thought of the secret door above the Stronghold of the North but it stated something about the light of the ending day (sundown).
I never waited long enough in testing to see if it revealed.

I do love things like this!
    And the episodic

To clarify, I’m using the word “event” in its generic sense (a thing that happens or takes place) rather than the lotro festival sense.
I’m tempted to think it has something to do with the End of The Third Age / Start of The Fourth Age.

That would be cool! Looking up Durin's Day kind of made me sad though. It doesn't come until later on in the year.

March 21st is listed as the day Aragorn delivered Gollum to Thranduil's court - so a fitting date given the Update 22 content.

As to what it's gonna be, an extra quest maybe? Or location/item to be found?

The timing of it might potentially be telling, March 20/21 being the spring equinox on the threshold of increasing daylight. Given where we are in the Lotro open world, with Mordor landscape finally accessible, this March presents the first-ever in-game occasion to celebrate the destruction of the Ring and downfall of Barad-dûr. This itself historically takes place March 25, but perhaps some kind of lead-up to it, or a few days' grace to let players figure out whatever needs to be figured?

The quests in Mordor expansion begin after it has already happened. But hard to imagine letting a historic occasion like this go by without marking it in some way this March. This timing can't be coincidental... and the "equinox" threshold between the two Ages, heralding diminishing darkness, is too singular a moment not to commemorate it in some way.

There are a couple more things that happened in the year Sauron was destroyed. It looks like the fourth age doesn't start until the following year. So we have Bard II becoming King of Dale and also Thorin III Stonehelm becoming King of Erebor. Too many kings.. lol!

    Cool

perhaps a tad off topic, but I would surely like to fantasize about the secret thing being a new pipeweed to celebrate the 21st, perhaps a sort of "corrupted" strain

Be interesting to see what they do. In terms of the in-game chronology, March 21st is already past, as the Ring was destroyed on the 25th.

I reckon its a secret door into another area of Erebor (lonely mountain) to be revealed by starlight

probably linked to the episodic story arc they are bringng out.

    Inb4 the snark posts start.

I agree with that. It was fun even for my level capped to go back to all the old areas and do Bingo Boffin.

THE BIG PVMP UPDATE! ... *slaps himself out of a dream*

Well if you look at the map of u22, there is part of the top blocked off including Dale which is surrounded by a wall --> might be a stronghold so could be related to that as strongholds are the new end game feature.
Could be a story or even big event to unlock it (maybe some will remember the anuminas event or similar server wide events)

Then why the "Good luck!" at the end of the sentence?

That's not what you typically say at a wedding!

Maybe it's like Prince Harry's upcoming wedding: Good Luck getting an invite! Ha ha ha!

So Good luck could mean "good luck surviving this" or "good luck in a game of chance" or maybe it is good luck getting some kind of invite?

I wonder if the "Good luck!" refers to some sort of scavenger hunt like with the anniversary..

Funny, Too Many Kings was on our rejected list of pack names for Update 22.

Sharpen your fireworks! Err...wait. Hey, be careful where you stick that thing!

On a serious note..no idea! But secrets are better than telling us or throwing it up on BR so folks can practice "it." If I was to take a completely wild guess it would be a scavenger hunt. A competition between servers sort of thing feels a little less likely due to big pop differences now (but Ark would certainly be a big player if so!). Whatever it is, the fact that we're excited to try to figure it out means it's a good idea and they should do more of these, I think.
