What's up between Elladan and Rochwen? Upon completing the quest The Sons of Elrond, Elrohir mentions, "I fear that she still does not approve entirely of my brother, for example, despite his best efforts to impress her."
Is this an unrequited fancy, or is there some backstory where Elladan goofed up or something?

A friend on Elendilmir got this from the Zaudru quest in Helegrod:
Very intriguing description there, implying that Manadgam is somehow connected to the Rings of Power apart from its having been forged in the same place.

First time I opened the launcher I saw the click friend and enter, and realising what it symbolised.

'In Eregion long ago many Elven-rings were made, magic rings as you call them, and they were, of course, of various kinds: some more potent and some less. The lesser rings wer only essays in the craft before it was full-grown, and to the Elven-smiths they were but trifles -- yet still to my mind dangerous for mortals. But the Great Rings, the Rings of Power, they were perilous.' - Gandalf
Your friend did indeed stumble upon one of the lesser rings. As all of the these rings were forged using the craft and knowledge taught to the Elves by Sauron, if Sauron were able to take back the One Ring, Manadgam would also fall under its sway, though the effects would not be as directly dire. The Great Rings are the only ones that can be used to A) extend one's life beyond its natural years and B) corrupt one fully to evil and turn the wearer into a wraith.

Friendly, and hobbit-shaped, too!

I have read many of the posts in this thread, but not all (so I may have missed it), but I saw no mention of the statues at the entrance to the Last Homely House (a pair of statues, both inside and outside) that seem to be intended to portray Gil-Galad and Luthien.. I ran by them many times in beta before, one day for some strange reason, it struck me as to who they were supposed to be.
I can't remember if this one has been posted -- and I'm not about to go back through 43 pages to find out -- but if you look at Old Man Willow you can see where Bombadil broke off the branch he hit the tree with. I just saw that one today. (You can also see the hobbit-swallowing crack, but it is closed.)

And there is one of Celebrimbor as well - seduced by Annatar (Sauron) and maker of the Rings of Power. I actually carried a spear for quite a while as a champion after seeing the Gil-Galad statue and wanting my Elf to honor the last Noldorion king in Middle Earth.

I'd love to see the fishing too. (And don't forget related cooking recipes! Fish and chips by S. Gamgee, dangit!!!)
I also like the "casual clothes" idea. They ought to be world-appropriate, of course. But the closest my hobbit can come to wearing everyday clothes to her kinship meetings/events--or to the summer festival, or to Yule, coming up soon--is to either strip down to her split chemise, or wear a mage's robe. It'd be great to be able to get holiday clothes at Yule--or other embellishments, like visible jewelry or a holly wreath. I got such a kick out of my pirate hat.Or maybe 'festive clothing' recipes for Tailors? (Ouch, though... I hate to think how much a Bolt of Silk would cost...)

Not sure if it was intentional, or if it's been mentioned here, but October 24th, Book 11 day, is also the day that Frodo woke up in Rivendell after the Nazgul chase to the Fords.

I doubt the Marketing Ninjas care about dates in reference to lore, but man, it would be cool if one of the top guys did. Cool coincidence, nonetheless.
I personally want a patch on Aragorn's birthday. If book 12 can be pushed back to after Christmas, and then book 13 can be March 1st![]()

There must be more .. with the patch and all added?
Not sure if it has already come up elsewhere, but as a burg you get to be a fly on the wall fairly often and from that prospective I got to see a reimagination of 300 in Goblin Town. Just suffice to say the Emissary from Angmar gets the one-liner.
btw the dialogue and animation there is great!
ps
was sorta expecting a bit of Return of the Jedi rancor action or better yet Army of Darkness

"I'm not a witch! I'm your wight!" --> Credits go to someone who knows what that might be from (w/o the world/word play pun), another completely different fantasy story altogether.
I had to make a post so I could stay current. I can't seem to get subscribed to posts without actually adding a post and choosing the option. Oh well, great thread. I've learned a lot about Middle-earth in this thread than any.

Ahh, the Princess Bride. I read that back in 1978 or '79, at the urging of a couple of friends. I was happy to see that Hollywood did a good job on the movie.
Many excellent lines:
"Inconceivable!"
"I do not think that word means what you think it means."
"She doesn't get eaten by the eels at this time."
"As you wish."
"I hate for people to die embarrassed."
"Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line."
And to close the hijack, the last line is echoed in-game at the Bree Festival grounds by a dwarf: "Never go in against a dwarf when drinking is on the line."

It's not all that surprising... the author of the book also wrote the screenplay.
But I totally agree with you on all the good lines. It's one of my favorite movies.
You forgot a few:
"I'm not left-handed either."
"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
Don't forget: "Nothing is more noble than true love...except a nice MLT: mutton, lettuce, and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean, and the tomatoes are fresh. Mmmm, it's so perky, I love it!"
The entire rhyming sequence between Inigo and Fezzik is priceless.
Inigo: "Vessini, he sure can fuss."
Fezzik: "Fuss, fuss...I think he likes to scream at us."
Inigo: "Probably he means no harm."
Fezzik: "He's really very short on...charm!"
Inigo: "You have a great gift for rhyme."
Fezzik: "Yes, yes. Some of the time."
Vessini: "Enough of that!"
Inigo: "Fezzik, are there rocks ahead?"
Fezzik: "If there are, we'll all be dead!"
Vessini: "No more rhyming, and I mean it!"
Fezzik: "Does anybody want a peanut?"
