    Lorebook doesn't work with Opera

Well, that's a little misleading. I can view pages with no problem with Opera, but I cannot log in to edit them. I have no problems with Internet Explorer, but when I use the same login information with Opera I get the following:

What version of Opera are you running? Are you running any special plug-ins for it? Any configuration settings you changed after install?

If I can replicate your Opera setup, I'll see if I can reproduce this behavior.

    Cheers.

    I'm running version 9.51

Here's what the "About Opera" page says:
    Code:
    Version information
    Version: 9.51
    Build: 10081
    Platform: Win32
    System: Windows XP
Java: Sun Java Runtime Environment version 1.6
XHTML+Voice: IBM Multimodal Runtime Environment, Version: 4.1.3, Build: 20050506.01.1

    Browser identification
    Opera/9.51 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)
No extra plugins. I don't remember changing anything after install.

I just replicated the same behavior with Opera 9.23 for Mac OSX, no plugins or special config--just a standard install.

I upgraded to the latest version, 9.51 for OSX, and the same symptoms occured.

    Steps:
    Went to "http://lorebook.lotro.com".
Hit the "Log In / Create Account" link.
Entered valid login information (confirmed this by logging in with Safari...worked great!)
    Greated with "Login Error"

(As an aside, the error page is inconsistent with the spelling of "Log In/Login"...)

Re: Lorebook doesn't work with Opera

I have version 9.51, build 10081 installed, and Opera is my main browser so I always use it. I've never had a problem logging in, as a matter of fact I did some Kinship editing just yesterday. Everything on my install is the same except I do not have the voice plugin you seem to have installed. I don't know why that would make a difference. My Java is the same build too.

Maybe your install is corrupted? Don't know, it's always worked for me with every build I use.

Here is Opera's user-agent (for my version, anyways...)

Opera/9.51 (Macintosh; PPC Mac OS X; U; en)

Without getting too deep into testing to see if this the case, I'd say the problem lies with the md5hash() checking for Mozilla in the user-agent and Opera obviously doesn't have this...

I changed FireFox's User-Agent to that of Opera above and it returned the same issue, so I'd say that there's a good chance the issue lies within.

(Though I could be completely mistaken, too! Wouldn't be the first time :P)

I think you may be onto something. I went to Edit Site Preferences>Network>Browser Identification and set it to "Mask as Internet Explorer". Lo an behold, it let me log right in. Crazy!

OK, I have replicated the issue; not sure why the Opera user-agent would cause a problem, but it is. It only seems to affect login though; I logged in by changing the user agent, changed it back, and browsed around the site without issue.

We'll look into what, if anything, we can do about this.

    Stay tuned!

Right... This will be permanently fixed in the next major Lorebook update.
