I think if Turbine ever gave an informative, direct, concise answer to ANY question we ask I'd fall out of my chair in shock.

Why is it so difficult to get a straight answer?

Ya he's keeping his gold for that one. There's a few that are close but none match exactly. The 'beauty of it' is that someone will post how they know it came from 'this' movie

I will need to accept that gold.
The quote does not in fact come from a movie, though many movies have used similar lines.
Actually, the quote comes from the 1987 play "Apocalyptic Butterflies" by Wendy Macleod.

They have. Open World PvP = NO. Although, I think that's the only one.

I was in the first internet thread on the subject 9 years ago, and sometimes I feel the need to inflict this brainworm on unsuspecting people as cosmic retribution for the hours I spent searching.

Still, it would be a great item description for this dang horseshoe.

Honestly man, don't bother... This has been an internet question for the last 8 years, as far as anyone can tell, it's not from anything, however, there are SIMILAR quotes all over the place, the earliest that I've seen being 1964 "Who killed 711".

That was my initial guess as well. Other good guesses were Hudsucker Proxy and Seinfeld.

But it DOES do something. If nothing else then to encourage wild speculation as to what it does...

    Kinda like I miss my bilbo birthday reward on my main from stupidly throwing it away, and never being able to re-get it. ;_;

Have like an epic vendor, kinda like the loot vendors in angmar! That'd be awesome.

(And change the epic quest to auto-give the horseshoe, instead of having to choose between it and the scrolls. People in their haste see it at the top of the list and don't realize their mistake til too late.....)
This is what I would like to know! I'm a bit irritated with the whole "horseshoe" mess. It's been how long and they're just now saying there is actual power within the horseshoe and that power will increase over time? Why not just explain that in the first place??

IT doesn't DO anything. But it might do something. It's a very subtle difference.

It's not possible, the way that the item is given as a selectable reward with an unclear description implies that item may do something, but it won't be ever crucial. It can't be crucial. And its secret can't be revealed entirely, ever.

Lets say if the effect of the horseshoe is +2% of horse speed after RoR, The next day we will have several frustrated people who choose one of legacies instead the horseshoe.

I've seen these "secret items" in other games in the past (my memory is becoming rusty), the best advice is: always get them and never delete them.

After reading that page, I have to suggest a new item description for the Horseshoe:

"One can say that the Horseshoe doesn't do anything, but even that's not entirely true. I mean, it really doesn't do -anything-. It doesn't even doesn't do anything. I've seen things that do nothing before, but at least they actually do nothing; the button doesn't even do that. It just...it can't even be explained in words, really."

    Comic gold!

Amazing! While I don't have any way of getting Darrowdelf money, you have somehow found a solution that even Snopes hasn't found. So it's either an elaborate hoax, or people just got tired of searching for it.

I have to tell all my friends at Hatrack.

I thought it had to be an identical quote? The one referenced doesn't say "IT" and it's from a play not a movie

I can see how it would affect festival events which depend on the RNG, but I can't see what effect it might have on Epics quests. Suggestions?

For starters, it does do something. Some may think it doesn’t, but it does! In fact, it does more now than when it was first introduced. This is why we’ve kept its effects a closely guarded secret. As time goes on, it grows more powerful! So when should you be using it? Some portions of the Epic story and certain festival events benefit from having this lucky horseshoe. In fact, the winter festival would be a good time to dust it off!
A humble horseshoe, crafted by a simple blacksmith to aid one of the first major NPCs you interact with, and will spend most of the Epic helping in some form or another. Said NPC is a member of two of the most important groups in both the game and the LotR itself. Done as little more than a favor for a friend and ally, he gives the old shoe as a gift, stating that it could bring luck if you believe in that sort of thing. It's exact properties a mystery, its powers increasing in number and potency as you advance through the game. Sometimes, if you do in fact keep it with you, it will even bring you fortune.

The Horseshoe was crafted in the fires of Mount Doom, just as the one ring was, and just like the one ring as it draws closer to Mordor it gains in Power..

    Pretty simple

    Hi, My name is Armitas

I have had chronic and sometimes persistant procrastination syndrome. I have suffered under this disease for over 4 years now. Horseshoe cured my disease and also gave me a shiny coat. I attribute my miraculous healing to this product. I gave my wife horseshoe and she can now see through walls and talk to small furry animals. I would recommend horseshoe to anyone seeking super powers or just plain healing and good luck. I am not a scientist.

*This has been a paid presentation for horseshoe.

You know, I took the horseshoe as a quest reward when Volume III first began a couple of years ago. I didn't have much need for the stat scrolls and the aspect of a secret but important item was enticing. It's been in my backpack ever since and, figuring it could have something to do with the RNG during events, I would generally equip it while doing fluff events - festival games, fishing, crafting. I figure that it can't hurt, right?

Yet every now and then, I would still get comments. Someone seeing me with the horseshoe and chuckling. Folk in my kinship back then would playfully hound those who did take the horseshoe, bashing them for falling for one of Turbine's "tricks". Others would tell tales about how they took the horseshoe, found it did nothing, and immediately sold it to a vendor for the 9 silver it was worth. Now, after all these years, some of those same people are upset that they didn't take the horseshoe. Others are angry that the "powers" of the horseshoe were not adequately defined from the beginning. And now I'm the one that can sit back and chuckle.

The moral of my story? It's good to have your faith rewarded.
