One Nice New Feature about the New Forums

Sapience - if you read this - correct me if I'm wrong, but the Dev tracker now reflects EVERY post that the Devs make, correct? In the old Forums, some posts that you all made would not show up on the Dev tracker as I believe you had an ability to opt-out on a post by post basis.

One of the easiest ways I keep up with the game is to see what the Devs have posted, so I like this new system.

P.S. If I'm wrong about the opt-out being gone, whoops! And I'm sure if I am wrong, someone who scours the forums daily/hourly will point out some posts that Devs have made that don't show up in the Dev Tracker.

Devs have never had the option to hide their posts. The community team has and does (because sometimes our posts are just for fun and don't really need to be broadcast to the world. It can get annoying if there's a 'just for fun' type thread and we post there often for example). There's currently a glitch though so you're seeing everything. Even the somewhat pointless stuff I've posted of late.

I also, because the dev tracker is now a bit more robust, added additional forums to it. So most posts in more places should also show up when we make them.

I don't mind the 'just for fun' type posts being logged in the dev tracker. The thread title is there as well so if you don't want to read (or keep reading) it, you can stop. I'd say leave the "glitch" alone!

What I would like to see is the individual dev posts in each thread have a link to the next dev post in that thread. For example, when there is a thread about an ongoing issue, I'd quickly like to see the progress being posted while skipping over all the "me too" posts from people having the issue. Doing this with the current system involves multiple windows or tabs which isn't as quick and easy as have each post linked to the next.

You realize that in the very near future this will lead to an unbelievable number of Extra Life related posts, right?

I really appreciate that the Bullroarer sub-forum has its own separate dev tracker now. This should help testers find and focus on what needs to be tested.

    Thank you!

What's the downside in that? More advertising for Extra Life is a good thing.

Carpe is neither part of the community team or a dev, he is part of the customer support team a third team, Sapience hasn't specified how they display on the dev tracker, but i have a suspicion that they don't or they can choose not to.

AS noted above Carpe is neither a dev nor a member of the Community Team. He's part of the Customer Service/Account Support team. As 'forum account support' is not a primary support tool for that team (there is a reason I keep trying to impress upon everyone that calling is your #1 option and filing a ticket #2 with forum being dead last). They do read and post, but it's after calls and tickets are taken care of and as time permits.

So even if we did include them in the tracker their infrequent posts would be shoved down several pages rather quickly. That's why we never have. Especially as the bulk of their messaging is static and covered by stickies in the Account Support forums.

For those of us who live outside the navel of the world, calling can be very expensive, so while it's great that calling is #1 option, is a bit discouraging as well that we are guaranteed to be #3 support priority with emails. A Skype support option would be awesome for us

If you call by Skype or equivalent, you can call for free or for a minimal charge. I remember that if you set your country to US, it will allow you to call for free even if it was going to have you skype out (and pay a minimal charge) when your country was set to your actual country. Before I knew that, I put the equivalent of USD 10 into skype and have called Turbine for account issues using Skype. I don't think I was ever charged more than about USD 1.50 for a call. So while it would be really nice if they had an official skype support option, you can still use skype and avoid major charges.
A Vote for Sapience is still a vote for progress!

It's free no matter where you call from if you use skype, you just have to make sure you change your location flag to US.
