Legendary Server - Onward

So now we are onto Moria. Lvl 60 cap. It feels a lot like the first time around.

Next will be Lvl65 cap? EW? Or will it jump all the way to Dunland?

And finally what happens when we get past Lvl cap of 80? Do we then all get to migrate our toons back to our normal servers?

I'm not trying to be a negative nelly. But I was under the impression that Lvl 50 WAS the forever cap on the Legendary servers. At least that was the original intent....

It was never the intent for level 50 to be the forever cap. Our FAQ is here incase you missed it:

Content will expand on legendary servers approximately every 4 months.

I highly suspect level 65 will be the next cap. Mirkwood and Enedwaith. Then Dunland and Gt River for a 75 cap, then East Rohan and Wildermore for the 85 cap, then 95 cap through Helms Deep, and so on.

Not sure what gave you the impression that we would permanently stop at level 50. It was never advertised that way, and in fact, I probably wouldn't have gone for it if it had been.

From LS faq:

Can we transfer characters off or on to this server?

Players cannot transfer characters onto this server. There are currently no plans to allow transfers off of Legendary worlds until these servers have caught up with our other live worlds.

If SSG keep adding +10 levels every 4 months, somewhere in 2021 LS reach 120 level (or even 130 if we get 130 on other servers), and in same time, LS have same content as any other server (with some addintional "old" quests), but with less amount of players.

It never was the intend, and that has been in the FAQ from day one. New content would be released roughly every four months, and that is what has happened with Moria.

We should expect Mirkwood in another 4 months or so.

How so? Questlines have been tweaked, the instances/raids are faceroll easy, LIs don't work like they originally did, crafting is completely different now, there's skirmishes, there's scaled instances, there's Lothlorien content straight from the off, there's no primary stat caps, and all the teal gear is utter trash compared to generic purple quest gear. The only thing I've found the same as when it was first out is the waiting around for mobs to spawn because the game wants you to kill 15 of a specific enemy and about two dozen other players are going for the same thing... and even that has open-tapping now.

Eventually of course the legendary servers will catch up to the other servers (level-wise). At that point the only real difference will be that the legendary servers are restricted to VIP players only.

There is a chance that they will extend the amount of time to say.... 6 months at some point, maybe at the level 75 level....But yeah, it will be years from now. The Legendary servers have a purpose to re-experience the different cap levels as a whole community, as a whole server. Yes, we all know it isn't the same as vanilla, and yes we all know you can't recreate that feeling of newness if you have been through Moria dozens of times already in the past..... but it does allow for a slower pace. There are also tons of new players on the legendary server who were not looking forward to climbing a level 120 mountain, but are not hindered by a level 50 or 60 hill. I have seen more absolutely NEW players than I have seen in almost the entire time I have played since 2011 onwards or so.....

The legendary servers serve a great purpose now, and people are willing to pay for it. No one is under the illusion that eventually.... we will indeed catch up. And whether the legendary servers will then become "normal" servers, remains to be seen. There are other games with subscription-only servers, and perhaps these servers will continue to serve a purpose for a long long time, regardless of the level. I am hoping that before the server gets to level 100 and imbued legendaries, they have addressed the horrendous grind that people are having to face.....

You are mostly mentioning game mechanics. And although no one can say it is the same as back then, because we are running 2019 code vs 2007 code, the feeling of being at level 50 cap (and now 60) transcends beyond mere game mechanics and code changes. The fact that as a whole community of hundreds and hundreds of players we will all get the next level cap together, (and the instances and content associated with that level cap) gives the server community a whole different dynamic.

People organizing PUG rift raids, kinships taking on the tier 3 helegrod challenge at level 50, groups of level 20-ish and 30-ish actually running GB, Fornost, GA and others at those levels, Eriador zones filled with people everywhere, it makes these servers different, and thoroughly enjoyable. On any live server, if you see 5 people during your leveling in Moria.... it's a lot. Most of the people you see are likely the 4 others who are leveling an alt, and maybe a lost level 120 doing deeds. If you play on a not-so-friendly time zone when it comes to the game prime time, you can literally level up with not seeing *ANYONE* outside of major hubs.

And THAT is the true power of the legendary servers. It isn't about whatever current code we run now, and the features you don't like that a "vanilla" server didn't have..... it isn't about armor stats, it isn't really about crafting (although crafting up to level 100 is superior compared to crafting from level 100 to 120), it's about the fact that everyone on the server is level 50 or now level 60, and people are organizing the watcher raids on-level, and the 21st hall is the end-game hub!

THAT is why people love the legendary servers. The open tapping or trait trees or *insert game feature here* are really just secondary to the community these servers are building, especially if you got into a great kinship early on.

I remember my first run through Moria. I remember that first boss warg in the instance with Bosi in the introduction and how I had to run him around while swiftly losing morale.

I two shotted it two days ago on a very poorly geared hunter.

While I'm enjoying the LS, I can honestly say, Moria is very different to what it was when I first went through it. It possibly has something to do with the fact that we're level 50 going in now, whereas I have never been above level 45 hitting the Moria intro before. At least, I hope that is the case.

Oh, I have no doubt that Moria now is vastly different than when originally released. Back then, even when we were all already 50, it was still quite a challenge. It had the mob density and difficulty to handle a decent player population too.

I hadn't been through the revamped Moria until my traitless auto attacking champ made it through (on mostly yellow/orange quests) 4 years ago with just 3 deaths due to carelessness. Sadly, the revamp left Moria gutted and trivialised. I'm sure even more so now with the changes since then that have made the early game easier and easier.

I think I went through it a few times before the revamp. It was tough. I made it through relatively unscathed on my hunter, even though it was a slog and then some staying alive, but I remember my RK died a lot trying to get through that intro at level 45.

For me, Anor is my home server now. I will certainly be unhappy if DBG has any say-so in the length of the server's life - as they open and close them willy-nilly in the EQ2 franchise (hoping that SSG is in charge of the LotRO decisions). I know there are hardcore folks who seem to want to just "get 'er done" and move on from legendary - but I am really enjoying it. That's why I wouldn't be unhappy if they lengthened the time between expansion drops - although I fully support the current timeline since others want to play through more quickly than I do.
