No possibility to buyiung Shadows of Angmar and the Login server for the website is broken since days.

Hello. I have got 1 problems:

1: Shadows of Angmar says "Guest" at my account but you do not sell shadows of Angmar for Lotro. Also i can not buy it anywhere anymore.

2nd bigger problem:Since days the login Server for the forum/website is broken.. It says authentication error or webpage not responding(403) etc. at every 1st login try. Also the login -Button is broken since years now. Often it wont even show up at the webpage.The supportpage STILL is broken. Even after 1 detailed report Are your webpage teams having got longer vacations?(for years or so?)

3rd probem since now: The forum is posting the whole post as 1 line instead of the format i had chosen.

Windows? MacOS? version?

Internet connection fixed line, or mobile?

Lots of issues with mobile connection and mobile version of website, even mobile connection to standard website; yes, not working correctly for a long time, something to do with TLS handshake - I reported this many months ago but nothing has been done.

Formatting doesnt work on mobile version, is that what you are using? Sometimes the forum software swaps you to mobile without you doing anything, you can swap back using the menu at the bottom of the page, on the right. There are only two options.

Hi. This can not be my connection. 50k DSL(even upgraded 1 time within the years)
Also not my OS: Windows 10 1903(The 1st with an integrated maintenance and self repair mode).
Browser: Google Chrome

At Edge it is working better but also not every time.
And i am using the same like ever: PC.
ps.: There is not even an mobile version of this page. I need to enlarge the whole page to being even able to reading the forums.

For this Angmar guest as an active subscriber i had read that there are more peoples with transfered accounts where someone had broken the account.
Also that my accout, which is showing as free to play shall be premium at least or VIP since i have got an payed subscription.

The Supportpage i had checked. Nothhing has been repaired in months/years now.

/edit: now this "website not responsible" - bug is even at the editing of posts.

If you have the game installed as Shadows of Angmar it might be easier to uninstall and re-download the game from the website, or Steam. You can’t buy SoA as the game went free to play. The first few zones are included and you have to purchase the rest somehow. It could be an old installation that is the problem.

There is a mobile version of the forum that you can switch to with a drop down box at the bottom - click on the drop down that says “underground style fluid” and you’ll see the option for “default mobile version”. I prefer the desktop version, even on mobile, but the option is there.

Microsoft released a new update to Win 10 recently, it has caused a lot of problems with many people; Edge has not worked properly since it was launched, and now they are abandoning it for a new version based on Chrome.

Try downloading and using Firefox, in case the forum issue is with the browser; the forum software version is very old and recent updates to Edge/Chrome may have broken it. It wont stop the time-outs - we all get them, although not as bad as you describe.

Try the above, and if it helps, we can try and proceed from there.

What you can also do is make sure any energy saver options related to the ethernet or wifi dongle port you use are switched off, as this can be an issue.

I had the same status bug with one of my accounts, showing F2P instead of Premium, you could contact support and wait, or just buy the minimum number of LP from the store with real money, and the account will become Premium - this is what I did last week, so I know it works.

It IS a bug, but paying a beer token is faster than waiting for support, and you get some extra LP out of it.

But alone the even missing pictures and options to submitting an ticket at https://help.standingstonegames.com/hc/de, wich is supposed to be for making Tickets and solving problems, afer all this time are just ridiculous. I had submitted this to the german support by using the ingame bug reorting. More then this standard answer was not sent and also not done until now.

Please don´t get me wrong: they are doing an great job ingame and i never had expierienced the "not ingame" - support of SSG before.


Not even the missing or the wrong translated parts of the german Support - form where fixed.

This bugs are not new. And my system had detected 0 bugs at its self. (Win 10 Pro Insider build with the 1st patch[after the 1093] of 1903 /19H1 for AMD x 64 with former 1803).


Important for all: 1603, 1609 /1703, 1709 ´s support is about to getting ended verry soon. You will have to update this or even earlyer versions, manulay at the Windows -
- Updater. Server -Versions to. The special updates are extra and will "deliver" the support as usual.

The 1803 /1809 will be supported until 2022.


Sorry for this lots of udates. This version - Chaos is a bit much.

If the game is missing at my account (an page which is not even requiring any download) then it can not be any user Problem. Since i do not have got access to my Account - changing - options.

And you where right: i had bought the 2 - 2er - packs st steam years ago. But some genious had forgotten to include the basic game, which is free to play now, to my account. And at the past i had thought that Shadows of Angmar is angmar only. and since Moria ws released shortly after finishing Angmar i had not botherd with buying this "addon" what was a way to difficult, anyways.

The original game i had out of an Codemastes plastic CD or so - box from the store with the steam code for the buy+pay to play game.

From what I recall, looking at my account a while back, Shadows of Angmar showing guest is not a problem. There is no where to buy SoA, as this was the base game code for LOTRO when it was released. I believe that everyone, except those that were subscribers prior to free to play, will have SoA listed as guest. This guest status does not affect your game play at all. Everyone get's the base game areas (The Shire, Erin Lun, Bree-Land, and North Downs (I believe)) as free areas when you start the game.

Not quite sure if I understand the problem, but looking at your account creation date it is 2017?
If you originally had a Codemasters account, when Turbine took over those accounts ~2010/2011 you had a limited time to transfer your account to a Turbine one to keep all your account stuff from Codemasters. Is there a chance you have created a brand new account here at Turbine in 2017, expecting it to have all the stuff from Codemasters ? If so then this would explain why you cannot see your previous account.

I have accounts made before free-to-play (September 2010 or thereabouts) and afterwards. I can check it, though I think even those will also have SoA(guest) in their list. What I think happens is that the server data gets corrupted when sent to the client and that gets displayed improperly, when that happens.

Update: On second thought, that may be true for those that started with a trial, which is what I did. I started in May, 2010. I subscribed in June, 2010.
Update number 2: Navigate to your LotroLauncher.log file. In it, you will see the results of a login attempt. The unlocks for your account will be listed as account tokens. AngmarGuest is present in every one of mine that I've used recently.

The CodeMasters bit might be the issue.

They went bust while WB were still running the game, Turbine honoured CM codes, but when the game passed to SSG, even though SSG was claimed to be an insider buyout, any unused CM codes were no longer accepted.

As for fun with Win10. I am still using Win7,, and oh, how stable it is!!!

Actually, it has given me an idea for a new satirical book, "Dick and Tom have Fun with Windows 10". The cover will feature the pair of them dancing around a pile of burning computers.

Yes, Shadows of Angmar shows Guest for me at MyAccount page. It is also listed as Standard and Trial. I don't think it means much as it's free anyway.

I have to admit I am not understanding what specifically your issue is, but I would like to help. A couple of things:

1. Shadows of Angmar is not sold any longer, but you can download and play the game for free here: https://www.lotro.com/en/game/download You should be able to log into your old account using your old credentials.
2. The web site where you list the game as no longer for sale is not an officially-supported vendor. If you are having any issue with a purchase through them, you will need to seek out their customer service.
3. LOTRO.com continues to have issues that will need to be addressed with a longer-term web site update. However, you should be able to refresh the page after login and be logged into your account. If the issue is you can not log into the game client with those credentials, that is a customer service matter. If you can log into the game but not web site, that is a different issue, so let me know.

Yes, same thing here. Used to be like this before the last move. Was better for a while, now back to same again. Windows 7 64-bit. Latest browser updates etc. No Mobile.

Get to sign-in. Fill in the Account Name and Password and get that default error page. If reload sometimes it works after 1st, 2nd or 3rd try. If backstep same thing. Sometimes the backstep takes You to the signed in site and You can continue signed in, sometimes back to fill in the Account Name and Password again.

Same with the log-in button at the top of the forums. Sometimes it's there, sometimes not. Sometimes if load a thread it will become visible, sometimes not. Sometiems if load a thread, then load the forum section again it will become visible, sometimes not. So it's a trial and error until it shows up and one can sign-in, or rather get to next bug with the sign-in process itself, he he he !!! :p

Hello. Thanks for your response.
Problem 1 has got solved. By an user who had told me that this is seeming to be an display bug at the turbine account page only.

Problem 2: https://store.standingstonegames.com...oryID=58516200 is realy not an official vendor? Woahh sorry then. It is linked at your page and ingame - store.

3: This are no good news. I am almost unable to even logging in at the Forum. The Login - Page gives no response often.

Wich clearly is loading not all datas and where you have got no option for an ticket.

And i wait some weeks and nothing even is mentioned for an upcoming fix then i think i get fooled.

All support - tickets for bugs(which in had created by an bypass[ingame help and the report an bug<what is not even translated to german>]) where auto response and no update ever. Neither an game - patch.
And i still see plenty of bugged quests at the Endgame.

The complete german support -page for Lotro is making no sense to me.
Example 1: name of the contact: I dont know the name of the person which will respond.

Example 2: some options at the support form are not translated or bad translated.

Sorry. But after this long months/years i had to ask, if someone ever is maintenancing the support page so users can use it again or if it is getting dumped.

I also has read of players where the "guest" at "Shadows aof Angmar" was changed at an VIP month. Not for me. I just see "Vip Chanchelation pending" and free to play for my account. As an paying VIP.

Just some general info about how I have to log into the forums. I've got two bookmarks: one for the login page and one for the forums. I always start with the Login bookmark and then use the Forums bookmark to perform any retries.

If I get an error when I attempt to login to the forums I do not bother retrying. I just click on my Forums bookmark and go directly to the forums. I pretty much always find that I'm successfully logged in when I do this.

Sometimes the main Forums page is stuck waiting for TLS handshake, so I click the X and then select the Forums bookmark and I usually get right in.

I hope this is helpful to others.

There was a fundamental change to how some parts of the internet work, that occurred late last year; an old security standard was discontinued and all browsers updated to stop using it.

The day it happened is the day the forums started this TLS handshake nonsense; so it is something SSG need to sort out; no other website I visit is suffering from this, and you have to wonder if it is the neolithic forum software version causing the issue, and if there is a patch for it, or if they need to purchase v5.xxx - which probably means spending some time re-writing the forum code; which has been set in stone since the day they went up 12(ish) years ago.

Forum store has been text only for me since that day - across four different computers; one of which wasnt built until 2 months ago.

To be clear, the TLS issue varies in severity across different ISPs; it is particularly bad on my mobile ISP (O2), some days I cannot log in at all; but has also slowed down logging in via my main ISP account by a factor of at least 5.

I like what I read. Although abandoning Windows totally when Win 7 support (and soon after 3rd party programs will most lilely stop supporting it too unfortionetly, being micrsoft puppets) and move to Linux would probably be the "safer"option, then having to depend on 3rd party unlicensed unverified sources software to try and stop having Windows 10 to act like a malware and collect all Your data.

Still I like that You at least try and take control of the Computer that You paid for with Your money to use and not a tool for Microsh*t to with as they please. *thumbs up* :)

3rd party software will support Win7 for a long time, the major AV and firewall packages were still supporting XP when Win10 was a year old, and only finally started to dropped support when net usage figures starting showing it below 20%.

With Win7 STILL running neck and neck with Win10 (which is larger is within the fudge %), I doubt support will be dropped for 4-5 years at least.

Acctually other large corporations like Google stopped coming with updates for Vista and XP many years ago. Very short after Microsft dropped support for them. For example no more Google Chrome Updates. One of the things that lead to that LoTRO store would not work and game even crash, as it was using later Chromium technology that older versions of browsers would not support. It was not noticeable until SSG decided to update their store technology. Until then old browser would run and work, as long as it didn't use anything that used that newer Chromium technlogy. So You thought You were fine using that older browser, until suddenly You were not.

Hopefully, as Windows 7 is still used by so many, as You say they will be more careful to drop support, but again Microsoft have been pushing to get everyone into their eco system with Windows 10, like making dx12 only for win 10, their Windows/Microsft Store removed from Win7 and only run in Win 10 etc. Oh yes and the whole switching places on the decline and accept button on updating to Windows 10, so that many people chose the wrong one and one day woke up to having Windows 10 installed. What a petty trick Microsoft pulled there. I'm sure some corporations will follow suit and just drop support for win 7 as well. Not to mention that it is risky to keep running with not even getting any security updates.

In fact Microsoft even switched to so call Roll Up or Roll Out Updates from previously having each small KB listed and Yo could chose only the ones You wanted. Roll-outs bundled with the same spy wares that they have on Win 10. Just hidden among other stuff. You have to dig to find the stand-alone KB Updates and pick the ones You want now. The Automatic Updates mostly only come with monthly roll-uots in win 7. Just a few KB stand alone patches when something is urgent to fix. So even if run Windows 7 or 8 and have been accepting those roll-out bundled updates, You might as well run Windows 10 as far as the spying goes. You need to wait and then hand-pick the KB updates that are pure security fixes after non Microsoft paid tech people have tested them and released lists of what they acctually contains in various forums. Usually most of them as stand-alone patch versions are never in the Updates Window that pops up. You have to search Microsoft web-site to find them as stand-alone patches. It's like battling a Malware these days to run Windows. Such a shame.

I only hope more and more developer move over to Vulkan rather than DX12 as their API, as well as make more games for other O/S like Mac and Linux etc, or at least compatible with them as well. Break the almost monopoly like situation Microsft have over gamers. Microsft is basically counting on most people not being knowelagble and not tech savvy enough and simply go with the flow, update to win 10 and accept what Microsoft is doing. Microsofts EULA or TOS is scaring to read through. Basically You turn over access to Youe enttire PC as soon as You use any of their software or even seevfices like Skype. I uninstalled my Skype when they came with the new EULA/TOS a while back.

Oh well totally unrelated to this thread, so I'll stop there. I just saw the comment in that post and liked it. :)

Oh and I forgot. Many banks here would not accept that You logged into Your Internet bank if using a an older browser, so by deafult that made it so that You could not use Vista or XP, since the browsers did not release newer versions for those O/S. Since everything in this bloody country is no cash and everything via internet nowdays, that presents a real problem wid trying to stick to an older O/S. They don't support Linux either I think, so not sure how I will come around that problem in 2020. Theyhave ven said that in 2012 it will be virtually impossible to try and buy things with cash here. It's all supposed to be apps in Your phone, swish and inernet banks and cards. *sigh* Already alot of stores, coffehouses and restaurants don't accept cash. Busses and trains don't either, only phone apps or cards (an dthey charge extra if use a regular creditcard and not their pre-paid app or their own pre-piad cards). Even those pre-paid cards will expiure in 2019 or 2020 and then it's only apps and cc.

Most bank offices does not even handle cash anymore (neither in or out) and have not for some years. The last couple of banks are now announcing that they will stop too. I'm so fed up with it.

We are living in a Big Brother monitors You society here, just like Orwell predicted. Although Big Brother is/are private corporations, banks and loan institutes. That was not what he though Big Brother would be.

I personaly use Windows 10 pro even as an insider. But i have blocked a lot and if i like to i use Ghostery to disabel all cookies , spy stuff, adds cokies, even social meda stuff at my browsers.

Both together. This is the meanyest combo for blocking all stuff. Even adds.

But only if i like to.

Else i am participating at MS Insider a bit and sharing my machine - data and some not activity/position -relateed Stuff anonymous with them and others to making Windows better. Also each crah of Lotro is getting auto reported meanwhile.
