Oh.
We at least need Yule Fest in July!
Typically, they offer the CURRENT mount, and LAST YEARS mount for festival tokens, and the mount from TWO YEARS ago and more will be moved to the MC vendor.... so if there is no encore of the Yule Festival, that will mean you will not be able to get the Elk without using Mithril coins.
I too want the encore back. It's not that I really NEED it, but I have since then created two more alts, and hey.... they might want some wintery pets :D
There is ROOM in the schedule however... a summer encore of the Yule Festival ("Christmas in July") could easily happen between e.g. 7/22 and 8/5 for two weeks, or much sooner such as 2/25 through 3/10 or so... Typically I think the encores are only 2 weeks as opposed to LONG time the Yule festival runs. An encore in late May/Early June also seems to fit....
That said: The schedule likely DOESN'T have things like major update releases such as Update 24 and perhaps also the Legendary Moria release, which may throw a wrench into the dates they CAN schedule an encore.
Personally, I would love to see the Yule encore late Feb early March, so pretty soon-ish.....
They did last year, but I don't think they did in 2017. The had an encore in February in both 2017 and 2018 though.... I think the encore in July was sort of a one-off event... it was called "Vacation in Frostbluff" and introduced the "Bringer of Sweets" quest for the first time.
I would like to see a Yule encore of some sort soonish, just like in 2017 and 2018.... but we aren't entitled to one if they choose not to do encores. I'd like to score an elk for 2 more alts in my case, but if I don't get them.... well, it's not a deal breaker.
For now, I will just go treasure hunting all weekend long! :D
Thanks for updating the schedule, Cordovan.
Though the news of no encores being scheduled so far is a major disappointment. :(
I know I'm in the minority, but I prefer a Yule encore to be a surprise, and of very short duration (maybe just a few days). That makes it more special.
I LOVE festivals, but I don't like the encores. We end up getting too many of them and they stop being a special event. If you've created new toons that want those particular steeds that are now sold only with MC, then I guess you'll have to pony (no pun intended, lol!) up the money to buy the MC to get them. I only started Lotro 3 years ago, so there are several horses I would like to get for my toons now, but if I want them, I have to pay MC for them. It would be nice if SSG would introduce one random old fest steed at each fest to be sold again for Tokens. Would be nice for latecomers to the game such as myself.
Besides SSG kind of requesting feedback on encores (to latest Yulefest at least)
so far as I can see from this thread and others over the span of last year and beyond people often asked for more days to finish a festival wrapper or for an encore wether or not their wish was heard and met by SSG.
Those multi step wrapper quests added to the call for more encores imho.
Yes, you do get more festival tokens from them, too, but they also added other/additional things to be done in the same festival time, more items and different currencies to get. Same as those nice festival instances of late.
I like festivals, but people should feel less pushed to do them. One idea is to remove the wrapper quests and give players the wrapper rewards in other ways.
We are extending the Anvil of Winterstith Lead the Charge Deed deadline to March 21st at 10:00am Eastern.
Cool Events. I like them.
Meh, I don't mind having the encores, I do participate in them, though I do sympathize with the idea that it takes away from the specialness of the festivals. So while I appreciate having them, I'm not going to throw a fit if we don't have them.
Though I DO hope we get Yule Fest in July. That was a welcome surprise. A fun mid-summer get away.
And I very much like your idea of SSG throwing in a random old festival mount each year that would be available again for tokens.
Thank you for the calendar! I'm new to LOTRO (a month or two) and I got to enjoy the buried treasure event.
Since this seems to be a "give your opinion" thread, I just wanted to comment that I really wanted the steed, so I kept at it for 2-3 days, ignoring work and sleep, and finally got it. On the one side, having it be something you can't get on a lark makes it special; on the other side, having the ability to either get it else-wise or share things earned/purchased with other alternate characters would be nice.
After I had my goat steed, my husband went in for the cave-claw pet so I kept digging with him, oh the sacrifices. ;) I had purchased some of the emotes and then won them in digs, so I had duplicates that I couldn't give to him. I have this week started my second character, and part of my push for that was to give the emotes to that character so they wouldn't go to waste.
I even purchased an emote twice, sigh, so I had 3 of those.
So I am in favor of being able to share these special items in some fashion. Dragging them out of my inventory to destruction makes me sad.
That is all. Thank you for the game and updates and everything!
I've been patiently waiting for the encore of Yuletide because I missed it in December when we were moving from Indiana to Nevada. Seeing as it is March I thought to check the event schedule and see no encores listed at all for any of the festivals. Were the encore's removed altogether?
So, someone tells me that apparently Cordovan doesn't actually know how festivals work in this game and has posted the WRONG info about all of these events this entire time. They apparently do NOT end at 3:00 AM server reset time. Instead, they have ALWAYS ended at midnight server time. The quests reset at 3:00 AM server time yes, but the actual end of every festival happens at midnight and always has. So, I guess we all know what employee actually doesn't play the game very much at all don't we?
Since the fall of 2017, encores have been added to the festival other than Yule, and throughout 2018 too, the situation now "No encores - no explanation - we no know" looks like an bad joke.
I think festivals:
- can be combined with Hobnanigans, crafting wekend, Treasure event, + 25% Marks and some others (this happened)
- should not be combined with XP boost and Vip event (duplication of the same addittional XP)
Do I only see 3 empty weekends for the next two months? 11-14 Apr, 9-12 May, 30 May - 2 Jun
Really no space for encores?
I see XP boost the same time with Anniversary too :(
My ideas:
1. Start Yule encore 11 Apr , Anniversary push away 1 week (as for me no problem ;) , next 2 weekends XP boost and Vip and next Anniv encore before Summer fest.
(My little private business ;) - coming Marks boost - last weekend main Anniversary or Encore) (maybe some chance back to Winterhouse middle summer too)
or
2. Start XP boost 11 Apr, Anniversary start as is now next 1st weekend - Vip event and after - time for Yule area and next - Anniv Encore
(My little private business - the same ;) (probbably no chance for little winter middle summer)
For both - if need cut 1 or 2 days from main Anniversary but U give Anniv Encore - festival fans no should cry
Personally I no need encore for Spring Farmer and Fall festivals this year.
PS If I made You nervous - sorry
