I wonder if players with higher Finesse have a better chance of getting in :D

have fun playing all!
Yeah, I'm still pre-patch, and have been running the launcher all morning. How are all you people ablr to patch!?
Or even better - tell the people WHEN (as in TIME) the world servers will be available again. Even if you make an estimate and say in 3 hours or 6am Tuesday - at least people will have some kind of time / date in mind and will not constantly retry to connect via client every minute.
BUT PLEASE AT LEAST INFORM PEOPLE!
This "maintenance" day that turned into a patch day has been a farce from the begining. No times were mentioned until very late. And there has been no official information as to the length of the downtime.
If people knew from the start that the downtime would be (example) Monday 3am to Tuesday 3am - then all would be happy and we would not have this farce on the forums / twitter with people asking every 2 seconds the same question. When are the servers backup ? Why can“t i connect? Why am i stuck at examine programs? etc....
Information makes the world go round - use it!
So many are worried about Turbine not having enough people to take care of a perceived issue. The "issue" being that they cannot patch as soon as they get on. I am in the same boat, big deal. There is NO issue, people are waiting in line to get into the game. The line moves at a certain pace. It is like getting on the new ride at an amusement park, either you get in line and wait with everybody else, or you decide to try again later. Perhaps you get lucky and hop in line when everybody else is getting a bite to eat or something. But the point is, there is nothing for Turbine to fix. It doesn't matter if they have people tweeting about their contest because what would those people do? Stand there and look at the server and say "Yup, it's a Server".
So let me reiterate... There is nothing that needs to be fixed other than learning a bit of patience.
However, until the game servers do come up, many of the people that already patched will try to log in, see the servers are down, and restart their client. Others will restart their client to check that everything was updated. And both groups will add to the load.
Considering that Euro prime time is starting, and soon after US prime time. Until the servers come up, I believe things will only get worse. Unless the people that already patch would go away until later. And we all know that's not going to happen.
The question was whether there is limit to no of concurrent connections available. Theorytically stack is infinite but practically its limited by the physical m/y available . So the "Not in such specific terms no" is not right. I would say yes there is limit to number of request which can handled by a server or server farm and it depends on the number of factor.
Sapience you said in your latest post that there is a queue yet in an earlier post you told us to not leave our launcher open on 'Reconnection' for to long as it may lock up on us. So this becomes more of a luck of the draw on who manages to connect given we are all popping in and out of the queue so to speak since we need to constantly close and relaunch the launcher to get back into the update queue? This seems rather like a huge headache... I miss the way this was done with Moria and having a client update able to be downloaded days in advance of the expansion going live.
Still can't connect.
This is an absolute nightmare, and if the answer is "be patient", I'm not reassured at all, because more people will be joining the queue as the day goes on, since many in the US are not home from work yet.
By far the worst launch day in the history of LOTRO, as far as I can remember.

I found it helpful to listen to http://youtu.be/LoF_a0-7xVQ whilst i was reading this.
Sapience, please post this info (in direct form) to Twitter and Facebook and try to get it added to the Load Screen - for every person that comes here, there are likely 100 hammering on the servers trying to get in game with a patched client while the _game_ servers are down (and likely down for a couple more hours). Thanks!
I think we have another issue here, since Turbine took over the EU servers, you say later today, Its currently 7:30 PM, so later on today makes it tomorrow for me as I have work to tend to and cannot be up all night. Im not saying its solvable, but, for us in the EU area it is getting quite important with information about times, as you say morning, we have nothing to relate to. Its better you say a time span, then we can relate to it and can avoid sitting at the computer as irritated muppets :)
Well I have two PC's one patched one not and the patched says 16gb the unpatched says 14gb.
Though might have something to do with the fact the 16gb pc is a older one with the disc versions so it probably is taking up more space compared to this pc which has the full client diluted down into one big patch.
I know lots of people don't know much about computers, so here's the issue - you keep hearing about the patch server 'load', right? Now, look up 'load' in a dictionary and you'll clearly see it refers to a weight or mass that is being supported.
So, think about your player characters for a moment. Do you have a lithe elf character? If so, chances are you patched quickly, since they don't add much weight to the server.
"Ooh!", I hear you exclaim, "I have a hobbit! They're tiny! I'll patch soon!". Not so fast, bub. Since when does a hobbit do anything without bringing enough food along for a small army? Sure, sure.. your hobbit might not be confused for an elephant, but with that slack of double breakfasts, snacks and several late day meals in his pack, you're going to be waiting a looong while.
Oh, and don't you dwarves get excited and start yelling, "Bharuk Khazad!" just yet. Yes, you're somewhat tiny, too, but c'mon, what self-respecting dwarf doesn't lug an axe the size of a mule across his back? Pfft. Maybe we can melt that axe down and turn it into another server and THEN you'd have a chance.
And Men? Yeah, you guys add a lot of load, partly because of your weight and, if these forums are anything to go by, partly because of your whining. Yes, yes.. carbon dioxide doesn't way much, but neither does a snowflake, yet get enough of them on a branch and *CRACK!*.. it breaks. And, trust me, there's heaps of whining going on, and all that CO2 ... well, it's just suffocating. I know, I know - you guys have those short life spans and all, right? But guess what? A few hours ain't that big a thang, friends.
So, all of you log off so I can patch. :-)
On a more serious note, once patched, I hereby pledge to shut down my launcher and let some other lucky person get in the queue.
I've heard that only people with Elebrandir's Horseshoe equipped when they logged out can patch now.
When will the rest of us be allowed to patch?
It would have been good to have a sort of check...if patched disconnect from PATCH server to free up queue!
