Best guess, the right to buy a 500TP badge to disable forced emotes for the wearer.

If that was a case, that would be more of a lose than a win I'd say. But regardless I'm sure you swore never to play again if you were charged for it. I could have imagined that though. Regardless, I'll still give you a good fishslap upside the head for being so naughty. If you give me 20tp though, I'll reconsider.
Actually this is something I would spend the 500 TP on. I find FEs that aggravating. Although I hate the idea of losing some practical pocket item. I didn't anticipate the opt out to be free regardless of it's form.
Personally I think you've been jipped if you have to pay, but each to their own. I'm not a user of FE's, but they don't bother me either. I'm a dab hand with that wet fish though so can we agree a price to guarantee your safety?
In all seriousness hopefully this will finally be an end to this mess.
I don't believe that it will, but that's only my gut feeling and thus based on no real evidence.
If it also became a purchased pocket item, though, the forum outrage would be quite entertaining given the overlap between the anti-FE and anti-crafting XP crowds.
(Side note to those who don't like the FEs - avoid GW2 for the next couple weeks. Frankly, most of you probably avoid GW2 anyway, but I just thought that I'd warn you. The GW2 winter festival is going on right now and there are NPCs in the main city that will hit you with snowballs and knock you down. Yes, NPCs.)
The reason we aren't coming out and saying the exact specifics is because we are still implementing the features. We don't want to promise XYZ as the solution when we may only be able to do XY (no Z).
So much time and effort spent avoiding providing players with real choice, as a significant number .. whether it's the majority or not isn't relevant .. have been asking for since these griefing tools first appeared.
So much time and effort ensuring the griefers can continue to be &&&-hats.

Thank you. This is welcome news!
I think while it's true that details can't be given as of yet, I do think it would be fair to state if the intended solution is going to take the form of a freely available option or a store bought one.
I hope that whenever the solution is presented, it is not a solution made solely with RPers in mind. While FEs disrupt RP greatly, there are a multitude of us who wish to opt out of FEs who do not RP. Yet I have this very bad feeling this is the direction the fix is heading, based on current work-arounds and the comment made on the Twitter with the Devs thing. Please please please make this a universal fix, not just an RP one.
Agree wholeheartedly. Actually, the RP emote SHOULD BE the clue to do this, as non-RPs would be free.
True story.. Running in Harwick from the stable to the bank after taking 2 hours for dailies between Hytbold and Frostbluff on my LM, headed to my warden to repeat the same grind.. and froze.. started cussing because I thought the game had locked up... then suddenly snow started fallilng on me. Someone had hit me with a FE.. I then started cussing the Devs that had come up with that asdfas. If it was someone I knew, I woulda laughed, but this was some random guy, standing outside the bank, forcing this hitch on other people. NOT FUNNY, at all. Ya know, if I was walking down the street and someone dumped a bank of snow on my head, I would have grounds for an assault charge.
The forced grind we are having to do in this game IS Serious Business.
Would that be anything new? What do you think putting XP for crafting in to the game then selling an XP disabler is all about? It's introducing an issue then selling you the solution. FEs aren't any different, Turbine introed the issue and is now going to sell you the solution.
If it's even an item which is free, that would be not quite cricket either. Like you, I'm OK (most of the time) with being on the receiving end of pranks, so I wouldn't buy the immunity or even equip a free item for immunity.
Thus we see the source of some alleged humor elsewhere on the forums this morning.
You are undoubtedly right. And no matter what the fix is, we all know plenty of people will complain about it.
Hmm, how about a simple way for Turbine to recover costs of developing anti-FE device?
Make each use of FE item cost 1 (one) TP from invoker.
A nice elegant solution, good TP destruction and good riddance to current FE crazyness and all random FE users.
If one will need few FE for RP purposes, he will use them and pay the small cost, those that must do deeds on all costs will then still work on all those deeds, but also give Turbine good income from TP purchases.
For 500 TP, I'd want a "dingdong" skill that responds to any use of a FE upon me with a 1 min window to have a house drop out of the sky on top of whoever used a FE on me, killing them instantly (and preventing them from retreating), and then a parade of npcs from the local population singing, "Ding, dong, the Griefer's Dead, get out of bed, the wicked Griefer's dead! Sing it high, sing it low, let them know, the wicked Griefer's dead, etc, etc" and present me with awards and sing my praises for a good 4 minutes:
